Angus has no gain control on his amps. In the studio he uses a Marshall JTM-45. For live performances he plugs into four Marshall 1959SLPs. Sometimes he'll use an old Marshall JTM-45 mic'd under the stage for live performances. He plugs into the high treble input (top left.)

Presence: 2-3
Bass: 4-5
Middle: 5
Treble: 5-7
Volume 1 (studio): 4-7
Volume 1 (live): 6-10

For amps with gain contols keep it low. Put the gain at about 2 for his studio sound. Put the gain in between 3 and 7 for live sounds. No countour!

Hope this helps.
