Referred to as the Next Seattle there is a movement, almost a revolution in music and ground zero is middle class suburbia, your town, Long Island. Positive Logic has been at the forefront of this revolution, lighting stages on fire from Central Park to all corners of Long Island. A group of musicians with uniquely different backgrounds, thrown together to compete in a local battle of the bands, set the framework for what is now Positive Logic. The frontman, on guitar and vocals, Blue Bill Buffa, has his roots firmly planted in the street punk and NY hardcore scene that once thrived in the mid 90s. Guitarist Kris Buchter draws influences from all ages and genres of music, ranging from Boston, to 311, to AFI. The Bassist Joe Joeybass Sagarese is a rabid fan of punk/hardcore, as well as such classics as Pink Floyd. The drummer Doug Parrish is a progressive metal drummer who is inspired by artists like Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart. To explain the sound of the band without actually hearing them is always a difficult proposition. One fan had described them as the perfect mix of alternative, fast hardcore and pop punk. I can guarantee that the chorus of every song on their demo will be permanently embedded in your head. The driving, persistent backbeats of the rhythm section fuse seamlessly with anthem like vocals, while the huge guitar sounds create a sonic barrier that hits the listener like a Mack truck loaded with quick drying cement. One can appreciate the musicianship of Positive Logics members and join the circle pit all in the same instant. Their music gets to the point and beats you over the head with it until you scream for more. Positive Logic struggles to find an existence outside of the Image Rocknorm that has been set by other bands. At their shows you will see four guys playing their collective asses off, which really is the bottom line. People of all different ages and walks of life can appreciate the melodic yet stabbing vocals of Bill, the expert guitar playing of both himself and Kris, and the most solid, tightly packed rhythm section since the early Chili Peppers. Their Demo(only a fraction of their written material) was written, recorded, and produced by only the members of Positive Logic and was released in mid January. The music will speak for itself. Positive Logic sets the benchmark for professionalism in their genre. Their originality and diversity have made them a prominent part of the Long Island music scene. They will rock you and you will become a believer. So, get some friends together and rock out like you never thought possible. |
