That’s right kids. Finally, a site devoted to all you guitar-wielding nuts out there looking for a few good ideas to expand upon your ever-growing palette of sounds. Beyond your eager mouse clicks you will encounter the world’s largest archive of your favorite indie guitarist’s live set-ups rendered in vivid, easy to read schematics, painstakingly assembled for you, the viewer.

And, as if that weren’t enough, we have expanded the Guitar Geek to include meaningful technical interviews with some of the more prominent do-it-yourself home recording enthusiasts who are twiddling their knobs for you, the people. But wait,there’s more! We also have a sound effects section chock full of downloadable sound samples of all the different guitar effects as well a brief description, in our own lo-tech language, of what these effects do .

This section is great for those of you who might be a bit unfamiliar with what all these sonic gadgets do and just want to know more. Also. if you’d like to make a submission to this site or would like to see a particular artist entered into our archive please e-mail us with the info or kind request, and we’ll do the rest, baby.

    Looking to build a small rig for playing clubs. I want to put together a pedal-based rig on the platform of something like a Neural QC or Victory V4 pedal amp. Wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these units and how you like them using them in a live setting.

    everyone out there im in need of some help, there is this preacher who just turned 85, who has been looking for his guitar amp for years, and i happened to find it for him in his attic. the only problem is that his amp has no power chord on it, and i need the schematics to see where i need to solder the wire back into it….. the amp is old school it is a "tele-star M12" amp please help if you can thanks alot and god bless

  8. VOX pacemaker

    Greetings,
    I have an old VOX Pacemaker (solid-state) that has seen little use over the last 30 years. I’ve cleaned it up and replaced a couple of parts and it works wonderfully… but I’m afraid the footswitch (two-button that controls midrange boost and tremolo) has gone missing.

    Here’s my (possibly silly) question. Anyone have any idea whether or not the VOX VFS2 footswitch (currently an option for the pathfinder) will work for the Pacemaker? Slim chance, I know. But I was hoping someone might have some knowledge on the subject and perhaps save me the trouble of ordering one and having to send it back if it doesn’t work.

      I got a Vox Astro IV hanging on my wall. It’s a niece Sunburst and originates from the 60ties. I got some 10 years back from a friend of my dad, who had it in his basement. The finish is highly cracked, but it’s still 100% original. It only misses the chrome bridge cover.

      I haven’t foun any schematics so far, but itt seams very straightforward, vol-pu switch-treble.

      any idea where I might be able to find the year of manufacture? It has a serial on the neck plat.

          I just picek up the Astro. They were all made aroound 1967/68 in Italy. May be a brazilian rosewood neck…the catalog calls it a "polished" neck… and hand bound.Adjustable master bridge channel, 2 "expanded range PU’s, called an "electric acoustic..technically called a astro IV V251, great lush deep tone, lots of difference in the PU’s neck PU full mid is mid, and bridge is the weakest, really noticeable, any ideas what you’d set it up with, round wounds or flat????? I’ll keep eye out for scematics, have most of them for fender. thanks, cindy in NJ

    I have a standard mexican stratocaster, and I’d just like to rewire it so that all I have is one pickup and a volume knob. I tried it the other day and failed. Thanks for the help

    Hi everyone. I really need some help with my guitar but I know very little about electronics. Any advice that anyone here could give me would sure be appreciated.

    I have a typical fender strat/squir. The problem with it is that the ground wire on my output jack disconnected. When I unscrewed the jack to take a look at it the main wire disconnected. I was thinking about sodering them back on to the jack but the ground wire was too short. With some wire cutters I tried to get some of the rubber lining off so I could have some more wire. Unfortunately the wire is so small that I couldn’t do it. My friend had this nifty little trick of burning the rubber off but he burnt all of the rubber on the ground wire. So now instead of having a regular connection and a ground wire, I just have one big wire. Well that didn’t stop my from trying to soder some of the wire to the main connection and some of the wire to the ground. After I got done I tried my guitar out but I’m still getting no sound.

    What the hell can I do to fix this?

    I need schematics of a Vox Cambridge Reverb…The ones that I have found are a Cambridge Reverb with a total of 6-12ax7’s…… but the one I have has 3-12ax7, 1-12au7,2-el84 and 1-6ca4…am I reading the schematic wrong???????

      Absolutely. Try http://www.schematicheaven.com . I found a newly drawn pdf in the Vox section. Also there are lots of other schematics as the name implies. When I need a schem, I check them first.

  27. Pickup Blend/Master volume Bass rewiring

    I own a two pickup, two volume, one tone, passive electronic bass, and I want to rewire it to have a Master volume, pickup blend and tone knobs. Does anyone know how to do this ?

      You should check out Anderton’s "Electronic projects for musicians" for the Blend Control. It’s actually more complicated to do then you might think. You technically need a log/antilog taper pot, but Anderton shows a way to get around this. The book is a good reference to have around anyway. (check the library, its a popular book)

      First you have to learn how to spell connect! Then pull off the cover change the pickups by wiring them exactly the way they are already, wire for wire.
