Kirk Hammet is a good guitarist, a common downstroker wont be able to play his solos, but on the other hand he is not the best. If u think he is the best, listen and watch yngwie malmsteen, Michael angelo or franceso fareri. The reason he changed his style is because he was tired of the stuff he was doing and wanted to do something he wanted to do.
