I have a Jagard Mark 31LV acoustic guitar- in orange/black sunburst. The fretboard has green and red dot lights (powered by a 9 volt battery) that randomly flash when the switch is turned on. Like you, I can’t find anything on the internet about this particular model. I purchased it at a music store that was going out of business in Aurora, Ontario Canada (just north of Toronto, ON) in 1974. Have you been able to get any info from anyone?
I have one of those too… beautiful sounding guitar all rosewood body and neck spruce top very accurate tuners. Bought it from a chick who’s boyfriend went to jail for 20 bucks… had a receipt in the case from 1982 from a music store in Ontario Canada and it was bought for close to 400 bucks…. think it was $389 or close to it… you are the only person other than me that I have found to have one… it was made by takamine I do know that.. it’s basically an unknown gem made from the finest materials a guitar can be made of but nobody has heard of the name so the value is ?¿? I’m gonna hold on to mine and play the hell out of it… it sounds awesome… the neck has alternating green and red LED lights 2 per fret on each side of the neck that run up one side and down the other with the speed being controlled by a twist knob on the body.. very awesome job getting the LEDs flush with the neck not to mention the wiring it took to build it… I have alot of musician friends and none of them have seen anything like it…. that’s what I know about it anyways… hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine… rock on brother rock on…
Your Jagard sounds identical to mine! Are we the only two people in the country with this guitar? Most of my musician frineds have never even heard of Jagard. I found another one on a website – coolguitars.ca Kingston Guitar Shop. They refer to the model as “Light Show”. It is in a wine colour. Other than the colour it looks identical to ours. The price is $999 Canadian. Well that is cool! I bought my Jagard in 1974 for $99. That was a small fortune to me back then. I tried to find out more about the Jagard brand. I read somewhere that it was made by Taradega and was a poor man’s Martin spinoff. Now you’ve given me some more info to check on. Thanks…..Jan

hello… i hove a jim harley bass for about six months.. it is a passive bass… it has a rahter good outpu… but i can’t find info about it anywhere… if anybody has got something like a site or anything.. please let me know…
Good Luck with it. I’ve got a great looking white Jim Harley Les Paul copy. Plays and sounds excellent but I havent been able to find any info on Jim Harley.
Hi
Ive got a Jim Harley Les Paul too. With Les Paul Pickups.
How Loud? Ive only managed to find out that they make 500 of each replica, and they are supposed to be one of the best copies around.
Jim Harley les pauls are very hard to come by. They have a unique sound that rivals the Gibson and there construction is amazing. They have great sustain and are some what collectable because of the very low production numbers . I bought one about 5 years ago for 400.00 and fell in love with the clean tones. There is a very nice one here in a local music store but its priced a little high for its condition at 795.00. Maybee a 450.00 guitar at best I have seen nice ones sell for that and beyond but the one he has is pretty rough

: I have been given a Marina Mark 30 M and cannot find any info about it (value, age etc) and would be very grateful if someone could sggest anything.
A friend of mine has a marina mark 32b and It’s the best sounding guitar I’ve ever played. The only light I can shed about it is it’s made by Martin(according to the shop he bought it from)
I have 3 electric guitars 2 strats (academy and marina) and the one i dont know the model. The marina was bought by my mom from his office mate who badly needs money at that time. It’s with me for 8yrs already. But i think its more than 10 yrs old if ill count the years when the first owner had it. I custom made it, change most of the parts and the color of the body. The only left original to it is the neck, head and the body. it’s quite heavy though but the sounds is still good. I customized most of its parts, the volume controls, the color of the body, the pick guard and machine head. When it was sold to us the machine head was still in good condition but later on one by one the tuning heads went off. since its a vintage guitar, you cannot find some of its parts anywhere. i had to ask the store where i bought the machine head to make another hole to fit the machine head that i purchased. im only lacking one part which is the retainer, when i already have it, its already good to go again.im already excited to play it again. wish i can show you the photos here 🙂
I have an old Ovation 12 string guitar thathas a serial number that starts with two or three "zero’s". Some minor lacquer cracks. Still sounds like a million bucks…also has a hardshell case, purple insides. Any idea as to value.
I bought a Lp Photogenic guitar…. Ive been looking for les paul copies here in Philippines.. Tested all les paul copies… Adi, gaban,,,etc…. so far… The Closest Tone for a Gibson Les paul…. i recommend it for those who are looking for alternatives….
It does have a unique sound for a copy model, but not quite as good. I have a pre-lawsuit ibanez les paul and it is about the closest guitar ive ever played. I put Seymour Duncan Pick-ups in the Photogenic and it gave it a way better sound.
I bought a Photogenic Les Paul LP250. I paid about 12000 yen for it, which is about $100. I have no illusions about what Ive bought, but this is far from my first guitar. Still, Ive never learned to play at all. I may alter this guitar, but it is my intention not to buy something else, until I demonstrate some ability on this thing.
I bought the Honey Burst finish. It comes in about 7 colors. The HB finish isnt quite as Honey as I would have liked. Its kind of yellow with an orange-like edge for the "burst" part. Further, the plastic moulding for the pickguard, pickup mouldings, and selector switch… instead of white or ivory, theyre a light pinkish color. Ive removed the pickguard, but they horked in one of the screws which cracked the finish of the top. I found the tiny piece of cracked finish and glued it back. Still, I think about filling in the holes with wood putty and painting it over to match.
As far as the pink pickup moulding, I thought I could find moulding that wasnt pink and replace it, but Ive had no luck. So, I will paint over the plastic. Itll take a little surgery, but this is far from the first time Ive taken guitars apart.
I bought this online and the pictures were not clear enough to show the true colors of the guitar. If they had been, I would have passed on it, and just gotten gold or black.
Still, for all my complaints its a $100 guitar. Ill teach myself to play it (once and for all) then Ill pitch it out a window perhaps and buy a better guitar.
I know you can get these in Japan which is where I am. I dont know if they can be bought elsewhere.
The sound is routed through a Zoom G2 digital effects box. This creates good tone (digital modeling of overdrive and clean, a great fave is the digital model of a Roland Jazz Chorus amp. One Ive loved for years but will likely never spend the big cash to buy… but since Im only doing scales and one-note-love-songs, Im not really qualified to judge what "good tone" is. Whats more, Im routing that through a 15W Laney amu0010
p. Still more is that since my neighbors live so close, I route practice sessions through headphones (When I plug in at all)
Its been awhile and Ive since bought an actual Gibson Les Paul. After having owned the Photogenic LP250 for awhile (and having shopped a bunch of actual Les Pauls) Ive come to appreciate the quality of this thing which is far better than a $100 guitar ought to be. Its not a USA made Gibson Les Paul… but compared to other LPs made elsewhere… it stacks up pretty well.
Guess I wont be "pitching it out a window". Might have to step up my recommendation for it.
I also own a copy of a Les Paul Custom from the brand Burny(under Fernandes). According to some sources, i was told that they were made in Korea and China. There are more expensive ones made in Japan. These copies have the same open book headstock that was the reason for the "lawsuit".
Too bad most of the details can only be found in Japanese as they do not have an English website. Your copy could be from the same factory, which means that its made up of two ply 15mm Mahogoney and 45mm Mahogoney. The Japs ones are sigle Ply 60mm Mahogoney.

Photogenic Guitars are either Korean Made that is exported to Japan and China Made…If you have the Photogenic Logo with the cross logo thats Korean, the other logo which has the font look like a bologna shape letters thats China made…others say there is an India Made Version that am looking on… The Guitar I was able to trade came from japan and it really sounds great
Hey Scott, I’ve got the same Bass and Paid $40 for my mine from a neighbor that was moving.I would like to know if you found out anything. I have been playing this thing for 4 years and never have to tune it. Had the switches fixed once. The guy told me that Radio Shack had bought a lot of parts back in the 70’s and mfg these Bass’s. I llke playing this old thing cause it sounds good and I don’t have to mother it.I have firends that have an extensive collection of basses and this thing still gets the looks and the sound is there…
Take care and have a Great Thanksgiving! Good bless ! Mark

: Hi,
: Can anyone tell me if it is possible to refret an Ovation Matrix?
: Thanks, Chris
Yeah, if you can get the part…the whole fretboard with frets inclusive is a one piece affair. I did it once when I owned such a guitar and it bought me a few more years. Those aluminum frets wear quickly. Good luck.
Hi there I am looking for one of these of any year with the martin rip-off headstock in any condition at any reasonable price. Takamine F-389 12 string acoustic. I gotta have me one of these!
: how much you want to pay? i got one and i can beat her up for you, for the right price that is
: : i want a gibson les paul tht is really beat up but still plays
I can sell you one that is really beat up. I originally bought it for $1800, but it has a lot of scratches on the back side and it has about a 3 x 1 inch chip of the neck towards the 4th fret. Plays like the most amazing Les Paul I’ve ever heard. I’ll sell it for $1200. Email me if you want pics.
: This guitar is flying-v, peavey mantis. It has a wood grain neck, and is in all around excellant shape. Early 80’s era. It is missing the electronics cover on the back of the guitar. But works and sounds great. please email if interested w/ offer
I have been looking for a good starting guitar for quite a while now, and i was wandering which guitar would be good, i have a budget of around £200 and i have been looking at the Tom Delonge strat as im into punk music, also squier strats, other strat copys, yamaha pacifica’s and low end Ibanez. I am just starting out on guitar, i have played bass for a while and i will be in a punk/rock band so what do you think would be the best choice for me to play. I have pretty basic skills on guitar already after playing bass and acoustic but this will be the guitar i use mainly etc so enough of me talking what do you think is the best guitar i can get out there for about £200 which is about $350US. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🙂
:i have a jim harley bass too its like a fender p bass look alike. i have been playing it for 2 years it sounds great to me. I have found no other searches on the internet about it. I think it could be a department store bass such as sears or something.
hey i just bought a jim harley electric guitar for £94 and its had alot of use, it has a brand new neck on it, and the place i got it from says i got it at a good price but they cant rase the price coz of the new neck, however he said brand new they are about £400 – £800 so i guess they havta be good at that kinda price, and my pesonel opinion i think the have class 🙂
Hello
I got one of these given by a friend when I told him I wanted to learn bass.
It’s virtually brand new though I note it has a spelling error; it says ‘Jim Harley, Spirit of Succes.’ I added another ‘S’ with a biro and it looks better.
I’m still a clueless floundering beginner but I’ll get some lessons one day! The guy who gave me it has since disappeared, but another mate is a real bass player and a teacher as well.
For what it’s worth coming from me- I think it’s great. It seems solid and well made and it looks fantastic.
My second guitar was a Jim Harley Les paul copy, and the treble pickup wasn’t working (I suspect the problem was wiring-related). It cost me €79 and I sold it to a friend for €105. I miss that thing so goddamn much…
Last year I bought another Jim Harley for €69, this time a wood finish super strat with black-capped pickups and individual selector switches. It’s good, but not the same…
I’ve got a Jim Harley guitar. It plays ok but is nothing fantastic. Its very much like an 80s ibanez. Even got the Floyd Rose bridge thingy… Sorry i’m a Les Paul man. I’ve seen a few Harleys on ebay, they seem to go for very little money.
yow.i’m from belgium and i’ve bought a jim harley bass from a friend of mine and since then i have been searching for information about the guitar or the company… but i couldn’t find anything about this brand or it’s guitars… i find it verry strange. if anybody know’s something about this company please e-mail me cause this is the only site i have found that even mentions it. anyway i think it’s a good bass. it is a passive bass so dont mistake it for in active bass… it has a good output and it plays rather well. i like it and i think i’ll stick with it for a while… i can easily play metal, punk, bleus, jazz, ska with it withou the sound beeing wierd and all. it’s multifuncional. mail me with info if you got some please. bye
I am from Belgium as well. I’ve been slowly tidying up my fathers’ stuff and i found this bass in a case. Looks like it has never been played. I don’t play so I am selling it. The one we build together, I’ll keep.
have jim harley guitar disapeared of the face of the earth? i can’t find any websites but here that even mention them. does anyone know anything about them?

Also have a guitar autographed by TED NUGENT(The next govener of Michigan) for sale for $500 (its a hunk of junk but the nuge don;t sign to many guitars] so get it while you can and hang it by your bar for a conversation piece. Ted autographed this one for me at a Michigan big game hunters convention.

How come there are Gibson Les Pauls, Ephiphone Les Pauls and the the one I am looking at buying is a Gibson Epiphone Les Paul? is this a good guitar? how does it sound? play
I can find Ephiphone Les Paul guitars and Gibson Les Pauls on the internet but I am looking at a Les Paul that has both the Gibson and Ephiphone name on it. What’s the deal with this, which is it and how do they play/sound?
:my freinf came yesterday and wanted to sell me his jim harley guitar for his half price as it is second hand
(original price 320$ so he will sell it for 180$)
is this price good???
i think it is well worth the money. Jim harley electric guitars are reasonably rare and are finished to a good quality. I have just bought a Jim Harley guitar. It is a copy of a peavey wolfgang finised in a red flame wood dye. It is relativly old and i think it is older than the wolfgang itself. It is an awsome piece of machinery. Plays like a music man if not better.

Joe

how much ya wanna spend? I got one that I had a sh*tload of work done on it in spring 2003. All new hardware, all new wiring, all new electronics. the only original things are the body & neck. EMG pickups. Black w/ white pickguard, 1987-1988 model Japanese. The guitar cost me $500 canadian and all the work cost me $1700 canadian plus a brand new molded hardshell case which was $200 canadian. Make me a decent offer and she’s yours. She’s practically brand new guitar and you won’t find a stock model anywhere like her, and you won’t get one custom made like this one!

Jim Harley guitars are Korean made. Pretty reasonable quality for the budget end of the market. I bought my son a Telecaster copy which is better than a Suire.

I have had a peavey mantis since 1996 and I bought it for 80 bucks at a small guitar shop. I dont know much about them only that you could get it with a fixed bridge or a schaller bridge and they had a 12 post humbucker mine had a emg 81 select added before i bought it and disasembled it this week to paint it and it was painted orange by previous owner but had black coat and primer under that appered to be factory i painted it a blue purple flip flop color I will post a picture on line somewher soon so mantis players can see it.

: Well, since a short while I am the owner of a Peavey Mantis also. Actually I didn’t buy this guitar to play it. But just because it looks really ‘nostalgic’. By my opinion it is a nice item and maybe even ‘cult’ or a ‘collectible’ you can purchase at a low price on 2hand markets.
: It’s a shame there isn’t more information and data available from these Peavymodels. The only info I found was on some Peavey-related sites. Of course at http://www.peavey.com there is a manual available. But nothing about dates of manufacturing or serial numbers.
: It’s a guitar from the 80’s… that’s for sure. And I suspect from 1984 – 1985. But I’d still be very gratefull for any more information.
: Thanx !
Hey bro, i have A mantis lt. They were made from 1985-1989 look at ur serial number and match the series number to wikipedia’s peavey page. Peavey as a company "lost" the files to this guitar.

I have aquired an accoustic guitar called MARINA MARK 33 Iwould like info on it ,ie, date. value.origin. grateful for any info. FRED SEAL, LANCASHIRE. UK.
Marina guitars are made by a Taiwanese company. As to the value, I would not know, since the price range of Marinas vary according to model. On a personal note, I am the owner of a Marina "Debra" Mark-6001. Mine was purchased in Taiwan and is about the equivalent of $212 (USD). It is a very good sounding guitar for the price.
:
: Marina guitars are made by a Chzech company already sincs the ’50 George Harrison ownd one when He played in Hamburg at the Star Club with the Beatles.
Maybe so, but there is/was a company in asia who made guitars by the name of Marina too. look at this picture from my gitaar: http://www.xs4all.nl/~jellyshk/pics/marina.jpg
the company is called chuan yin musical instruments.
I hope this post will clarify the dispute, so let’s take it one at the time, when we refer to Marina guitars we understand the brand Marina(with the models MS-7,FL-1, FL-2, Elvis, Concorde and so on)all of them have the Marina logo on the headstock, and were made by the taiwanese company Chuan Yin musical instruments. The Czechoslovakian Marina is not a brand, but a model betwen manny others(Tornado, Rubin, Diskant, Diamant, Star, and so on) made by the Czechoslovakian Jolana company. As far I know George Harrison owned a Jolana guitar, not the Jolana-Marina model, but the Jolana-Futurama/Grazioso or Resonet/Grazioso.

: Marina guitars are made by a Taiwanese company. As to the value, I would not know, since the price range of Marinas vary according to model. On a personal note, I am the owner of a Marina "Debra" Mark-6001. Mine was purchased in Taiwan and is about the equivalent of $212 (USD). It is a very good sounding guitar for the price.
Marina guitars are made by a Chzech company already sincs the ’50 George Harrison ownd one when He played in Hamburg at the Star Club with the Beatles.
Usually the 1st and 5th numbers of the serial number, is the date. i.e. 1st letter 8 and the 5th letter 7, means its a 1987. Thats what mine is, the Gibson website will tell you.
I have had this guitar for some years, I was wondering if you could shed any information on this guitar, how old? how much etc, hope you can help thank you.
Hey I have bought an old " Zenta guitars "60 I think" ( Korean )…
And I am hope that some one could help me to ID the guitar.
Do any one have a link to any picture gallery of old Zenta guitars..
I you have I would love you… need to know what the model name is and its orgin, year etc. etc..
Pleas help me out… If not, well thank you for your time.

Hi guys, does anybody know about this brand? I got a Jagard Mark 32b. I can’t find anything on internet
thanx

The only light I can shed about it is it’s made by Martin(according to the shop he bought it from)
It’s not made by Martin. It was a beautiful product made in Taiwan around 1990. The manufacture now use a differient, Farida guitar.
im looking for the same info, i had this guitar since im 10 years old and its still in mint shape and sounds very good comparable to a gibson.

Billy Joe from Greenday uses a range of Gibsons but theyre really expensive. Its probebly best goin 2 a music store and tryin a few guitars.
Whatever you want. The guitar doesnt play itself.

No its quite as good. But ya putting in new pickups is great. I would kill for one of those ibanez les paul models tho
(Originally posted 08:22:53 5/25/07)
What’s the brand of the copy?
I also own a copy of a Les Paul Custom from the brand Burny(under Fernandes). According to some sources, i was told that they were made in Korea and China. There are more expensive ones made in Japan. These copies have the same open book headstock that was the reason for the "lawsuit".
Too bad most of the details can only be found in Japanese as they do not have an English website. Your copy could be from the same factory, which means that its made up of two ply 15mm Mahogoney and 45mm Mahogoney. The Japs ones are sigle Ply 60mm Mahogoney.

Yeah, if you can get the part…the whole fretboard with frets inclusive is a one piece affair. I did it once when I owned such a guitar and it bought me a few more years. Those aluminum frets wear quickly. Good luck.

Hi,
I have been looking for a good starting guitar for quite a while now, and i was wandering which guitar would be good, i have a budget of around £200 and i have been looking at the Tom Delonge strat as im into punk music, also squier strats, other strat copys, yamaha pacifica’s and low end Ibanez.

I would like to know more about the company also.
yow.i’m from belgium and i’ve bought a jim harley bass from a friend of mine and since then i have been searching for information about the guitar or the company… but i couldn’t find anything about this brand or it’s guitars… i find it verry strange. if anybody know’s something about this company please e-mail me cause this is the only site i have found that even mentions it. anyway i think it’s a good bass. it is a passive bass so dont mistake it for in active bass… it has a good output and it plays rather well. i like it and i think i’ll stick with it for a while… i can easily play metal, punk, bleus, jazz, ska with it withou the sound beeing wierd and all. it’s multifuncional. mail me with info if you got some please. bye

Plays like a music man if not better.
regards
Joe

how much ya wanna spend?

Peavey as a company "lost" the files to this guitar.

do you have any pictures of that d25?
I have aquired an accoustic guitar called MARINA MARK 33 Iwould like info on it ,ie, date. value.origin. grateful for any info. FRED SEAL, LANCASHIRE. UK.
Marina guitars are made by a Taiwanese company. As to the value, I would not know, since the price range of Marinas vary according to model. On a personal note, I am the owner of a Marina "Debra" Mark-6001. Mine was purchased in Taiwan and is about the equivalent of $212 (USD). It is a very good sounding guitar for the price.

Mars Music, Milwaukee Wisconsin. Just bought mine for 250. Brand new.
Trying to find a web site that can tell me when my Les Paul was manufactured
Usually the 1st and 5th numbers of the serial number, is the date. i.e. 1st letter 8 and the 5th letter 7, means its a 1987. Thats what mine is, the Gibson website will tell you.
