Alvarez 12 string 5018

A few years ago I picked up a alvarez 12 string at a pawn shop at what I considered a very good price ($125). The guitar is made in Japan (maybe all are, not familiar with alarez)and the peghead is cut sqare instead of the more rounded cut I see on modern alvarezs. Judging by the yellowing binding, it apears to be about 20 to 30 yrs old. On the inside bracing by the trussrod adjustment, num 78 is stamped. Is that the mfg year? Mod# is 5018 ser# is 851561. It would be cool if any alvarez connoisseurs could enlighten me. Thanks
