I am trying to help a friend with the sale of an approx. 3 to 4 year old Danelectro DC-59 reissue (wine red) model. I can EBay it, but I am also considering buying it and keeping it in my collection.
It is in good condition but has been played, thus has surface scratches (nothing into the paint) the accent tape is pulling up slightly in the deep groove areas, again nothing out of the ordinary, modest fret wear on the first three frets, still some life. Overall good condition, and will clean up well, but not outstanding or "mint".
The problem I am having is determining a fair value if I want to keep it. I have been researching EBay, the web etc... and this particular guitar is kind of in a wierd situation. It appears they no longer make them. As best I can tell, new they went for around $200 to $250. Used the prices are all over and there aren't enough of them I can find on completed auctions and what not to determine what is a fair but good price for one of these.
Any insight is appreciated.
