: : Steve, I also aquired a emperador but I didn't even know where it was from. My dad had it since he was young so I know it's pretty old, and his parents have traveled all over the world. Unfortanatly, me being only 19, and my dad and grandparents that would of known anything about it past away about 5 and 6 years back. If you know any thing else please let me know
: i to just purchased a electric acoustic 12 string emperador, they where made in japan and then later in korea in 50's or60s that's all i found out on these instruments. i to would like more info.
I also have an Emperador. It's a Les Paul copy made in Japan with Grover machineheads & mother of pearl inlay. This guitar plays beautifully & has such great sustain, it allows me to handle Santana numbers etc. I got mine at a pawnshop 15yrs ago & even then it seemed as old as the hills. I've been trying to find out about the company, when the guitar was made etc.but have got nowhere. Does anyone know anything about these guitars?

hello,i too have an emperador, flat top acoustic,6 string,
model AW 4. it has a hummingbird, and a small butterfly, with the hummingbird feeding on the flowers.
it is in darn near perfect condition, except for a couple of minor scratches,it plays decent and sounds good. made in korea. i got it from my wife's ex-husband. i think i gave him 35 or 45.00 for it about 6 years ago. i don't have any idea how old it is,the white inlay on the body looks kind of yellowed from age. it has mother of pearl inlayed in frets. any info anyone has would be appreaciated.
thanks for your time.

Hi All, I also have an Emperador bought 2nd hand. I was told it was made in Japan in 1974 and it looks like a 335 but with a rolling bridge similar to a Gretch. a bit a mongrel butnice to play and sounds ok as long as you can keep it in tune. My guitar teacher remembered them as being cheap and Japanese in the 70,s but they seem to have lasted. I am also interested in finding out more if anyone has any further information on these guitars.
