  1. I have a 1979 Strat (Antigua finish). It is pretty much mint condition except for a few minor scratches on the body. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this might be worth.

    Thanks.

Dear FC: From what I’ve seen, people don’t appraise guitars or give evaluations on this forum. Don’t worry, seems like half the questions are asking "how much"?

I would however be interested in buying your Strat. Nice one!

I can be found on the internet … far too easily! Regards,

: how much can a -64 Fender Mustang be worth?

i had one appraised, depending on how much of it is original, they told me 3000 to twenty thousand dollars. if it is mint original, over 20thousand

      Lina PALFRECK

Well, I bought mine about 3 years ago and paid $ 1100 for it. It’s one of the first ones given it’s no contours (slab body). These guitars are not that sought after, I think they might go for $ 1300 max.

Check out on Gbase.com to have a better idea.

      Regards.

Reply: Your son’s 1992 Made in Mexico Strat sounds like a pretty good deal, however the features of the new ones, such as tuners have been upgraded; now they sell for $349 – 500 if in the US.

My son started on a very similar Strat. Enjoy.

      Dwight Listmayer

: where can i find infomation on my squire japanese stratocaster serial number O 031517 ? thanks

There’s hope, but this info has always been next-to-impossible to get. The source of the guitars just isn’t accessible or open to communication.

If you are as sincere as can be, a couple of ebay sellers from Tokyo Japan might be of some assistance. Names on ebay are bluzey guitars, and sixstringskatana.

Maybe, you’ll see something else you like? Japanese Strats are indeed a hot commodity!

    Duane

Can anyone recommend either Suhr or Fralin as replacements for an 2000 American? I’m looking for a fuller tone especially in the higher notes as well as versatility to play occassional jazz stuff. I don’t want to lose much in stock tone but add to the tone. Any other recommendations?

  4. Fender Stratocaster Questions for answers
    ray Judson

Can anybody answer this question for me. I have pondered on this for years and have tried to work it out myself but really would like the real answer.

How long does it take the Fender factory in USA not Japan or China to manufacture a Fender Stratocaster from start to finish, this includes cutting out the shapes, painting, making electric pickups, making all the other equipment and fitting it all together.?

Also if so many people are looking for Fender Decals wouldn’t you think Fender would sell direct to customers who own their products !!!
I cannot work that one out, even if they are making fake guitars to look like Fender. Business is business.

Also when you find a decall for a Fender why is it so costly ?

Why carn’t we make our own somehow ? any sugestions how we could make.

I am a guitarmaker and restorer who would like one, but more to the point would like to discuss the making of high quality decals as from time to time I have either needed one for a restoration or would like to create an original one for a new piece. peace, Mark

  6. Did fender make a Strat with jack on pickguard?
    Joel Mixon

Well title says it all. I am looking at a Fender USA Strat with a jack 90 degrees into pickguard. Only a novice, All other Strats Ive seen have the angled jack in body. Is this a legit Strat?

    1. Re: Did fender make a Strat with jack on pickguard?
      Dave knowles

yeah, i own a 1984 strat with a right angled jack where the second tone control should be. This is a completly legit strat, and was part of the cost cuts that fender made during the 1980’s. strat should also come with
a trem, but no backplate. The springs for the system are underneath the scratchplate. weird system. the trem sucks but hey guitar sounds good.

: I have (what I was told) a 1983 Black with a white pick guard. Only a tone and volumn control. The jack is on the pick guardand goes straigt in. the serial # is E343051. It has a trem, and no backplate. The springs for the system are underneath the scratchplate. TYhe are some scratches on the top and at the bottom rear. Any idea on value?

  16. japanese strat?
    chuck

I just purchased what I thought was a strat neck patched onto a stratcopy -type of body. The input is not in the usual Strat spot but instead is in the side of the guitar, a little up from the strap peg. The strings do not come through the back of the guitar ( this paticular one was retro-fitted for a washburn bridge that tunes the guitar from the bottom-it has a locking nut at the top of the neck) and the plate on the back where the neck joins has no Fender symbol but it simply a chrome plate. A guitar tech told me it was a Jap strat that he has only seen a few of. Told me that Fender does not even make parts for them any more. The guitar plays sweetly and I got it for under a $100.
    Anybody know anything about these??????

    1. Re: japanese strat?
      chris

i also own a jap stratthat sounds similar to yours. it is almost seafoam green in colour with a black pikguard.
like yours the iput is not on the front like most srats but on the bottom near the strap button.
mine hs wo humbuckers, a tone and volume knob and a boost switch. there was a locking nut but i accidentally broke that
and cant find a replacement. sadly, i also broke the headstock and am desperate to find a replacement neck within ypricerange worth
putting on my guitar. after a year of owning it i finnlly found out the model. i think the ne you are describing is a "contemporary"

Hey! I have also a 1968 Strat! The sound of this guitars is incredible. I think for a collector the 1956-1959 and 1960-1965 are the most intersting ones. But then there are coming the pre-cbs ones from 1965/66-1969 ! The price could be about 2000$-5000$! The best thing is you go to an expert! Best wishes, Eric!

You might try contacting Fender guitars or ask your local Music shop. There is a book called The History of the Fender Stratocastor, at least thats what I think its called, and it helped me date my 1968 Strat. This book is normally available from most musical instrument dealers. The easiest way to date a Strat is by the shape of the headstock together with the style of the "Fender Stratocaster" logo on the head itself. The book will guide you.
