Crash Control was originally formed by founding member Dave French. Dave first picked up the guitar at the age of 16 and immediately took an interest in writing music and lyrics. In the early 1990's, Dave formed the band The Sound Of Fury, which would become an early incarnation of Crash Control. The band started out very ambitiously with a drive to write new and original music that was heavy, but didn't fall into the typical metal genre of the time.

For years, the band devoted much of it's time to writing and recording. Personal projects had sometimes sidetracked the band in the mid to late 90's, but towards the end of the 90's, the idea of the band started to reform and the band name was officially changed to Crash Control.
