BC Rich Temple of Worship

Hi,
Just a wee bit of background about myself I am
29, and have been playing guitar/bass for 15 years .
Throughout the years I have had Gibsons, Fenders,
Rickies, Yamahas, Ibanez, Washburns etc… and was
generally very happy with what I had at that time. I
then discovered B.C. Rich guitars and was hooked.
They beat every competitor in every dep., build
quality, sound, variety of woods, pickups etc, support
was fantastic and so on. I then began to collect more
B.C. Rich’s and haven’t been disappointed with any of
them.

  1. Mockingbird: What year is it? 717 under Floyd cover.
Todd D. Playing BC Rich over 30 years!

I can’t find any serial number on this Mockingbird NJ guitar and wnt to know what year it is. Just has #717 engraved into the wood under the Floyd Rose spring cover. It’s under the stock paint too, so it wsn’t added after production. I got this Mockingbird NJ Neck Thru TM, with a Floyd Rose, BC signature pups, quilted top, on eBay for $325.00. The guy selling bought it used and didn’t know anything about it. It has the fancy late logo on headtock. Great workmanship, straight as an arrow, acoustics of the wood are awesome. I can’t belive how kickass it is and for only $325.00, near perfect! I plan to add Seymour Duncans and other goodies to really make it crank. Thanks for any info! …T

  2. Warlock Platinum Series
    TravisB

A friend of mine gave me an older Warlock that he had sitting around at his house. It’s a bolt on neck Platinum Series serial # E614521. I’m trying to get more info on it (such as the date it was made) as it does not have a bridge on it, and I would like to replace it with an original bridge (if possible).

I’ve been all over the net trying to date this guitar. It’s not like any other Warlock that I can find a pic of. It has two knobs and two toggles. All the other Warlocks I can find have three knobs and one toggle. Any info you guys can offer would be most appreciated. I’d love to get this guitar back to playable condition and as authentic as possible.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to replies. 🙂

I have this same basic guitar. Serial #614447. I bought mine in the mid eighties. I bought it used, but it was not very old at the time. So I belive these are probably mid to early 80’s vintage. This was not a very expensive guitar at the time maybe around $150.00 range.

I currently own two bc richs, a 1983 rich bitch supreme with active electronics, and 1969 bc rich Les Paul shape, which according to vintage guitar magazine the first of only ten guitars made, it has no serial numbers, Gibson tuners, knobs, pickups, its made out of mahogony, black with diamond inlays, does anyone else have any information, how much is it worth. 6. Question on my oddball Lefty BC Rich
    Fred

Heya all – hoping you might know something of this guitar.

    First, here’s some pics:

    http://home.earthlink.net/~fred.clark/Front_3.JPG
    http://home.earthlink.net/~fred.clark/Back_resize.JPG

I bought the guitar used around 1992 for approx $350.00 in traded gear. I added the pickup rings and chrome knob, but all else is as I got it. It has a Seymore Duncan Alnico II in the front and a JB in the rear, and a pull tap on the volume for the front pickup. The tuners are black Grover minis, and the bridge is a standard Floyd Rose. Other than some corrosion on the neck plate there’s not a scratch on it. The shop I bought it from said it was a custom order that the previous owner didn’t like as the neck was wider than he was comfortable with (great for me as my hands are big) so the owner traded it to him and that’s all he knew about it. I assumed this to be from the "Class Axe" days, but the "LA California" stamp on the neck plate and the angle of the neck heel seem not to jibe with those guitars, not to mention the grade of hardware. The serial number is "B 8256" but I couldn’t tell from the breakdown of serial numbers on your site what year it might have been built.
I’m not looking to sell it as it sounds amazing (sustain like a synth on this thing!) but it would be intersting to know what year, where it was built etc.

I’m not looking to sell it as I love the guitar (sustain on this thing is amazing!) but I’d be interested in knowing if it’s a BC LA, Class Axe, whatever, and what it might be worth. I’ve never seen another quite like it so it’d be interesting to find out!

Thanks in advance and hope you can help

    Fred

Hi Fred, that is an Assassin from about 1987 or 1988,so nothing to do with Class Axe-very unusual to have the paintjob go all the way around the body-the cover over the trem springs is not original though and the cavity cover shows it to be American:-)

Nice – thanks for the reply! It does seem to be rather an unusual beast – glad it came from the BC Rich shop.

I checked out the website but I couldn’t find anything even close to what I have. The serial # is BC14235 it has the MADE IN THE U.S.A just below the BC Rich logo 1 Humbucker and 2 single pickups . 1 tone & 1 Volume & 3 mini switches. If anyone could tell what year it was made or what series is it?

You cannot really date Bolt on guitars acurrately from their serial numbers,as the neckplate was just grabbed out of a large box in the middle of the assembly table

Best guess is 1989 from the number and it is a ST-III model

It is a Real USA made BCR-not all-or indeed many USA made BCRs had the "Made In USA" Stamp

  9. Need new Floyd Rose for platinum ST
    Brian K

The tremolo on my old but trusty platinum ST has irrepairably broken, so I need a new one. Unfortunately, the post hole are different from the ‘standard’ Floyd Rose (meaning, I can’t pick one up from the local guitar shop), and I don’t want to go plugging old holes and drilling new ones into the guitar if I can help it. So can anyone shed any light on what exactly was fitted into these guitars, how they differ from the normal tremolos and where I might be able to pick one up from.

    Hope all that made sense!

I guess you are talking about the single locking terrible floyd copy bc rich used in the early 90s. i don’t believe there anything made now to fit. the best thing is to keep an eye on ebay they pop up there once in a while.
the best thing is going to be fill and drill new post holes and put a better trem on it.

your price is way too high. it’ll never sell at that. you may be able to get $500 out of it. maybe a little more if you’re lucky. even though not many were made they were still a lower level import guitar.

as for the shipping i’d pack the guitar and take it to ups to check the cost. i’ve never paid that much to ship a guitar.

Hi guys. I have had one of these for years. The Serial Number is B4230, with LA California on the neck plate & TM beside BC Rich Logo (so obviously USA Made), with a Bad Ass bridge. It has the older shape, with the more triangular shaped headstock, maple neck and rosewood fretboard (22 frets). It’s hardly been used in the past 10 years. Blood red colour. It has some typical wear on the body. It’s in a full hard case. I’d really appreciate some feedback. Thanks a lot 😉

          MarkL

I am trying to find the value of a rich bich 10 string. I bought it in 1986. I realize the serial number shows 87 but could be two to 4 years off based on what I have read. It definitely is American made and the electronics are basic. No fancy array of switches which I believe became in vogue years later. A gorgeous guitar and it really is in immaculate condition as I rarely played it.
Anyone have any idea of value ?

  18. Bich 2 digit serial number value/history?
    Bobby

I own a maple bich with the serial number BICH22. I was told at one time that this was from the first lot of 50 made for its introduction at the NAMM show. I have owned it since 1985, and it has served as sculpture ever since. It is almost undetectable from new. Just some faint burnishing of the back plastic is the only evidence of wear. All absolutely original, near as I can tell.

I’m not really interested in selling, unless somebody wants to get really crazy. I do need to declare a value for insurance. Anyone know more about this guitar, or what it’s worth?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I have a BC Rich Ironbird Bass NJ Series I am looking to sell. I think the year this was made was in 1985, the serial number on my plate is B5785. Does anyone know for sure. Also, does anyone know a way for me to get an estimate on what it is worth online? Thanks in advance.

    1. Re: B C Rico Mockingbird Serial Info/Value
      Davetopay

Not too sure on the serial number, but the fact that it has RICO instead of Rich on the headstock makes it an earlier import model. The RICO guitars are also a bit more of a rarity as they were switched to the RICH name early in their production. I’d be will ing to bet that you could get between 300 and 500 for it assuming it is in pristine shape and has the Kahler tremelo. Other things that can help with pin pointing the age of this instrument are the way the serial number is applied and any prefix that may be before the numbers. Hope this helps some!

      1. Re: B C Rico Mockingbird Serial Info/Value
        SRS

: Thanks for the input. I knew it must be an earlier import, but I’m not sure if it falls in the aerlier/blocked group of imports from the lawsuit. There is no prefix to the number on the back of the head stock. The number is very clear and almost looks like it was stamped into the head but there are no real grooves or indentations, just looks likea a very dark, clear stamping job that seems to be a permanent ink, etc. I don’t know about the tremelo, but the only replacements on the guitar have been the strings.

        1. Re: B C Rico Mockingbird Serial Info/Value
          Davetopay

If it has the name RICO on the headstock it is pre-lawsuit. I’d hold on to it and enjoy playing it, if I were you.

I have a B C Rico Mockingbird I bought in 1983 while stationed in San Antonio, TX (clearance sale for about $300). It has 24 frets (I believe rosewood), three control knobs, and one switch. At the top on the back is the serial number 1759. About 5 inches below it is a sticker saying Made In Japan. The action is incredibly low with no buzz. Friends who’ve used it, fall in love with it. It’s in very good condition and actually has not had a lot of play/wear and tear. Does anyone have other info, value estimates, etc. I’ve checked several sites (officel BC Rich, etc) w/o much luck. Thanks

honestly, your guitar is no better than any other acrylic warlock. they made tons of the w/ acrylic headstocks. they stopped because the plastic headstocks snap off easy. and sadly your asking price is about double what its really worth.sorry.

      1. Re: selling high end acrylic warlok not one of the cheepys
        bumplewart

p.s. i know its american made cuz it came out of the factory here in cinccinati and no they didnt make tons of the 2005 models (i havea frien that works at the main shop in cincinati)so really my price is great and as i said it is by no means firm.(might wanna do more homework)

    hi guys.

i don’t know much about it but here are the basics: Bolt on. It’s a see-through red, with white bindings on Both body neck and Headstock. the hedstock is a 3 per side.
    the serial number is BC41177
i tried the official website but that did’nt Help me much…
The closest reansemblense i’ve seen to it, in terms of body shape(with thoes "hard" edges) and controls, and controls placement. is the line of Bc Rich retro axes. the ones thats ment to be like the pre 80’s guitars..

    Hoping for the best

could be. Usa made, neckthru, nice woods, right hardware….entirely possible. Could also only pull 400-500 bucks if it is a bolt on with a crappy finish and no extras.

  26. Value of USA Warlock Mid 80's?
    Brad

I’ve got a pearl white USA neck through BC Rich Warlock with a built in pre amp and active electronics and I was wondering about what it is worth?

    1. Re: Value of USA Warlock Mid 80's?
      Dave

It really depends upon its overall condition and what options it has. What bridge? What year is it? What headstock? What pickups? How is the paint?

I would be willing to bet you can get well over 1500 with some really good pics of it on ebay.

      1. Re: Value of USA Warlock Mid 80's?

It was either a 84 or 85 I think. It had active electronics with a built in preamp. On the headstock it had all the tuners on the top. I don’t know which particular headstock it was. It had DiMarzio pickups. I don’t know what kind of bridge it had. The paint was in great condition except for a dent at the end of one of the points that was on it when it came in new. I did list it on Ebay and a guy offered me $800 for it on the first day to end the auction early and I did. Maybe I should have let it run on out.

  27. Proto Gunslinger - no serial number - HELP
    Papacoon

I have A USA Gunslinger-maple fretboard-reverse headstock with a finish I would describe as an old nautical map. Colors consist of mostly black and greys with mild brown. There are pics of old pirate ships, sea monsters and points of interest written on the map. There is no serial number on the neck plate or on the body next to the bridge. The word "proto" is stamped on the back of the neck behind the nut.It has an active EMG humbucker. Can anyone help me to date this guitar and possibly get a history and ballpark figure on what it`s worth? It`s condition is good-some nicks and scratches-fretboard is discolores(like EVH`S). Thanks for your time.

Have you pulle dthe neck off to see if there is a date in the neck pocket? How about under the pickup? Have you had the volume pot dated?

Is there a serial nnumber on it at all? If not, you may have something VERY special there. This could be one of the aguitars made from before Bernie got into building electrics.

It has no serial number, on the inside is the label which has the BC Rich logo and reads "handcrafted since 1930" on it, then there is the space for the model number and serial number, and there is only a model number.

        Anonymous

I bought this new from Bernie in the early 70’s, and it is supposed to be 1 of 2 that he crafted at the time. It has inlaid ebony on a mahogany neck ivory edging, beautiful figured maple book-end back and sides, no truss rod, spruce top, with hand cut herring bone perfilling. It’s a model B-30 serial no. 404394. I’ve seen the other one on line but can’t find the page so all I know is that it’s in Cali. someplace. I know mine was built at his dad’s shop before he went out on his own. I’d like to sell, as I am no longer able to play due to an injury.

Hope you see this, which is not likely I realize.
