Fender Coronado ???

Any ideas what the story is with this Fender semi-hollowbody.

The headstock just says Fender. The neck is dated 10APR66B
The serial on the neck plate is 501xxx, which supposedly indicates 1973-1974. Looks like a Coronado. But were they even making them as late as 73-74? Also the 3-way switch is located down near the volume and tone pots, not up on a horn. (baby Schallers and the Nashville Tuneomatic were replacements of the original parts). I'm the second owner. Bought it in 1979. The previous owner said he found it under the XMAS tree from his parents.
