Re: comments

First of all, let me say that I don't intend any insult to Priscilla or Stephanie. As far as Stairway To Heaven...a couple of things need to be said: It is a song that was meant and written to be fingerpicked....not strummed (although that doesn't mean it wouldn't sound ok to accompany the song with chords or just to strum it). In the most popular tab you'll find (by Andrew Perret) on it, the chords are all there, in order, along with how to fingerpick it. Now, you say you can't read tablature...well...tablature is not some archaic format...it simply is a visual representation of the neck and strings of a guitar. The numbers on the 'strings' (the lines in a tab file) are the fret numbers you play on that string...the file's list from left to right. Most (fairly good) tabs include the chords that are either held to play individual notes or strummed. The chords are usually above the 'strings' in a tab. Now...if you still cannot seem to figure out tabs...or if, for instance, you've not been able to open them in a program that let's you read them clearly...then I'll give you the sequence of chords of the beginning of song.

Here's the chords used:
(Note: when people put chords in text format
they usually list them like this: Am xx2210.
The chord name is first (A minor in this case)
and then the fingering, which is listed from
6th string to 1st string. All of this should
be very basic stuff...)

x = not played
0 = open string
* = 2 chords of this name are used, but the asterisk will
tell them apart.

Am* xx7555
Am xx2210
Cmaj7#5 xx6557
Cmaj* xx5558
Cmaj x32010
Dmaj* xx4232
Dmaj xx0232
Fmaj7 xx3210
Gmaj 320001

And now the order of the song (the beginning part that is):

Am*
Cmaj7#5
Cmaj*
Dmaj*
Fmaj7
Gmaj
Am

Repeat the above once...

Cmaj
Dmaj
Fmaj7
Am
Cmaj
Gmaj
Dmaj

Cmaj
Dmaj
Fmaj7
Am
Cmaj
Dmaj
Fmaj7 3 times

There you go. There are the chords for the first part of the song. I hope this is at least a bit helpful. It truly is a beautiful song...Take care, and keep playing.
