: Just picked up a winston acoustic at a yard sale. It’s in really good shape, just needs some strings. Not sure how well it will play, but wondering if anyone might know the value of this guitar. Model # inside is 20/1.
I have an old Winston too and have always wondered if I should keep it or toss it out. I did some damage to it when I was a kid so it’s not in the best shape. The number inside mine is 21/2. Let me know if you find anything out about it. I’ve always been curious.
Sadly, it aint worth much, regardless of its condition. That said, I’d give you $35 for it. I have a soft spot for them as I collect guitars and my dog’s name is Winston. I have been looking for one to hang over his bed (I got about 20 guitars throughout the rest of the place). Let me know if you’d part with it.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Kasuga G-250 Classic Guitar
Al, I wonder if you’re still there, but here’s my info.
Kasuga WAS a guitar manufacturer based in Nagoya/Japan … which doesn’t exist anymore. Although it was famous for copying electric guitars like Gibson (this line was named "Ganson"), Kasuga also produced flat-tops, classical guitars, mandolins and banjos.
I own a Kasuga G-200.
I also own a Kasuga G-200, classical guitar. I have still not played any other guitar with the same warm tone. I believe tha Kasuga is worth much more as an instrument than as a collectors item. Right now I am looking for a western-guitar, and I would gladly buy a Kasuga instead of a Martin.
Assuming you are of sound mind, your reason for buying a Kasuga instead of a Martin, can only be due to lack of funds. They bear absolutely no comparison in either sound quality, standard of craftsmanship or reputation.
I know nothing about guitars. My in-laws just gave my wife a Kasuga G-250 Classic Guitar that she says she took a few lessons with when she was a kid. It is in mint condition and at least 30 years old. Can anyone educate me on this guitar or where to find information on it, if it’s a good guitar, worth anything, etc. THANKS.
Hello, i have a kasuga G-80 , i would like to know what year is it and how much does it cost now.
Tres belle guitare avec un son grave et puissant facile à jouer, ne se déforme pas malgré les année qui passent.
Hi. Just bought a G80. Anyone aware of the good and not so good aspects of this? I am just a beginner. Hope to hear from someone soon.
The “warm tone” is a description often used by some to describe the relatively dull, lifeless voice of an all-laminate constructed budget instrument. The Kasuga G-200 and G-250 classical instruments were of this ilk; they looked good and were well finished but ultimately from the low-end of the market.
This was a budget instrument made between 1972 and 1974. It looked good and was very well finished but was an all-laminated construction with appropriately mediocre sound quality.

I bought a red version with hummingbird scratchplate in the 70’s. Its brand new even though I have been playing it for 30 years. I was wondering what it was worth now. I think I paid less than 100 UK pounds at the time. Any one else got one?
I bought my Model W-65H, #80507, in 1980(?). It’s got all the wear you’d expect from a near-30-year-old instrument, that’s been played almost everyday since. Holds a tune like no other, takes all the abuse I can dish out, and still plays great. Just about all the paint’s gone from the pick guard after all these years. I have always used various Slinkys, and I installed a removable Humbucker pickup, so it’s probably not worth squat. Doesn’t matter – it’ll be cremated with me when the time comes. Everyone who’s ever played it has LOVED it. I paid $135 US in 1980. A great deal at twice the price.
ive got a 1968 suzuki hummingbird im wondering how much its worth it plays very good
Yeh, I got one recently – dirt cheap at £70 off ebay. It plays beautifully – in fcat its my favorite to play and sounds great. Very sweet Id say with light strings , perhaps a bit lacking in projection – it is a light construction after all.
All in all one of the guitar worlds unknown (?) bargains I think – id love to know more…

Me Two. Bought mine from a mate in February 1974 ( His parents bought it for him as a suprise Xmas present but he wanted an electric) Paid him £25 (all the pocket money I had). 43yrs old, I love it but the hummingbird has flown away prob sick of the same ole tunes. Would get a new one but can’t source a replacement pickguard.
I just traded a clarinet for a Kiso Suzuki hummingbird like NEW!!! heres the serial# 10843 mo:KS380 anyone got any info @ all re age, value etc. Im not really tryin to sell. Just wish I knew more about it, never even heard of a suzuki before, email me [email protected] thanx!!
Crap at maths to: 33yrs old
I have one that i’ve been playing for about five years. My mom gave it to me because she’s had it since the 70s but didn’t really play anymore. I love this guitar, it’s awesome to play although I don’t think it’s worth much money.

Yeah, I’ve got the same story. My mom had it, its about 30 years old, and sounds amazing. It’s beautiful with minor dings, but I can’t find a value for it to save my life
da………I paid U$ 750 for a Bird.
Great guitar!

Hi!
I think I had this guitar as a gift for Christmas 1970. I learned to play electric on it. It was hard to use because of bad pickups giving a feedback almost impossible to control. I would like to find informations about it. Look at this image, http://pages.videotron.com/geneau/decca.jpg is it the same? (the guy in the picture with me played on some Celine Dion record)
My father-in-law just gave me his El Degas Acoustic. The model number
is F220 and the serial number is 2-. I was wondering how much it is worth and the history behind this guitar. I had heard they were sued
by Gibson in the mid-eighties. Any info would be cool. Thanks!!!
I’ve got the same question. I got a El-Degas bass through my uncle for free and its awesome, I was just trying to date it. See if it has any worth. The serial number is 80071010, and I have no way of interpertiting that. Is it a 1980??
I’ve got an EKO acoustic that looks about 30yrs old. I don’t know anything about them. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

: I got a Vibra Electric guitar from a friend when he moved away. I don’t know much about it, and I can’t seem to find any information about it or the company that manufactured it. I was hoping somebody here could give me some information about it, and its worth. Any information would be very much appreciated. Its a black guitar, and has no serial numbers or identifying marks other than the name "VIBRA" in gold qritting on the headstock, and a sticker with the number 2999B.
I Purchased a Les Paul vibra guitar about two years ago….when I first tried it, I knew that this guitar wasn’t the real thing eventhough it felt just as heavy and looked and sounded just like it, so I din’t pay too much attention to it… I fell in love with the guitar the next time I saw it… I guess because it was in a glass stand and it looked better than the real thing….
I’ve also been trying to get imformation about the makers…the only thing that I know so far is that it’s not american made but asian…. they were made between the seventies and the eightees… I have seen only a couple of pics online…. letme know if you find more info…. till then… enjoy it!!!!!!!!! you and me, my friend, have a rare thing!!!!! so try to find the rifts and licks that make our guitar sing!

i lucked out my grandfather had a vintage vibra paul type (black with white binding) and all it needs is a tail piece and a set of strings,it’s been in the family for years now. and i finally got from him. (now i do believe that it is an asian type guitar but through gibson.
I picked up a Vibra les Paul custom copy for 20.00 and replaced the bridge, tail piece, knobs, strings and machine heads. That, what(?), 65.00 investment, has become my favorite axe. The sustain is unbelievable…I’m used to strats so playing has meant adjusting to the weight, etc..But MAN! Plays as good as the real thing….And looks stunning in black and silver…I heard that Vibra used to be Anderson Guitars in Tenessee (a company started by Chet Atkins)..Now Vibra is HQ’d in Canada, focusing mostly on Acoustics and stopped making these in the 60’s…But I read that online and you never really know what to believe w/o x-reference…Anyway, for those that have them, Enjoy! For those that don’t, Envy! And for those about to rock….

Can’t believe how hard it is to find info on this company – Had a Vibra Bass back in the 80’s and loved it! Wish that I still had it, trying to find another like it. It seems that weight seems to be the consistent comment, it was heavy! But the sound and tones unlike anything that I have had since.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Re: Kiso-Suzuki classical guitar Model 9502
It was only £55 new, back in the early 80’s !
They were retailing for around £85 in the late 1970’s
: I bought a really tatty one of these for £3 at a car-boot sale last summer – I have just stuck some decent machines and some D’addarios on it and it sounds pretty good – I only did it because my Godin Multiac nylon has been demolished in a car crash and I needed something to cover a couple of gigs and rehearsals.I guess it would have been about £200- £250 new at that time as it has a solid top and is nicely made, although mine is in a real bad cosmetic way – in good condition I reckon it would still be worth about the same as when new.
Does anyone know where i can get a new set of tuning pegs for this guitar(Suzuki-Hand Made-Classical and its Number is SC-50. They look like they are made from (Mother of pearl) and they have a tiny screw that goes through them to connect them.

OK i have this guitar purchased about 30 years ago and it says it is an El Degas Model No. C 100. does any one know if it is of any worth?
El Degas classical, acoustic and electric guitars were produced from the late 1960s to the early 1980s for Buegeleisen & Jacobson, a distributor of musical instruments based in New York City. Early models, which are the most desirable, were made in Japan. They are characterized by quality materials and excellent workmanship. Interestingly, the exact manufacturers are not known. At the time, several Japanese manufacturers produced badged guitars for sale in foreign markets. It was not unusual for multiple badges to be produced by the same manufacturer. Based on similarities in design and construction, people have speculated that El Degas guitars were made by the likes of Fujigen, Hoshino, Matsumoku, and Terada. While this is entirely possible, we just don’t know for certain.
Some time in the 1970s, Buegeleisen & Jacobson was sold to Kaman Music. Around the same time, production of El Degas guitars moved from Japan to other countries, including Korea and Romania. Though this period produced some quality instruments, it’s fair to say that some of the brand’s consistency was lost with the change in manufacturing. As a result, later period El Degas guitars are less widely sought after than their earlier counterparts. El Degas guitars that were produced in the later period bear the name of the country of manufacture on their labels. For example, a Korean produced guitar will say “Made in Korea” on its label. When there is no country of manufacture printed on the label, it’s an indication that the guitar is from the earlier period and was made in Japan.

It’s way louder than almost any all other acoustic i’ve played. Sounds fantastic. . . and got it for free from a friend that moved out of town.
If that’s the numbers at the base of the neck inside then I have believe that’s not the serial number but is the date of manufacture.
So that would be December 10 1975
: Has anybody got any info on this model? I have had it for 25 years and wouldn’t swap it. It has such a beautiful rich tone to it that improves each year.
Yes I have one I bought it new in 1983. I put a "Shadow" bridge pick up on it and a pre amp.
The guitar has done many shows & has been used in
the recording studio also.I paid $385 Australian back then, but it has been the best value instrument I have ever bought.
Regards, Bassman.
I got one, bought in the PX in Heilbronn Germany in 1978. It is on its third bridge and third fret job. The bridge is cracked badly parallel to the bridgepin holes. The bridgepins will no longer fit in the bridgepin holes cause the holes are completely rutted out so I put nails in the string eyelets and then slide washers down the strings to hold the strings in place from under the bridge. The guy I brought it to to put new tuners on it, Walter at Musical Exchange here in Austin, put the new tuners in without pre-drilling in the holes and cracked the headstock on both sides almost immediately on installation. The neck is cracked but re-glued at the butt of the neck where it meets the body. But despite all these battle scars, the fininsh looks nice and the guitar sounds and plays great. I still love it and usually keep it in open g tuning to reduce the stress. I also keep nylon coated strings on it cause I do not play it so often cause it is in open tunings. I have a fishman undersaddle pickup/preamp system in it. I learned how to play on this guitar and it has great sentimental value to me but even though I know it is not worth that much money I would still want a lot more than it is worth before I would consider selling it even in its battered condition.
Got my GR 20 fixed, new rosewood bridge, head stock cracks glued. The guitar sounds just OK, good but not great. I have had other guitars, Martins and Taylors and those dreads mostly sound better. I use my Suzi for open tuning, mostly in G, and use better guitars for regular tunings.

It is a Gallagher copy. Not a martin copy. Look at the swirled headstock. That is your clue.
This is an amazing sounding acoustic guitar I bought it from a friend who was selling some pieces of his guitars collection I just fell in love with this one when I played it and I paid my friend the 600 English pounds that he wanted for it.
It is one of the most comfortable and sweet sounding acoustic guitar I’ve played.
The sound is so well balanced and it has a beatiful range of high-mid frequencies and a lovely overall tone that you would never get tired of it.
These guitars were made is Japan in the 70s when Suzuki were a violin company.
They were inspired by Martin d-28 which were popular at the time.
They are spruce solid top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides with a very well done separation in the middle.
Slim neck make them awesome to play.
I got mine from a guy who said it was rubbish, he couldn’t tune it or it wouldn’t stay in tune.
When I bought it I replaced the 5+ year old strings and it plays flawlessly.
I would consider it better than a lot of high prices guitars and they are now quite sought after.
If you have one of these guitars, congratulations on acquiring one if the most under rated and best build guitars ever made.
Still no reply, I guess I’ve gotta find another site.
Come on people, is this site strickly for people who know nothing about their guitar and thats it? Does any body with any type of knowledge read at this site? I’m sorry, I just thought that I could get some valuable information on my equipment. I guess I was wrong. I will however still look at this site periodically due to the fact that I am able to help others. Come on people, if you know something, help someone out and do not be so concerned with your own. Help a guitar playing brother(sister) out.
I have a mint 1984 Guild Bladerunner prototype. Can anyone help me with its value so I can have it insured. Thanks in advance.
Any guild is worth something and should always be insured. I recommend insuring it for at least 2000.00 dollars. Especially if it was made in ’84’. Guild has only recently started to made again by Fender Guitars by the way. I’s say in the last 2 to possibly three years.

This popular thread has been given its own page : 1964 Framus Television(solid Body)
I don’t know if I have a Framus Television or not. I got mine in Houston 9 years ago for $450. One button doesn’t work even with the INXS guitar wizard down under working on it….what with German made and pre WWII Italian electrics, but it’s sweeeeeeet. It was the German go at competing with the Fender Jaguar. Yours sounds beautiful. Mine is a sunburst with again, a mad stripy pickguard which my guitar man sad is drum kit material. You may already know these details re a Framus but if not I thought I would share.
Just cruisin’ thru some old bookmarks and saw your messages — I’ll be glad to give you what little info that I could find… the Blue Book of Electric Guitars is no help! No price given.
But, the Vintage Guitar Price guide (’04 edition) lists a Framus Golden Television, semi-hollow body, 3-pickup, gold hardware (ca. ’67-’70) as having a value of $500 – $700, depending on condition. hth dk

I have a 1964 Framus Television in almost perfect condition, can somebody please help me on the value here? Has a lot of switches, three pick-ups,mute like bridge,brownish-gold zebra-like stripe pickgaurd, and two smaller brass pick gaurds. Is made out of birds-eye maple. Please help me out with a close guesstimate, thanks.

This popular thread has been given its own page : old cordova guitar
I also have a Cordova which is very old and in excellent condition. I also have the model and serial #s. I can’t find anything about this guitar and would also like find out what kind of wood it’s made of, and the makers name. If anyone has any info please contact me.
The “Cordova” labeled guitar was a classical guitar, made by the famous German luthier Oscar Teller. He built guitars under his own name, but also used “Tellson”. The idea was that a classical guitar might sell better internationally wit a Spanish name instead of “Teller”.
: I have an old Cordova guitar that was made in West Germany about 40 years ago. It has a model number and serial number inside. Does anyone know if it has any value?
Yes they have about the same value as a similar Goya model. They were high quality guitars that were made in west germany in the Hauser style. Not very common.
Hello!
I realize this is an old post but I am checking in to see if you possibly still have that Cordova guitar?
My father bought one when he was a teenager. Over the years the guitar was destroyed. I am on a quest to replace my father’s childhood guitar. Any help or wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
Warm wishes,

i have a old cordoba acustic guitar. are you still looking to get one for your dad?
I just happen to have an early 60’s model. I just restrung it to play after having to take my “regular” guitar in for service. It’s in good shape except for where where a pick guard should have been. Many years of playing have worn away some of the finish. Can furnish pictures.
Will sell.

I stumbled across this thread today doing a search for Cordova Guitars. I bought one (a jumbo 12 string) in the late 60’s and it is a beautiful instrument. The one thing that sold me on it was that it has such a thin neck (especially for a 12 string) but it is steel reinforced so it has never bowed ov all this time. I developed a crack in the sound board where the to wood was joined from the bridge to the end of the sound board. This is easily fixed, but since I live in a low humidity area I could see it happening again if I didn’t control the humidity.
It is a Model 41025 and the Serial No is 87. (Yeah you red it correctly, 87). I paid about $300 for it in lat 60’s so best estimate would be 1500-2500 today. I think I’m going to give it to Leo Kottke.

I also have had a Cordova guitar since the 70`s and I place a high value on it because it still sounds great and has stood up well over the years. The person I purchased it from said it had travelled around Europe in the 50`s with Gypsies. But I am also curious as to a "market value" if anyone knows about this brand, it would be interesting to learn more about it. My model no. looks like WCOA21 and it has a hand written serial no in it as well.

I have an old Cordova guitar too, Model WS-080, a somewhat non-standard classical guitar that I bought in the mid-1960s. I’d be interested in any information that turns up about it, particularly historical information. The instrument is a bit heavier than most classical guitar and the neck a bit thinner narrower.
I just picked one up at an estate sale for $50. Model is WC-010.
What is the condition of the Cordova guitar you bought at the estate sale? Would you be interested in selling it?

I have a Cordova Guitar I’d bought from a little shop awhile back, and I was wondering if anyone had some info on it. The model number is WC 010, and the serial number is 64147. It was produced in West Germany.
I don’t know much about guitars, so I had originally assumed it might have been a regional spelling for Cordoba, but I am not too sure.
I bought mine new in the mid 60’s in Memphis, TN while attached to Naval Air Station Memphis in Millington, TN. Model No. NC022, SN: 65234. I think the first 2 digits of the serial number is the year manufactured.
found a old classical cordova guitar model WC-014 serial 63188 german made ,, any info would be great
I have an old Cordova classical guitar ‘Made in West Germany’ as well. It is ‘MODEL No. WC012′ and SERIAL No. 34352’ and was purchased at McCabe’s Music in Long Beach, CA, in the early 1960’s by mom’s best friend and roommate at the time. I am the second owner after inheriting it. It plays and sounds absolutely beautiful. I have owned $3K Taylors and similar valued Gibsons and I know it’s almost apples to oranges there (dreadnaught vs. classical), but I prefer singing with this Cordova. It very well could be the 50+ years of age it has, I don’t know. It’s like there is a 3 part harmony backing group of beautifully voiced women singing with me at times…lol. Sounds crazy perhaps, but I recorded a song on which that effect was more prevalent, and the 3 female vocals were still kind of there and ghost-like when I listened. The song linked below does not have that effect, fyi, but the guitar still has tone that I love.
Anyway, if anyone is interested, I am needing to part with this truly fine instrument which obviously has a lot of soul within. I need to money more than this great guitar, unfortunately. I will sell, and will provide pictures, answer questions, and can provide sound bites of it. I play folk-singer-songwriter stuff, in my own untrained style, so I can’t provide any classical sounds from it. If you want to hear it, check this out, just don’t tell Mr. Nobel Prize Bob D I covered one of his songs I hold dear 😉 –> recorded on a cell phone, not bad for an itty bitty mic and no production or mixing or whatever gets done to recordings –> https://soundcloud.com/steve-bowser-817371422/ishallbereleased-20161021-085239

I have a Cordova Made in Germany it is a beauty. tiger or ribbon maple sides cedar top near mint condition. My plans are to list it on Ebay. thoughts anyone? ps try not to call me a Stupid Bitch. yes Made in Germany
The Cordova were made in west germany Willy Cordova = the WC in the model number and they were hand made.the part = number made. like mine is a clasical guitar WC 014 would be the 14th one he made the serial number first 2 numbers the year it was made. mine is 63299 year date month so nov./29/63 as for the money there worth depends on who is collecting they sold for around 250 to 300 new in the 60s so best gess in mint condish you might get 1000 to 1500 today or 300 to 500 for one in used condish.

I have a old Cordova guitar – Model # WL012 Serial # 6436 (?)

Hey i have an old Cordova guitar that my dad bought for me in the mid 70’s. Made in West Germany. The model number is 41015 Serial #117. It has mother -of -pearl inlays. Can anyone tall me anything about this flat top?
I also have a cordova. My father inlaw bought it 40 to 50 yrs ago. I have the model # WCO26 Serial #63360 etc. The guitar is in excellent condition. Don’t know what it’s worth if anyone knows.
I read your comments about the Cordova guitar. The one you have was most likely made in the 1960’s and is probably laminated top, back and sides. These guitars are made well, but were not an expensive guitar. Price today would be about what it cost new, around a few hundred dollars.
Any info on a Alvarez CG-100 acoustic would be greatly welcomed.
I have picked up an EKO Acoustical Guitar today. It was purchased in Italy in 1977 and is in excellent condition. It’s model is Ranger 6. I have looked on the internet but find very little information. Most everything is electric. I would appreciate learning as much as I can about this instrument. Thanks!

Hi,
Just to confuse the issue.I have a Clarissa by C.L.Strumenti musicali. colore 6. G-300.
This guitar is a copy of an ovation electro acoustic with a centre sound hole.. Sounds pretty good and the action is fine.I have tried for years to trace the company on the internet without any luck.
If any one can add to this please let me know.
By the way I am located in UK.
Regards,
Richard.
Hi Richard
Try Polverini Brothers. Does it have CL on the headstock?
Cheers

I have limited knowledge on guitars. I have a guitar which reads "Clarissa BY C.L. Strumenti Musicali" there is a modle number, it is G-52L. I purchaced the guitar in Germany while on posting there. It has traveled with me to many different locations. However on my last move it received some dammage. I have been asked to get a quote, howver have been unsuccessfull. I dont want to depreciate the guitar by re-finishing it. Does any one have an idea ref this old guitar?
i found that on the web
I bought a Clarissa tobacco sunburst round back guitar in 1987, brand new from a guitar show in Derby. I cannot remember who the retailer was or where in Derby the show was held. I do remember paying £ 229.00 for it and that included a hard case. The label inside is an orange oval, with stylised musical notes and treble clefs on a stave, the wording just says CLARISSA in the centre, in bold type then N.2 in normal type under the last A in Clarrisa then Mod– GA 100 under that. no other info at all. It has an under bridge pietzo pickup, no pre-amp but still with stacked volume and tone controlls, the volume being the larger bottom knob. All work fine, feeds back a bit but it must be one of the first under bridge pick-ups. The action is fine, the neck perfect, I use 12 light’s on it which work well, giving a smooth rounded mellow tone. The top is solid spruce, ( I have had the torches and mirrors inside, to check grain patterns inside and out and they match ), the back is leather effect plastic, smooth inside and the only bracing is to the top, and that is not of the usual guitar pattern.
Like every one else I cannot find information regarding Clarissa guitars so we must keep trying

I have on in mint condition. The guitar is made of 1970’s rosewood with a spruce top I believe. The 1970’s rosewood produced a great sound in an affordable acoustic. You can have yours appraised online by gruhn vintage guitars, Nashville. Send them a fron & back picture and description of modifications and condition of instrument. I have seen one today for sale on e-bay. Sale price $450.00 or buy now for $550.00.

There is not a whole lot of information about these guitars out there. I think I had the same guitar you are speaking of. Mine was wine red with gold hardware, it was a copy of a Les Paul Deluxe. From what I understand, and it could be hearsay, these guitars were made by Aria in Japan. They were made out of decent materials, but the main objection about them was that they had a bolt-on neck. Les Pauls are supposed to have a set-neck. Because the neck was bolted on; people assumed that they were cheap and bought the Tokai Love Rocks instead. The Granada is very similar to the El Degas. Though I am not sure who made the El Degas.
I also have a wine-red Granada hollowbody guitar. Bolt-on neck, gibson es335 t copy. The person who sold it to me, told me it was from 1979. It sounds very good, and plays very nice. It’s made in Japan, but I’d like to know more about it.

The company was forced to close in thee early 80’s due to infrindgements on Gibson design. Whenever I take mine in for service, the guys love it and handle it with the greatest of respect. If you have the same guitar, it weights maybe 2 lbs. This is a BLUES Guitar. You can beat it, bend it, heck, you can even sleep with it if inclined to (nice curves)… Value.. I’ll give you 50.00 USD Right now. I could sell it easily for a grand to a guitar lover (maybe more). No! I don’t sleep with mine as it never trims its strings.
