BC Rich Temple of Worship

Hi,
Just a wee bit of background about myself I am
29, and have been playing guitar/bass for 15 years .
Throughout the years I have had Gibsons, Fenders,
Rickies, Yamahas, Ibanez, Washburns etc… and was
generally very happy with what I had at that time. I
then discovered B.C. Rich guitars and was hooked.
They beat every competitor in every dep., build
quality, sound, variety of woods, pickups etc, support
was fantastic and so on. I then began to collect more
B.C. Rich’s and haven’t been disappointed with any of
them.

  1. I have had a BC Rich snake skin for about15 years but it hasn’t been played for about 5 years? Is it worth getting it fixed or just trade it in?\nHow much would one of these guitars be worth?

    1. Re: Snakeskin
      Davetopay

What series is it? NJ, USA, Customshop, Platinum, Rave? What needs fixing? Finally, value is tough to put on on this guitar without knowing the shape, series, serial number, and what hardware it was equiped with. That being said, I might be interested it it.

: i have a BC rich pink(ish) mockingbird that i would like to find the value of. Model # R 921083. It also says made in Japan on the metal bracket thing that holds the neck on. (sorry don;t know the technical name seeing as i am a drummer!) i’m assuming this guitar is made in the 80’s from other ones I have seen but would like more info if anyone can help me out! thanks

What is really going to help determine when this was made is the design of the headstock and the style of the lettering on it. This sounds like an early NJ model and is one of the early ones. Value will vary based upon color, options, originality and overall condition. Most of this era with a Badass bridge and a pair of original pickups will go for around 300 bucks with original case. Some will go higher with more options. Your best bet is to look around on ebay and find similar items.

  2. Wanted. Bich Supreme black
    Ulf

Hello, I am looking for something that is not easy to find.\nThis guitar would be Bich Supreme with the specs that Kerry King uses on his Wartribe. Kahler Flatmount (which calls to be factory set because it wouldn’t fit otherwise), Floyd Rose saddle, EMGs and not too many many wizard electronics. The important thing: the guitar should be black. Something that makes it rate, I guess.\nIf anyone sees or has something to offer, let me know…

i have a gunslinger that is #B69XX that i bought in 1987. i don’t think the Bxxxx ser #s stayed in order. so your guitar could be later than mine. i would say around ’87 is pretty close though.

i would recomend this guitar to anyone, i agree with the site manager when he says b.c rich’s are better than all others, lets hope the b.c rich beast that i’m getting will live up to my expectations!!!

      chris_x

I had that guitar like 15 years ago and know for a fact this guitar is not that nice. I would not recomend this guitar unless are fairly new to playing but still think there are better necks and the iron bird body is not that user friendly. This guitar did stay in tune a lot but it had the locking system. The tremelo was ok too. Oh, also had to change the pickups so put EMG’s in it.

      1. Re: b.c rich warlock

How nice this guitar is will depend largley upon 2 things. WHen it was made and what series it is. You won’t catch me buying any new BCrich guitars, that’s for sure.

I know everyone says that in order to tell a Class Axe, to look for the TM on the headstock. I have a USA ST-III and there is no TM on the headstock, just MADE IN USA. However, on the back plate, there is a TM next to BC Rich and above the serial number. Is this a Class Axe, or a real USA.

    Hi,

I’ve been playing guitar for about 15 years and recently have got hold of a Red BC Rich Gunslinger. I have been searching the net for info re. these guitars but to no avail.

It has a BC rich Floyd rose trem, 1 humbucker mounted straight (I have seen some which are angled), with BC rich written on the pickup. The headstock is black and just says BC Rich on it. Where the neck and body join there is an inscription on the plate – It says – LA California, USA. the serial number is – BC30220

I’d be really grateful for any info you might have on this guitar (e.g. Approx age etc..)

    Many Thanks

  10. Dating 1980s NJ series guitars by serial number....and other general info

Is this even possible? I have a couple of what I believe to be 1986-1987 NJ Warlocks that are just incredible guitars. One with the double locking Kahler and the other with the single locking floyd. I would also like to know what kind of wood these were made from. I have heard stories about the NJ series having some guitars that were started in Japan and had the finish work done in California. Is this true?

trying to date these guitars without a pic would be impossible. i do know the only bcr guitars made in japan and assembled in the US are the US production series. these had "R" logos on the headstock and Uxxxx ser. #s.
if you could post pics of these on the mcs board i’m sure someone could give you a pretty good idea of the year and specs.

: Hello How do I find out what my guitars are worth. I have a 10 string bich that is from 1976 or 77 and a warlock from 1986-87

Your Bich is very unlikely to be from 1976 especially as Neal Moser, the designer of the Bich and the electrics never built the prototype until September of 1977-send me pictures and the serial numbers of both guitars and I’ll date them both for you,I am part of the unofficial serial number database team

    2. Re: What are my BC Rich guitars worth

The 10 string is worth some coin if it is in nice shape and well cared for……well into the 1500+ range. The 86-87 warlock…really depends upon if it is a USA or NJ.

Thanks so much for the answer – The bich was bought and hardly played maybe 2 times and has sat in the case all the time its KOA wood. The warlock was a gift – which again I never really played. I don’t know how to tell it it is USA or NJ (what is NJ BTW) I can tell you it is different then some I have seen as the the neck is smooth or all one peice to the body

        1. Re: What are my BC Rich guitars worth
          Davetopay

If the Warlock is a Neck-thru from the 80’s it is a USA model. If it was NJ(Nagoya Japan) it would have it on the headstock, the neck would be bolt on, and the serial number would start with a letter.

You must have some kick-ass friends and family to get stuff like that as a gift. What color is the Warlock and what kind of bridge is in it?

          1. Re: What are my BC Rich guitars worth
            Lorne

The Warlock may not necessarily be an American Made Guitar if it HAs a "U" above the serial number-That would indicate a Japanese amde guitar that was final assembled in America:-)

  14. What year was the Snakeskin coloured (body art?) Warlock Produced?
    Chris

I recently saw a warlock in a guitar shop near my house that has a snakeskin paint design on the fron side of the body. this guitar looks to be like a body art edition, but I have no clue what year. It says platinum series on the headstock and has a 3 way pickup switch, and also a switch for series/parallel I think. The tremolo system is also similar to that of a strat with strings thru body, rather than the usual floyd rose or khaler style on BC Rich’s. Anyone have any ideas what edition or year this model could be?

G’day all, I am writing as I recently purchased a 2nd hand BC Rich warlock, the plate on the back of the neck says "BC Rich, L.A. California", and it has made in U.S.A. on the headstock. The serial # is BCI 1270. I wonder if anyone could help me find out when the beast was made and what series it is (if it is from a series) and what it might be worth either when it was made or now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers!

        Greg

I’ve seen these go for close to $2000. I’m going to want to get at least $1500. Are you still interested?

      Greg

I’ve got a real beauty that I’d like to sell – handmade USA Mockingbird, incredible flame maple w/clear finish, active electronics… the works. It’s 100% original, and in near mint condition. Plays like a dream, looks awesome. Serial # is 83848, so that probably dates it to around 1979 or 1980, I guess. If anyone is interested, send me an email and I’ll get some pics over to you. I’m about to put it on eBay, but I found this site and figured the real BC Rich freaks are here, so I thought I’d post a message and see what happens.

      2 sings. & 1 hum = ST3, not gunslinger.
the gunslingers only had 1 slanted hum.
guessing by the ser# its probably an import guitar.
unless it has made in USA on the headstock.
the LA,Calif on the neck plate only states where the company was based from not where the guitar was built.

does it have anything on the headstock like Made in USA, NJ Series, Platinum Series?

      Warlock

i dont recall ever seeing any class axe era set neck guitars so it probably is a neck thru. and even though the guitars aren’t thought of that well(being class axe) they did make some nice usa guitars.

I can borrow a digital camera and take some photo’s but have no clue what it’s worth. The list when I bought it back in 1980-something was $2400. I know it’s USA made. I believe they called it LA Series. I just don’t want to go through the trouble if someone’s gonna offer me $50. Know what I mean?

  26. Rick Derringers First Stealth
    Jim Leslie

I happen to see your site and thought this might be of intrest. I purchased Rick Derringers first ever BC Rich (stealth) last year and I am going to Dallas this week to interview Rick in regards to this guitar. It is one of the most pro sounding guitars I’ve ever recorded with. Along with the serial number Rick had it named "Little Dymie". For history’s sake I thought I should gather as much information as possible. Keep playing that rock and roll, Jim Leslie

  27. Need help identifying Nj Warlock.
    EfficientButcher

I was wondering if anyone could help me indentify my nj series warlock, to see the year or anything. I bought it from a pawnshop a while back. I think it may be a early 90’s or so warlock. If anyone knows a place to identify the serials or anything contact me.

  28. Older USA BICH for sell
    RICHARD EARLS

I have a WHITE ’80s US neck-thru Bich for sell. I thought it was a Supreme, but have been informed that Supremes ONLY came with neck binding and ebony boards. Mine is unbound, rosewood board, GOLD hardware, the inlayed "R" in the headstock and all the goodies (pre-amp, chorus, distortion, etc). To the best of my knowledge, everything is working fine. Recently had the battery wire fixed and everything else was checked by a professional…he said she "sounded GREAT for a 20-year-old guitar". It has the original hardshell case and an interesting feature…a gold-plated plate inlayed in the back of the headstock with the serial number (81269) above "THE BITCH" engraved in Old English lettering (notice the added ‘T’). She’s about a 8 out of 10 condition-wise, having MINOR finish repair where the paint was damaged. If anyone is interested, I have pics and am asking $1500. Thanks. – Richard

  30. Bich Wiring
    RICHARD EARLS

I have an early 80s Bich Supreme that has a broken wire on one of the battery connectors. I can’t locate schematics for the early guitars online. Anyone able to draw where the battery wires lead to and I can send a SAS envelope for the drawing? No one here locally know how to repair the wiring. Oh yeah, has a strange feature…a brass plate on the back of the headstock containing the serial number and the words "THE BITCH" engraved in Old English lettering (notice the "t" has been added to the name). No idea what she’s worth but thinking about putting her up for sell once repaired for about $1500 w/ orininal case. Let me know about the wiring please. Thanks.
