Re: Fender Catalina acoustic
: Hi. I've had a Catalina since about '87. Fantastic sound and tonal quality. Wouldn't play anything else. I've found it difficult finding info on them though, even at Fender. Did they do any other colours? Mine's Black.
My wife purchased a Fender Catalina for me in the early 1980s, right after we got married. She told the guy at the guitar shop that I really liked nice things. He turned her on to a black body Fender Catalina. What a beautiful instrument. Not only has it retained it's beautiful finish, it made it through two sons. The guitar plays as beautiful today as the day I got it for my birthday. I prefer this guitar to any other I have ever played and still enjoy pulling it out and making beautiful noise. I am not a professional musician but have played since 1966. The only ones I have seen are black body with white edging. The thin Strat neck is great for fingering tunes and I have the dreaded "fat finger tips" and can still hit each string cleanly. Not to many for sale and most that are are in pretty bad shape. I can't put a price on mine as I will never part with it but assume they can easily get well over $750 for a really clean unit and around $250 for one that has seen better days.

I bought one about 6 years ago for a little over 100.00 and it has been a great guitar. Some of you may not know this but this is an electric acoustic. Just plug a 1/4 guitar cable into the strap holder. I also converted mine and put a pickup in it and volume and tone knobs and its now even better.
