I own a GJ Gould 6 string acoustic, model D300. Twenty years ago,I taught myself how to play with this guitar It has been everywhere with me. However, I know nothing about the guitar's history or company. If anyone has information about GJ Gould Guitars I would appreciate hearing from you. I love this guitar. Thanks Ray

Re: G.J. Gould 6 string

I inherited a G.J. Gould guitar that was purchased rougly 25 years ago - can't find out anything about it either -- absolutely NOTHING on the web about this company but its a great quality guitar. Very strange!

Re: G.J. Gould 6 string

I once owned a gould 12 string which eventually the top bowed from lack bracing, age and too high of tension. It was a great sounding guitar. My girlfriend at the time had another 12 string model. My sister once had a smaller student size 6 string. She wished she still had it. All these guitars were purchased from Mr. Gould himself at his home in the Detroit area. I was 16 at the time in the early seventies and don't remember where. But anyone wishing to research Gould guitars from this era might wish to contact folks familiar with the Southeastern Michigan area music scene at the time.

Re: G.J. Gould 6 string

I know its late but I bought a Gould guitar about 30 years ago in a Detroit suburb. Still have it and it sounds wonderful. A friend of mine new the maker...I think...as I bought it thru him.It sounds so much better than a $900.00 guitar I heard the other day! I believe it was a small one or two person company in a detroit suburb.

Re: G.J. Gould 6 string

I bought my G J Gould D-880 sixer in 1986 from George's Guitar Shop in Ferndale, MI (wonder whatever happened to George). It sounds sweeter now than it did when I bought it for only $350 and have many offers to buy but I could never see selling it. George said he knew the guy who made it, whether he was telling the truth or not I do not know. If he did then it was probably made locally in SE Michigan near or in Detroit. Now I am mystified!

Re: G.J. Gould 6 string

maybe but i use my uncles g j gould, he bought it in texas like 30 years ago... idk if its local to se michigan. this guitar is warn and beat up but i could never sell it. it is practically mine, ive had it for 10 years and taught myself how to play on it. it is the most beautiful sounding guitar i have ever played. ever.

I have a G.J.Gould 6 string guitar (classic, I think; it's just plain wooden. Model number D-350. This guitar was purchased at a pawn shop about 25 or 30 years ago. Does anyone know what year this guitar was made?
