This is a great resource for Jagmaster fans and owners. This is a great and pretty rare guitar, which was only made by Fender for 2 years.

  6. '57 Humbuckers in Jagmaster

    I’m taking on a project which is to install 2 Gibson ’57 humbuckers into a MIJ Jagmaster. Does anyone have any tips and wiring diagrams for doing this? The main concern I have is that the 57’s are 2 conductor, and actually the braided shielding is the ground, so I.E., the pickup has only one wire coming out of it. I’m under the impression that the stock Seymour Duncan pickups have at least 2 separate wires coming out of each. I’ve called a tech at a local shop and he says it can work, i’ll need to strip the braided shielding off and twist it into a wire, then solder it to a ground area somewhere in the guitar. Has anyone any success with this type of scheme?

      you are right the way you describe it. i did it on my jagmaster last night with blue ’59 pickups which also have only one wire + braided shield as ground.

  18. Wiring/rewiring

    My Jagmaster stopped working a few days ago so I took it apart and found out that a wire running from my tone pot to my volume pot isn’t connected to my volume pot. I don’t know where it broke off from on my Volume pot but I know it belongs there. So if anyone could help me by telling me where to saughter it down, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

        Hi. Thanks for replying to my request. I am extremely keen to purchase this white vista jagmaster. I am assuming this has a red ‘tortoise’ scratchplate and if so this is the perfect guitar for me! Unfortunately, I would not be able to pay as much for the guitar just now as I would at Christmas (2OO6). At the moment I would be able to pay approximately £150 and that is including postage (220 euros are equal to about £150, I think). At Christmas, I would be able to pay, at the very most, £250 (that is including Postage and Packaging). I would prefer not to pay that much but if I had to I would.       if you go with warmoth, it should work. i got in contact with warmoth about a replacement neck for a jagmaster… the neck you’d need to go with is the "mustang/jaguar" neck. it’s the 24" short scale neck that matches up with the guitar.

      If you want a nice student short scale guitar, check out an old Peavey T-15. They were made back in the late ’70s to mid ’80s and are quality guitars.

          Thanks, I checked out the Peavey on your links and on Harmony Central. It has a 23.5 scale. Quality "beginner" guitar that would suit women or men with with small hands. Pity Peavey would not make it again with an updated bridge or more manufacturers would not make such a guitar.

      the last reissue of the jagmaster was really crappy, but as of March ’05 the have reissued it to the original vista series specs, amber finished neck, jaguar scale neck, decent headstock etc. If you’re in the UK you can order them at your local guitar store for £199. Oh and yes, it does come in sunburst. it also comes in black with a parchment scratchplate.

      I have a jagmaster myself from the same year as the silver sparkle (2002). They are 25.5 scale so the newer pickguards probably won’t fit due to the fact that the new ones are 24" scale. What I did was traced the old pickguard and sent the tracing to Pickguardian. Try emailing or calling them first so you are sure you send the right thing.       me to, I think the jazz master pickguards are really close if not perfect but I’ve yet to find a replacement pickguard made for the jagmaster. I do know you can buy blank sheets of pickguard material pretty cheap if all else fails. Try warmoth.com, hope this has been some help. Jason

      I have a 1996 Jagmaster, black body,red tortoise pickguard that I’m considering selling. Neck is like new out of the box. Two small dings on body. Cool guitar. $400. Will be going on ebay soon possibly.

      Im from the US. And sorry i will not sell my Jagmaster. I will say that it is one of the best guitars ive ever owned. Oh it is a Japanese one, Anything else is shit. Good luck getting one, Its almost imposible to find one on e-bay. Try looking at daddys junkie music, or a place called atomic music. good luck
