The Darwin International Guitar Festival is a biennial festival celebrating the classical guitar masters of the World. The Fourth Darwin International Guitar Festival will be held in Darwin, Australia’s exotic tropical capital, from June 30 – July 10, 1999. The concert series will be complimented by a wide range of informative masterclasses, workshops and lectures.

It is with much pleasure that the Festival welcomes back to Darwin World renowned guitarist John Williams. A special feature of his visit will be a workshop on the art of transcription and a fascinating insight into his recent transcription of Schubert’s Arpeggione sonata.

Making their first visit to Australia for the Festival will be brilliant American virtuoso David Tanenbaum, leading Early Music specialist and lutenist James Tyler and the innovative composer and performer, Argentinian Maximo Diego Pujol.

The Festival will conclude with a spectacular concert under the stars with John Williams and the Darwin Symphony Orchestra at Lake Bennett Wilderness Resort. 1. Series 10
    Shaffer

Hello I just found this thread talking about Series 10 guitars and I also have one and no matter how much I search on the internet I can’t find anything about them. The one I have has the same body shape as a Fender Stratocaster but has no pickguard, it’s got a green veiny design on the body, has a black fretboard, and like everyone else’s nothing is known about it.

  2. Series 10 Pro-Model guitar
    The Guitar Player From mehlville

They are owned and made by Kramer probably anywhere in the world that makes stencil musical instruments. Mine also does not have a name, you just have to get into the right distributors to find this info out, that is if you are a dealer. My guess is they will tell you they don’t want to get sued for copyright infringement because you would swear it was a Dean or Schecter. With a little neck work they are great. For all it matters you could buy a decal for the head stock and put any name on it you want. Neck is nice and set up well, but assemble appears to be Chinese not Korean.
I am sure the country of origin may vary. They are an inexpensive alternative mine plays surprisingly well. the only way to look at it is to relate to the fact that everyone used to have a Japanese or Korean guitar, now it is Korean or Chinese.

  3. Series 10 Strat Red
    Dave

I am looking to sell a red with white face Series 10 Strat style. I have some photos. It has a scratch here and there, nothing that I notice that can’t be buffed out. There is a hairline crack in the white face near one of the screws, but quite frankly I never noticed it until I decided to sell it. We can negotiate shipping costs, but if you are in Southern Illinois area, we can meet.

Hey I can help you if you have not found any answers, I am a collector of Bently guitars.. theses guitars were more common in the early 80’s from the St. Louis music company. the first productions were u.s.a, than the company out-soursed to Korea. although they are a low range guitar I do collect some overseas models. the series 10 brand had 2 logos one being a small series and a large 10 on the head stock, the later Korean models had a logo that the S’ looked like the band Kiss. (not very collectable). I would be interested in the guitar if you can provide me a photo and a serail number on the neckplate on the back. I hope you still have the guitar as it might be one I am looking for! thanks for yout time.. Bill

I have a left handed fire red strat which also has the shark fin inlays and a floyd rose pat. bridge, it has a locking nut with the alankey on the back of the head stock it was purchased @ "daddy’s junkie music from paul nelson who worked there at that time in stamford conn. approx. in mid 90’s. paul now has notoriety for writing and playing on johnny winters recent album. he did the original set up as well. then chris risola of steelheart had given me a few lessons as well as follow up set ups onthat guitar until moving away to boca raton fla. he is currently getting ready to go back on the road with his former bandmate and my friend as well mike matijevic now known as mili minjenko but anyway my guitar will not stay in tune too well but when it is it delivers a great sound through my mg30dfx marshall amp and my digitech rp5o effects processor. so if you think you may help with some advice to keep this guitar in tune and possibly give a review on it as well the serial # is 229orl and don’t forget to check out steelhearts new album to be released this month as well as the new website coming may 10th 2008 also new concert dates like rocklahoma on july 17 2008! sorry for the plug but they’re my boy’s!

: I still own my Bentley Series 10 Les Paul copy that I bought in 1982 (pre KISS style logo). It’s a bit beat-up but with some TLC could be a decent starter guitar. Wondering what it might be worth all these years later?

              Wannabeguitarist

I own a Bently Series10 guitar that was made in America. It is a left-handed model ( I play guitar right-handed. I turn the guitar upside down and string it backwards to use it). THIS IS ONE OF THE NICEST ELECTRIC GUITARS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I own an American made Fender Statocaster (three single coil pickups) and a Gibson Les Paul (two humbuckers). This Series10 guitar has a humbucker at the bridge, a single coil pickup in the middle and a single coil pickup at the neck (NICE PICKUPS). Neither the Stratocaster nor the Les Paul is a better guitar than the Series10, they are just different. SO, IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO FIND AND PURCHASE AN AMERICAN SERIES10 GUITAR, YOU HAVE GOT ONE EXCELLENT ELECTRIC GUITAR.

I have a couple of Series 10 guitars that i got about 14 years ago. They were made by a company called Bentley Guitars. I remember seeing them for sale used ranging from $80 to $250 or so back then. The company has been bought out or changed its name (can’t remember what it is called today). They make pretty straight laced guitars now (Les Paul, Strat, PRS body styles) but when they were Series 10 they made some cool more radical styled guitars (two of the ones I have are different explorer/scarab type body styles).

If you’re interested in selling yours I would watch ebay. You can typically find them for sale there and this will give you an idea of what they’re going for.

: I am an owner of 7 Bently/Series 10 electric guitars, one Bently Acoustic/Electric guitar and two Bently Series 10 bass guitars. I also own a gretch, gibson L6-S, and an Ibanez Geo bass guitar. Among them are four LP copies, one Telecaster, and three strat copies. They are all nice guitars I used on stage. Made by St. Louis Music company from the 1980s up until 1998 when they issued them as Austin guitars. Some are with S-10 pickups (SLM pickups). I paid from $31 to $102. Worth the investment but, the professional models were the top of the line.

My Series 10 was my first guitar, its all black and it’s my favorite one. I can’t find anything on the Internet about them, no one really has any. They’re really rare and I’m proud to own one, it may be worth a lot.

hello, my name is robby, and i also to own 6 series 10 electric guitars, and in the process of buying another one from a friend, ive been playing for 25 years now and the first one i bought in a pawn shop burried in dontown nowhere, i.e, colorado springs colorado, for 80.00 bucks has been the best guitar ever, when ever i let someone hold, play, ect it, usualy not verry long, lol, they immediatly want to buy it.they usualy ask me ..what kind of guitar is this? my reply is… its a series 10 but its name is cadillac, …but why do you call it that?….becouse it plays like driveing a cadillac. the best out there, its a strat style, cream colored, pittbull in front of his dog house, grafic, put on by the bridge, two custome pickups, 1 tele style at the neck, and 1 seymore, dubble, single, rail at the bridge.stock at the center.i have played sevral 3000.00 plus guitars in my time, in several bands on the road, but i would never ever, buy any thing else, than a series 10. they just do not hold up, or play, or feel like a series 10, that has had a little money and time put in to it.

A couple of years ago I bought this strange red guitar at a yard sale in my neighborhood for the astounding price of $3! I didnt know how to play guitar, but I took it home and started messing around. 4 years later I have 4 other guitars including a Gretsch and a Gibson Les Paul. However this weird little red start-style guitar still gets its fair share of playing. For some reason I really like how the guitar feels. I am currently in the process of putting some money in it to fix it up. I think it will be really nice!

I asked a teacher of mine about the brand and he told me that they are a japanese guitar company that was really big in the 80’s. This is just what he told me but I guess he could be wrong. They arent very common any more and nobody really seems to know about them. So glad to hear from somebody else who has one!

I am a Bently guitar collector.
Series 10 guitars were made by SLM (St.Louos Music)
SLM needed a guitar that they could sell a little cheaper than the Alvarez guitar line so they introduced the Bently guitar line from 1985 to 1998.
Bently guitars started off as cheap acostic guitars, Then they started making electrics then later on changed the electrics to the name Series 10 and left the acoustics as Bently.
They kept making the Series 10 andBently guitars up yill 1998 when SLM introduced the Austin guitar line.
The Bently and Series 10 guitars started off as copies of old american favorites like the Gibson black Beauty or the Fender telecaster. Series 10 even made they’re on pickups at one point.
they were called S10 pickups which stood for Series 10. They look alot like your EMG pickups now days.
Series 10 guitars sell for around $100 to $200 on the used market depending on the guitar.
I hope this helps. if you have anymore questions you can email me at [email protected]

the series 10 guitar was made by st. Louis music co. in the 1980’s- they made electric and acoustics, they now make alvarez guitars- the same company- they make a few others as well.. just google- the st. Louis music co. – and or wiki –
depending on the guitar’s shape- condition- it can be worth prob up to 400$ but I think average value around 150$ depending if you are a collector or not!

I picked up a Series 10 bass about a decade ago, which I got because it was the cheapest lefty bass I could find. It cost me around $150, and it turned out to be a pretty decent instrument. No frills, but solid sound & construction. All I know for sure is that it was made by a company called "Bentley". There seems to be no reliable info about them on the Web, though other owners have hinted that they may have been bought out, possibly by Jackson guitars. As for pricing, they’re probably not worth too much, but most of the folks who own them seem pretty happy with them, so – who knows?

      Mad Scientist 13

My first guitar was actually a series 10 version of a danelectro. It was a good guitar, had 2 single coil pickups and great tone, the body was heavy as hell, but the only downfall was that the electronics in it were very shabby. Mind you this was about 9 years ago. I just wish I had that guitar now, cause I’ve had my fair share of guitars since then, but not one with that same incredible tone. So I know they exist, but like you I can never find any information on them.

I am the owner/founder of series 10 guitars and im here to tell you, they are all worth in the upper thousands. There were only a few thousand made and i dont know why people are finding them soo cheap around. If you can find a red one, hold on to it, they’re worth the most beacause theyre painted with mercedes paint and buffed with goose feathers. One in good condition should sell for $2000 or so dollars.

Despite everything discussed here about the series 10, it all comes down to what you like. The never ending talk about how much something is worth when it comes to a guitar is old. How a red series 10 is worth $2000 just because of the paint I don’t understand. I own one and just don’t see.
I have however owned guitars that would be considered junk that didn’t even have the makers name on them and they produced an unbelievable sound all there own. Yes, a good sound. Good enough that I still think about it 20 years later. I called it the red rocker back then.
When I personally buy a guitar, I couldn’t give a rats a** about the name. I don’t even look. I work my way down the rack playing each one until you hear that sound. Always I am surprised when I I look at the maker. Never has it been the “top of line” guitar. So why do people continue paying so much money for them? A name? No wonder music on the radio sounds like s**t now days.
As musicians, we are suppose to be self expressive doing our own thing yet I can’t tell the difference between this group or that based on the sound. The 80’s groups, you could tell who it was from the first 2 notes played. Unique!
Which brings me back to the Series 10.
If it sounds good and you sound like a rock star playing it, who cares how much it costs. Become famous playing it and then it will be collectible to those that it matters to. Let’s all try to remember why we play guitar and if you can remember the first time you played a song in a band, I’m positive it had nothing to do with money.
I appreciate the info on the red paint and maybe he is the founder or maybe not.
I say plug the damn thing in a rock it. That is what we do, right?

I gave 60. for this guitar yesterday and have been trying to research it. It has beautiful tone, the only reason I traded for it. It is a candy red color, but of coarse can’t find any seriial numbers to go on. I wish I could post a picture here. If it’s worth 2000. Then I made one hell of a deal!

I am 40 years old and bought my first guitar in 1986 from a local music store. It was a canary yellow Series 10 (the one the blonde in the black dress was holding in all the posters and ads) It was a hardcore instrument that hardly ever went out of tune even when being played like a bass by a kid who knew nothing about them. I ended up trading it for a dirt bike and regretting it ever since. Recently a friend of mine who is a craigslist surfer and guitar collector/ excellant repairman aquired on for $30 from a guy who was going to throe it out. It looked like crap from improper care, but he cleaned it up stuck some strings on it and it played just fine. It’s a Seafoam green painted double pickup. Not a scratch on it. I traded him a pair of vintage Acoustic mains for it and he is adjusting the bridge and fine tuning it for me as we type. I am so glad to add this one of a kind piece to my collection!

I am getting conflicting ciews on these guitrs. I have a cream with red stripe following the design of body guitar. It has dual humbuckers, tunamatic wah-wah bridge on it, tow knobs and 1-3 way switch on it. Says Series 10 by Bently, S.# Sl85060072 pn sticker on back of guitarunder keys. I suspect it might be one of those talked about maybe made in China etc. But we really don’t know. It really sounds great and plays very well. Any infomation would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you are the owner/founder then I will buy you out for $1 in advance my fellow madman. Series 10 guitars were made by Bently and sold by St Louis Music. Some of the early models were assembled in America but most were korean made. Nice players and very well built. Cheaper models were laminated(plywood) and the Pro models were solid wood. Bolt on necks and so so pickups and electronics but very nice players.

I’ve had a series ten guitar for a few years. I love it, and play it daily. I bought it for fifty bucks, though, and that included an amp, cable, and a little chord book. Pretty sweet deal. I love this guitar. The amp I got is kind of shitty though.

I also just foud one of these. A les paul copy. Played it at guitar center and bought it for 99.00. Mind you I play a custom edition fender strat with a band and was looking for somthing just cheap to mess with. This thing played pretty good. Cant pick it up till the police check is ok’d though. From the setup it looks like someone who knew how to play at least fairly good had it. Cant wait to plug it in to my Hd147 line 6 amp.

: I also purchased a series 10 model from a pawnshop for 30 dollars. Its a Lefthanded, 6 string electric, 2 single coil, and 1 double coil, at the "FloydRose" Bridge. its all black, and the famous "Jackson Sharktooth" inlays on a Rosewood fingerboard neck along with a locking nut. Although their is a serial number on the back of the wellknown, famous "Jackson" designed headstock which reads "#SL8912227", but nowhere, does it show the "Jackson" logo on the instrument. I too, would like to know if it is a copy or not, what year it was made, and everything about the insrument. I have been playing the guitar for 45 yrs. (since I was 8- yrs. old), I know a good Guitar, or a cheap copy, after I play on it a few times, but, I am perplexed at who was the manufacturer of this Guitar. If anyone has any information on this instrument, an e-mail would be deeply appreciated, thank you, Randy !.

I was laid off in Nov,so I’m selling a few things. Check it out and have a good one! And I’ll post any info you add to the listing as I don’t know much about it. Thanks.

it is a very well made strat copy.
        unusually metalic blue color.vibrato.
better than the new budget minded fenders by a long shot.
possibly as good as an american made.
        it was $125.00

        Mr. Bill

        Hey!
        I own a Series 10 strat-type electric guitar,
        Humbucker-Single-Single coil setup w/5-pos. switch,
        whammy-bridge. Maple neck/rosewood fretboard,
Black paintjob w/red fluorescent "crackle" finish,
        reverse headstock w/pos-action tuners.
This is a unique guitar. Glad I have it in my collection.
        Bought second-hand for around $150.00.
I estimate that the original retail price would have been
in the $275.00 to $425.00 price range.
        This guitar really doesn’t "exist"…
impossible to get any info on.
Plays very similarly to a strat, slightly thicker and
slower neck action, but pleasant to play.
Nice tone in the a(HB) and b(SC) pickup selections,
but really strangely distorted, "clacky-chunky" tone on the neck-side c(SC) pickup. Kind of a Z.Z. Toppish/Band of Gypsies Hendrixy tone.
Very unique, and not one of my seven other electric guitars can get that particular sound. I like this guitar and will keep it around and would probably use it live on a couple of songs per night.

        1. I have the very same
          Paul Leblon

I have the very same guitar
I am not so thrilled with the pickups and might change them to better ines

I will have to eventually take to a shop for good tune up since I got it for free from a friend years ago.

It also needs some electronic work

          My collection:
Fender Strat ’85 made in Japan all original
ESP LTD Viper 300 with active EMG pickups
ESP LTD M100-FM with a Rockfield Fat Ass in bridge position
Dean 8 string black beauty, one piece neck
Series 20 pro series super Strat with a Fender Modern Player MP-H1F pickup in bridge

I acquired I pinkish colored changes with the lighting series 10 guitar about the year 2009 in high school for 10 bucks. its the only guitar I have kept over the years. a lot of music stores refer to them as junk guitars but in my eyes its priceless. the Floyd rose on it goes out of tune real easy so I don’t use it but it plays damn good compared to a lot of other guitars I have had. I was told series 10 used to be there own company back in the 80’s which is kind of awesome that I own a piece of the 80’s music era because it is my favorite era of music.

Seriously, who cares what anyone says? If you like your instrument, that’s all that matters. And to be honest, I don’t actually play my bass enough to really know how “good” or “bad” it is, especially since it’s my only bass, so I have nothing to compare it to. But, over all, I’m quite pleased with it – it’s got all I need, good tone, good balance, and feels about right to me.
What DOES kind of surprise me is the case – I’ve paid several hundred for other “better” instruments, but this little Korean cheapie is the only guitar I’ve ever seen that came with a LEFT-HANDED CASE! Now, I’m sure you’re wondering what I’m talking about, but just go look at your own case, and imagine the hinges & handle on opposite sides – I know, it’s a minor thing, but I was impressed that someone actually thought to build a case appropriate to a lefty guitar, and it does, in fact, make it simpler to just grab my axe & get rockin’, so, well done, Series 10! ( Or, should I say;”!01 seireS ,enoD lleW” )

      18. More Series 10
        oleinspector

I am now the proud owner of 2 more Series 10 guitars, both electric. One is a Strat copy and the other is a Les Paul copy. Beautiful sound and stay in tune just like my a/e. By the way my a/e is red. The finish is deep lacquer with a very high gloss. Don’t know if it was buffed with goose feathers but it’s sweet looking.

      19. My series 10 guitar is a BEAST!!
        Patrick

I bought my series 10 guitar about 19 years ago and still have it today. I picked it up for $130.00 forit. When I seen it i thought theres no way Im buying a pink guitar but then I picked it up and played it and it was one of the best feeling guitars I have ever played. It has the famous Jackson shark tooth inlays , 1 single coil neck pick up ,1 single center pick up , and a dual humbucker for the bridge. there are 3 , three way switches for each pick up , a floyd rose style floater tremlo , 24 jumbo fret , rose wood fret board , and a short scale. This thing freekin’ jams!! I play more heavy stuff than anything and even tuned down to c# it stays in tune no matter how much i beat on it and believe me I do. I have played live with it and its crisp and loud with great tone and sustain that lasts forever. i also play many other styles of music and it works great for it all. If anyone has any info on these guitars please let me know cause I would for sure buy another one if it performed like the one I have now. People laugh at it cause its pink but after its plugged in and busting out ear drums and scaring old ladies they all want to know where to find one.

          tommyhunter1

Hi there i have a bently series 10 les paul in pretty near mint condition it also has a custom hard shell
          case i would consider selling

      20. Series 10 Rick knockoff
        JPM

I have owned a Series 10 knockoff of a black Rickenbacker 325. Except for the tailpiece, it is a perfect reproduction. It stays in tune – period. The short-scale neck fits perfect into my hands. I own higher quality name-brand stuff and this one is every bit as good and very fun to play

      21. I have the stratacoustic prototype series10 a/e. Great guitar but all us owners have to be quiet so we can keep buying them. Greatest sound ever, mine stays in tune forever unless there is a drastic temperature swing.

      22. i have a series 10 professional sunbust color ivory inlaid neck
        randy owens

just wonderin what a giutar like it is worth it plays beautifully and is all orginal.

      23. Series 10 a/e
        oleinspector

I have a series10 a/e that is built like the stratacoustic. Same body, same cutouts, same construction, 10 – 15 yrs older. The headstock looks decidedly Jackson. Great guitar with beautiful sound. Wish I could upload photos.

      24. i just got a series 10
        dalton

i just got a series 10 guitar, and it look like a les paul.It has no string and the wires need to be soldered. so i dont know how it sound.does it have a nice sound, and do u think its worth geeting fixed

        1. I just bought one at a pawn
          Anonymous

I just bought one at a pawn shop that is a series 10 and almost identical to the let les paul. I paid $100 for it and it is the best guitar I have ever played. I like playing it better than my strat and would love to buy another one but I cant find one.

      25. Series 10 Professional Electric
        David

I have a S10 Pro and have had in the attic for 3 years in a case. I am not a big music person, but the design and color go from a blue green at bottom to a gold red at the top. I think it was made in 1980 as the serial number starts with an eight zero.

Any ideas what this was a copy of or what the value is worth? It is in like new condition and has been recently tuned.

      26. Bentley Guitar
        ThatGuyOverThere

My first guitar was a Bentley “Fender Mexican” knockoff that another guitarist passed on to me to learn on. I played on it for about 3 years stock. The action on the neck was great. I eventually got another guitar to play in E, and started to customize the Bentley for C tuning. I wired in EMG single-coil pickups, swapped to grover tuners, filed the nut to accept Power Slinky’s, and repainted it. This was one dirty-ass crunching guitar. Passed it on to a friend who wanted to learn to play about 5 years later when I quit playing.

I now own a B.C. Rich Warbeast, and I love it. I still dream about the guitar that got away though.

      27. Series 10
        HashMasterGuitars

I’m sorry to dissapoint everyone here that likes their guitars , but series 10 guitars were the “first act” or “jay turser”‘of their day. There are a few nicer made models ,but for the most part they just look cool.
Most were made in china , Korea, indonesia . You can’t keep track , because most of them had stickers on the neckplate for the serial #’s & got peeled off.
Most have plywood bodies, cheap pickups, & not very stable necks.
If you set it up right, you can have almost any guitar play like butter, but it won’t handle the abuse.
Take care of it if it has meaning to you. I still have an old harmony my dad bought me when I was 10.
I set it up for my 7 year old & it plays great. Cheap guitar I would not record with, but great to learn on.

        1. Not quite
          GoMusicStL

Much better than the first act and jay turser, they were more like filler from SLM after the “death” of Harmony in the 70s. They were modeled after the mainline 80s contemporaries, so pauls, superstrats, etc. They were decent quality, and honestly a step up from the safer Austin line that replaced them in SLM’s catalogs. I’ve had plenty of Series 10s on the bench, they are pretty great for what they were, but would be in direct competition with Squier if they still existed. They wouldn’t be so mythicized if they weren’t hard to come by.

        2. I'd like to preface this
          Anonymous

I’d like to preface this with my definition of a good guitar.
          1 stable neck
          2 stays in tune
3 bridge needs little or no adjusting once set up.
4 no noise in the electronics.

With that said you disappoint no one, Sir. I Got my first guitar in the early 80’s it was a hondoII formula 1 Rhodes offset V. Since then I’ve Owned Gibsons, they all suck necks break or warp constantly. Fenders are still built like they were in the 50’s pieces of crap, given how much you have to shell out for them. I own a pawn shop, and I can tell you there is almost no guitar I haven’t played. The REAL first act of the 80’s was a Dixon. In fact Dixon or silvertone would still be sub par to a first act. In my humble opinion series 10 by Bently were damned good guitars, so were Aria Pro, Hondo, JB PLayer and early 70’d model Yamaha. I have giged with these, I have recorded with these and in every way other than the name they are either on par or superior to any name brand. But then again I only owned Japanese models. I can say however the only fender Strat…or tely for that matter that I ever cared for were both Japanese. In reality a guitar is a tool does it really matter what brand a hammer is if it gets the job done and feels comfortable in your hand? I am somewhat Biased, I think every guitar should play like a mid 80’s Charvel! Over the years I have kept, sold, played on gigged with and recorded with a number of guitars. but here is what I have today and the prices I paid for them you be the judge as far as price to worth ratio…
          hondo II formula I V……………………$350
Aria Pro Les Paul copy (plays way better than the Gibson 58 I owned)
          1985 Series 10 professional LP style………………..$65
          1986 Westone………………………..$75
          Aria Pro II stray cat…………………$85
          PRS …………………………………….$2100
          Kramer 83 Original Baretta………..$350
          Larivee

With the exception of the Kramer the rest all play very much alike. in this line up which would I part with? the PRS. I am now 47 years old and started playing when I was 14. And while i’m no expert, I have played on literally thousands of guitars name brand and pure crap and everything in between and think that my experiences should count for something. There are many myths about guitars but the one that sticks in my craw is if it’s not a fender, gretsch, gibson etc it’s crap…. I can tell you if you want a pretty guitar go get one and put it on the wall… if you want a real instrument and you make enough money to get one to have one custom made at someplace like Ed Roman… if you like to play and want to be in a band, get a series 10 or an aria pro. there is no reason to break the bank because of a name. A quitar is ONE tool in a band. Go play as many kinds as you can make up your own mind about how it feels and sounds and plays to you and ignore the name brand hype. You are the only person’s opinion that matters.

Not that it should matter but here is my rig
Martial series 9001 tube preamp, alesis quadraverb, ART SGX 200 tube reamp and effects into a mosvalve 50/50 amp Rocktron hush, Furman power conditioner and 2 Peavey valveking 4×12 cabs. (pedals… rocktron banshee talk box, morely george lynch dragon wah, Proco Turbo rat distortion pedal, peavey DSC-4 dual clock chorus, TC electronics flanger)

          1. The amp in your rig : )
            Freeway Jam

Please tell us where to buy this Martial series 9001 tube pre-amp that you use !!

He goes on and on telling us how much he knows and how much experience he has,
as he most certainly wants everyone to think he s some kind of expert !!

I find it impossible to believe anyone that plays or is around gear can think it is spelled Martial !!!!!!
Wow, thanks tho, i haven’t laughed so hard in some time ! ( on another aside, i have not heard of, nor can
i find any reference or info / spec’s or any pic’s whatsoever of a Mosvalve 50/50 amp. I do know of a Tube Works
            Mosvalve 500, and i think there s a Mesa 50/50 as well as a Peavey ? 50/50 but neither has mosvalve )

Anyway, one can find a post like this just about daily, always someone going on about owning and or having
played 100s of expensive guitars, and the one guitar he now plays always is his $150 _________ insert name of
low budget / cheap guitar here. It is just tiresome because its so stupid. Above Mr Martial evens claims is 1958 Gibson
was no match for the mass produced, budget built, plywood bodied Series 10 made in China or Indonesia or Korea
in the early to mid 80s Guitar !!! I’m sorry but this is just utter nonsense in every respect ! ( Guitars being built today
in the import country’s have come a long way, and you can pick up fantastic playing guitars in the budget price range )

And please, anyone that owns and loves the Series 10 Guitars. My post is nothing to do with the guitars, ( i have never
seen / held or played one so obviously have no idea what they are like ) and their quality, or if they are good, lousy etc.
If you have one and like it, super. I am just pointing out how stupid the above post i am commenting on comes across.
Typically these type of posts above are made by some guy that goes out garage sale hunting every week and bought
one of these guitars for $50 or whatever ( as many posts here have siad likewise ) and now he is planning to sell it or has
a couple to sell and is planting some “news” to get some interest building, and then hope to sell his whatevers for
much more. Or they own a store / shop / pawn like the above Mr. Martial, and what to charge more for something
that has been taking up space.

        3. RE Series 10 by Bently
          Billy Fishback series collector

Looks like I’m replying to your 2011 post. ALERT!!! The St. Louis Music company made the Bently Series 10’s right here in the USA. They did make professional models and were top of the line models. A Japanese builder named Matsumoku designed and built for them until they sold out to a Korea manufacturer. He then designed many guitars for Westone and you can see the similarities in his work. The Series 10 by Bently with the “KISS” type S’ are the Korean models, and are considered cheap quality. They were then bought out by Austin Guitars… I have over 25 of these gems and they play and perform better then some high dollar brands I’ve played. Always looking for the Bently’s…If anyone re reads these threads contact me…. [email protected]

Dennis, Looks like a Jackson, right? I just picked up a lefty version of the same guitar and it’s also missing the whammy arm. Since it’s a Floyd Rose, you should be able to get a replacement at any well stocked guitar shop. Or try Stewart-MacDonald Guitar Shop Supply
<www.stewmac.com> they carry replacement parts. As far as I know the Series 10 was made by Bently Guitars, now called Austin Guitars, they make copies of many major brands.

I have been collecting bently guitars for years. a serial number from the neckplate would help. also they came in many styles. Pre-Koreans are more sought after by me. the logo tells you where it was made. the logo of a pre- Korean was usually gold with plain block lettering, the korean models will have a Kiss type S (lightning bolt)shape. some newer versions had a pointy curvey headstock where the pre’s had a Jackson hockey stick shape. all together these guitars will be anywhere from $100.00 to $50.00 newer versions. I would pay $200.00 and up for a pre korean Randy Roads V style. Due to the lack of good hardware they do not sell for much. but they are in fact a very nice sounding and playing guitar.

: : I’ve been looking for a Bentley guitar to buy. It’s so hard to find info on them. Where could I find one for sale? Do you have any info on them that would help in my search? Thanks for any help you can give.

: : : I have been collecting bently guitars for years. a serial number from the neckplate would help. also they came in many styles.

I have a series 10 sceptre model 2223kft with c28 original case. Seen a lot of lookalikes but this is the only one of these i’ve seen. Its black with black hardware and fine tuners and has a poitiy shape. Plays easy and sounds good. Believe it was made in 1985. Has the old style series 10 logo. Any info would be appreciated. Video might still be up on Utube, title, radical series 10 guitar. Thanks!

      4. Serial Number?
        Alan

Saw comments about neck plate but nothing on mine??? Any other suggestions . . I got a Pre-Korean model . . .I had it in my attic since 1985 so its probably significantly older . . . Don’t know the official description but its a bright metallic blue with a scalloped butt . . . in good shape except for pickup switch missing its little cap and a “beauty mark” at the tip of one of “scallops” . . .probably from not using a stand or a drop . . . Just curious about thye guitar . . . Has four pickups . . .Appreciate any help identifying the model . . . Thanks . .

I have a bently acoustic guitar i got approx. 33 years ago, looks like a copy of a gibson hummingbird and sounds the best of all my acoustics, which include martin, taylor, gibson, and guild. I am a crazed collector, anyone know anything about this guitar? Think it says model 11, and it is bently instead of bentley. Thanks
