I saw a 4 string bass guitar and I want to buy it. The price is very cheap (100 $) and the guitar sounds and looks good also. But the problem is, there is no brand name in it . The only word I found on the guitar is "CMI Bass Guitar" written on the Peg Head (the tuning key area). Neither me nor any of my frinds have heard of this "CMI" name. Is it a brand name? If it is, how good is this thing? Is the price 100 $ is right for this? I The reaseon I liked the guitar is, the fretboard of the guitar is not the regular size of a bass, instead, it has the size of an electric lead / rythem guitar. Thus, it is very comfortable to play. can you give me any information about it ? I will be very pleased. Thank You
I had a red Ovation Tornado that I shipped to Italy to a Storm series collector. I had no serial# and found out that I had a prototype. I had a local guitar repairman reset the neck and playing action for big bottom strings. When he took the neck rod adjustment cover, we found the number 24 etched with an awl. I found out that only 25 prototypes were made and that Roy Clark had number three and Keith Partrige owned number 17. I will try to dig up my resources for you. I got $500 for the guitar and the buyer paid over a hundred dollars for shipping and insurance.
I have one also. The model Number, rather than the serial number will indicate year. Mine is a model 1231, indicating that it was manufactured in 1971. Here’s a link, hope it helps.

This is a great guitar. I owned it since 1997 (second). I love the tone. It sound better than Ibanez RG (standard). My Lyon = made in korea too. Feat:mapple fingerboard, pickup=S-S-H.

Is it possible to refret a Matrix? I just read on the ovation website that the neck and frets are intregal (on piece). is this true on all of them?

I acquired an Applause Matrix guitar about a year ago, (with metal fingerboard). Are we talking about the same guitars? Andy Schlosser (at Kaman)tells me it would have sold for around $250 in the USA or £250 here in the UK. It’s around twenty-five years old and- being virtually unplayed in all that time, is in immaculate condition. Does anyone know what this would be worth now?
I’ve had mine from new. A most unusual guitar. The fretboard is made of aluminium alloy…sprayed black. The neck is some plastic or other. Sounds souless?……sounds great. It cost £250 uk in the late 70’s…don’t know what its worth now
: I’ve got an ovayion matrix acoustical bought in 1996 at a cost of $500, I;ve been told on good authority that on today;s market it can bring upwards of &1800. As long as it is good condition.
And another one with one of them old Ovation Matrix Guitars 1132, Aluminum neck, probably old and what have you.
I traded mine for one months rent 8 years ago, and it was used already. The guitar is not what I would call "in mint condition". A lot of the color is gone from the neck and the frets have to be changed, but I guess that’s the price of time.
As for the way that beauty sounds, I can only chime in praising it as a real trooper. I never gigged with the guitar, it’s been in the studio since I got it. I rented it out to a guy who recorded a cover of Led Zep’s "Rain Song" in our studio and I almost fainted!!!
Now my question to you other owners of one of these diamonds, what am I looking at – pricewise – to get the frets changed? And what frets should I choose?
Also, to the person who is looking for a Matrix –> deep down in my heart I am a "Martin" man anyway, so if you want I can send you pix, so you can judge the condition of the guitar yourself. And if you like it, "make me an offer I cannot refuse"

I too bought an Ovation 1132-1 in 1977. With the exception of needing some neck work, this has been a really great love affair.
My Ovation is tone perfect and appears to still look brand new, and I play nearly every day. 33 years and it is still my favorite and I’ve owned many, many guitars This guitar stills resonates like a piano. It is an absolute shotgun and would consider selling it. It has never let me down. I doubt it has much value $ wise, but to me it is priceless
I also have one of these 70s Ovation Matrixes (Matrices?). Got mine in ’78, been playing it regularly since. Still sounds great, still use it for some amateur gig stuff with a soundhole Fishman. Only real complaint is that there’s too much fret buzz. This is stems from a) the action is low to begin with, and, b) as noted by others in this discussion, you can’t mess with the neck or frets because they’re a solid piece of aluminum. But otherwise still a great sound to it.

I had one from the late 70’s in natural that I just sold for 750. I still have my original early early 70s in sunburst. I’ve never had a guitar with such a fast fingerboard and rich sound.
I got my new Ovation matrix model no 1132-4 serial no 145030 in 1979 at a knock down price of £120. I believe the list price at the time was Aprox £ 250. this is in england .
and the guitar sounds better than ever these days it is an acoustic only model, although i am tempted to get a pickup installed in it. I was told that it was never a very succesful model , due to its alluminium neck which is supposed to go out of turn in different temperatures. I must say i have never found this to happen to mine. as for value.. I’m not sure , but would imagine in england , them worth approx £ 300. not that i would ever part with mine. it plays superb and the sound is as good as any £1000 guitar i have ever played
I just had my guitar stolen with my car and need a replacement cost. 1132-1 model, I had a parametric pickup put in and bought it 2ndhand about 15 years ago for about $1200…. still sounds awesome. Im a little at odds about the varied prices, some $3000 and some down to $11 on ebay. Can anyone enlighten me? thanks
i’ve just found one displayed in an ad in a paper and it reads: Good condition Ovation Matrix 1132-4 guitar, stand and strap.
Guitar is in good condition – slight mark on the decorative bit under the strings (not sure what it’s called!) but otherwise in good nick. Comes with leather strap and stand. Never been gigged. Just light amateur use.
how much do you think i should part with to get this as the seller is open to any offers, also i will be moving abroad to a hot and humid country so do you think this will affect the sound of the guitar?

The neck made the balance on the guitar a little difficult, but the neck was incredibly slick, with wonderful precision and an easy touch. I gave to the guitar to a friend when I got my 12 string and have since lost touch, but I sure miss it. I don’t know why Ovation didn’t keep making them…they sound great, and didn’t cost much. I used a transducer and flanger with that guitar…even backed an album with it. If anyone wants to sell one, please let me know!

I just bought my matrix and i love it. I have many guitars and i have to say this is one of my best. It does have a minor crack right under the bridge. This does not effect the sound at all. The reason why is the one piece aluminum fretboard/frets. The frets eventually wear down and I’ve been told by Ovation themselves that they are impossible to replace. My model is an Ovation Matrix, model 1132-4. This was my first guitar, given to me as a gift by my now deceased father, and I’ll never get rid of it. But I sure would love to play it again.

I was given an Ovation guitar with the model number of 1132-4. There is another number in the sound hole on a sticker under ovation. The number is 110836. Is this the serial number? There is also the number 10 engraved in the fiberglass above the sticker. I am trying to find out the year of the guitar. Please help! Thank you!

Hi I just purchased an Ovation Matrix model 1132-n it is autographed as well by Toby Keith, Junior Brown, Gary P Nunn and David Alan Coe. I was wanting anyinfo I could get about the guitar itself if anyone has a clue. It seems in overall good shape, although it does seem to have some cracks (not deep….) on the front of the guitar. I bought a 12 string pr 715 in about 1980 or 81 and just found it in the closet.Don’t know what its worth but I don’t play it and would like to get rid of it.Anybody know? It was made in Japan.

hello…..My sisters and I bought my dad a PR-715-12 ASB over 25 years ago maybe….excellent guitar…love it….my dad passed away and now it came back to me…..took it in and had it cleaned up…..man….it looks brand new and plays as such…..i’ll own it forever…..what a full sound it has……love them 12 strings…..thanks…just wanted to share this……Mike…Chicago IL.
I have the same 12 string. It sounds great! I recently put some Peavy strings on it. I am the oringal owner and purchased the guitar in the early 80’s. It used to break the high G string but this new set has lasted a couple of months.

I just purchased the exact same model as you own. Made in Kalamazoo Michigan, 12 string and tghe serial number is 12402. It also reads that it was made in Japan.

Well Well Well if it isnt the old t 60. I almost did the same thing as you did. I just finished giving my boyfriend head and I really felt like rubbing some guitar strings against my genitals. So I whipped the peavey out and busted a nut all over it.

T60 and all T series Peaveys were not made until 1977 and not released on the retail market untill 1978. There is NO WAY you have a 1976 Peavey of ANY model number.

My 1998 edition of blue book guitars says that in the 70’s the T-60 was $299 with molded case. Finishes other than natural are worth more also worth more with a rosewood fretboard. In the 1970’s $300 bucks was like a $600 guitar today.

sure would like to know what they call the fifth vol. knob up on the cutaway! like to the year of it too (anyone seen one like that its factory!) think they call it master vol.
Peavey customer service (avaialble on their website) could answer your question for sure, but from what I have seem of T-60 serial numbers, that one would be no later than 1980.
The 01389793 is a 1983 model, unfortunatly thats the best I can do since Peavey really didn’t keep track of production numbers very good
the production numbers for 1983 ran from 0130 to 0169 so you can pretty well tell that it was produced early 1983
I have a T-60, white with maple dot neck. Great guitar!! I contacted Peavey a couple of years ago, and they told me their serial/numbering system was not very good, and said there was really no way to tell what year it was made. From what I understand they started making them in about 76 up until about 84.
Try peavey.com website. While you are there download a manual and see what a wonderful instrument this is. I have one, black with black rosewood fingerboard and pearl dots.
My serial number starts with 011 there must have been plenty sold. I saw one (natural color) for sale in a pawn shop. They wanted $600.Canadian

Im not sure how much these guitars are worth but i just bought one in mint condition from an old man for 50 bucks! apparently he had no idea he had a vintage instrument.
Just purchased a T-60 from a fella and the serial number is: 00291372, it also has a name burned into the front of the guitar above the fretboard which is: Chip Dale. Does anyone know anything about this guitar and why the name is burned into the front of it.
The name burned into your T-60 is probably NOT Chip Dale, but instead it’s Chip Todd. Chip was the lead designer/developer of the T series of Peavey guitars. Hartley Peavey wanted to market a guitar of very good quality and then sell it at a reasonable price point.
If you have the name burned in – that is one that Chip has worked on in recent years. It’s not something the factory did. i’d need a picture or two but there has most likely been some custom work done on your guitar.
I bought a used T-60 in 1978 and the serial number is 474637. I still have it after all these years. According to your chart that guitar was made between 1990 and 1991. This is certainly a few years after I purchased min in 1978
looking for info on a guitar posibly made by gibson for hohner, all parts/body/neck/stock are exactly the same as the gibson les paul, the only difference is that it carries the hohner rockwood pro 200 logo on the headstock.

I was in Seoul Korea last 2 weeks and was looking for a Les Paul copy guitar…. Korea guitars are very cheap in Seoul (duhhh…)
I was actaully looking for a Tokai LoveRock which IMHO is the best LP copy! (I’ve tried one before) and it’s handmade. But couldn’t find any in Seoul. So I tried other brand and Hohner RP200 is definately the best in it’s peers.
It has the built and sound of a LP, the only thing I don’t like is it’s cheap looking tuners. But, I can’t complain for a US$170 guiatr!! 🙂
BTW, anyone knows how much is the RP200 selling for in US or UK? just wanna know the price.

I bought mine in New Glasgow,Nova Scotia,Canada in around 1988 it was second hand but it was in good shape.Mine was also ivory in color and really metallic, had 2 single coils and a humbucker and a fine tuner tremelo bridge. I still use this guitar today although i’ve had neck work done.The humbucker sounds great and the whole guitar is really quiet.I can’t find anything out about this guitar and i’ve really tried!, it seems its pretty rare.I’ve seen another guitar that was very similar it was called a "Gibson USA-1" but it did’nt bare the epiphone name. It was the same headstock and pickup config. also the three mini toggle swicthes for pickup selection.

Epiphone has rights to build Les Pauls to Gibson specs. They are mostly built in Korea. There is a wide range of prices. See if you can locate the guitars model at http://www.musiciansfriend.com. One thing to consider too is does it have a hard shell case? These usually cost between $60 and $70. If so, I would offer the dealer $200 cash.

I just purchased a wine red ephiphone with sunburst les paul about 5 months ago. I have played a wide selection of gibson les pauls and cannot tell the difference. What I can tell you is this, these guitars sound great! I also liked the gold hardware but be wary of one thing, if your home is very humid, you might want to invest in a humidor, because the gold machinery is prone to surface rust.

I’m looking for pictures or info ona guitar that was made by Gibson in the the mid 70’s I think around the time of the L-5. What I remember the most was that it had single coils like a strat and I believe it was maple and a double cutaway. I don’t think was seen at the time as as sleek ro as pretty as the other Gibson products. It didn’t last long in production and I can’t seem to eyeball in achives or galleries.

I recently bought a 1981 Firebird II with RD active electronics. It’s rather unusual, and tends not to appear in reference materials about Firebirds.
Gibson have provided be with some data about its construction, but I would like additional information about it (numbers made, any opinions or impressions of owners) if possible.

Its on the line of a tele., but has a flame maple top,and rose wood fret board. also custom pick ups of some kind.

C.F. Martin Company, Stinger Model Guitars 1985-1996
In November of 1985, C.F. Martin unveiled its Stinger line of solidbody electric guitars and bassâs. Most
Stinger guitars were made by the world renowned Samick Piano Company located at 424 Cheongcheon 2-Dong, Bupyeong-gu Inchuon, South Korea and shipped to the C.F. Martin factory located at 510 Sycamore Street, Nazareth, PA.18064 for a final inspection and set-up. In 1989 Martin expanded by 10% adding 6,200 square feet to their warehouse to accommodate for the Stinger line. After final set-up some guitars received a clear decal placed on the seven digit, serial numbered neck plate that stated âPrepared and Inspected by C. F. Martin & Co., Inc.â before being distributed to dealers. The Stinger guitar line was advertised as âStinger from the Martin Companyâ. However, not all Stinger guitars have a serial number. C.F. Martin also advertised and sold Stinger brand guitar strings also in 1989 amplifiers and effects boxes. All Stinger models had a one year warranty on the guitar and 90 dayâs on the electronics. Stingers were built to C.F. Martin specifications and are high quality.
C.F. Martin never actually produced Stinger catalogs, but they are known to be listed in some Martin catalogs, magazines and flyers. C.F. Martin claims they did not record any serial numbers so a detailed record is unavailable. Early Stingers were four basic body styles, a conventional Strat shape, a Strat-style with an arched top, a Tele and a Precision style bass. These came in a variety of finish and pickup configuration options. Headstocks were a kind of modified Strat-style six-in-line, with a pointed throat and slightly hooked nose, with a painted (or decal) triangular Stinger logo running under the strings. All had bolt-on maple necks and frett board. Guitars were 25.4â, and the basses were 34â scale.
Sources other than available flyers do not mention all the fingerboard and hardware color options.
The basses followed a similar pattern. The SBX sported one split-coil pickup, volume, tone and black, candy apple red, white pearl and gun metal finishes, with matching colored neck and colored chrome hardware.
The SBL-10 (1986-1988) offered a split neck pickup and single-coil bridge pickup, with two volumes, master tone, three-way select, cream, black, white, and black pearl finish option, with matching maple neck and hardware.
The 1988 November Stinger price list contained the SWG strat ($281), SGV ($294), SSX Strat ($308), and STX ($330) guitars and the SBX ($337) and SBL-10 ($367) basses, the black SSX and SBX now available in lefty versions (add $15). Essentially these were unchanged in options. Other known Stinger guitars are the SSX-10, SSL-20, SSZ, SPX, SRX and ST4.
Three guitars and two basses were listed in the Guitar World 1990-91 Guitar Buyerâs Guide.
Basses were the SBL and SBL-105. The SBL was a P-bass with split-coil and single-coil pickups, rosewood âboard, and black hardware. The SBL-105 is a five-string version of the SBL. These later models had a âShark Toothâ headstock which was originally designed by Randy Rhoads for his custom built Jackson guitar.
These last Stingers apparently hung around for a year or so. In the Guitar World 1992-93 Guitar Buyerâs Guide only one Stinger guitar was listed, the ST-2, an inexpensive Strat with three single-coil pickups. No basses were listed (The ST2 was available in a guitar and bass model).
In 1993 Martin Stinger sales lagged. The Stinger ST-2, tremelo Strats in black, red and white were still in the 1996 C.F. Martin catalog. Stingers are well built guitars that setup well, with a decent hefty feel. Stingers were always well made, clearly âMartins.â However, C.F. Martin Co. claims they where only distributors the Stinger due to the Trademark. However, Martin is heavily associated with the Stinger guitar line.

I actually just acquired a red "Stinger" with the strat shape that bared the initials "SWC" on the headstock and I assumed it was just some generic brand. Cool to see it’s a Martin!!

I actually have a stinger srx offset v model ive had since 94. I can only find a pic in an old flyer of 1. If anybody has 1 or info about them i would appreciate seeing n hearing about it.
I purchased a stinger (X-16 was the model) back in 85-86. It was shaped very similar to the Dean that dimebag played. It was flat black, double humbucker , with a Floyd licensed trem.
I picked it up in Toronto, Ontario and took it with me when I moved to Morro Bay California. I came back to Toronto in ’88 without the guitar and eventually it was lost 🙁 I still think about this guitar all the time, and the fact that I can’t find any more information on it has been driving me crazy for years.
Why did the Stinger SSL-1 have a non-Floyd post spacing? I cannot find a single tremolo system to replace mine after the block broke on it. Martin and Samick have been unhelpful.

I saw a 4 string bass guitar and I want to buy it. The price is very cheap (100 $) and the guitar sounds and looks good also. But the problem is, there is no brand name in it . The only word I found on the guitar is "CMI Bass Guitar" written on the Peg Head (the tuning key area). Neither me nor any of my frinds have heard of this "CMI" name. Is it a brand name? If it is, how good is this thing? Is the price 100 $ is right for this? I The reaseon I liked the guitar is, the fretboard of the guitar is not the regular size of a bass, instead, it has the size of an electric lead / rythem guitar. I had a red Ovation Tornado that I shipped to Italy to a Storm series collector. I had no serial# and found out that I had a prototype. I had a local guitar repairman reset the neck and playing action for big bottom strings. When he took the neck rod adjustment cover, we found the number 24 etched with an awl. I found out that only 25 prototypes were made and that Roy Clark had number three and Keith Partrige owned number 17. I will try to dig up my resources for you. I got $500 for the guitar and the buyer paid over a hundred dollars for shipping and insurance.

This is a great guitar. I owned it since 1997 (second). I love the tone. It sound better than Ibanez RG (standard). My Lyon = made in korea too. Feat:mapple fingerboard, pickup=S-S-H.

My brother works at Kaman Aerospace where the Ovation guitars were manufactured. He purchased the last two Ovation Matrix guitars before the company phased out the guitar manufacturing facility at Kaman in CT. My sister-in-law has one and I have the other. I wouldn’t part with this guitar for all the tea in China. Not only for sentimental reasons, this guitar sounds fantastic and holds a tune like you would not believe. Kaman Aerospace/Ovation had a great product for very little $$.

I acquired an Applause Matrix guitar about a year ago, (with metal fingerboard). Are we talking about the same guitars? Andy Schlosser (at Kaman)tells me it would have sold for around $250 in the USA or £250 here in the UK. It’s around twenty-five years old and- being virtually unplayed in all that time, is in immaculate condition. Does anyone know what this would be worth now?

And another one with one of them old Ovation Matrix Guitars 1132, Aluminum neck, probably old and what have you.
I traded mine for one months rent 8 years ago, and it was used already. The guitar is not what I would call "in mint condition". A lot of the color is gone from the neck and the frets have to be changed, but I guess that’s the price of time.
As for the way that beauty sounds, I can only chime in praising it as a real trooper. I never gigged with the guitar, it’s been in the studio since I got it. I rented it out to a guy who recorded a cover of Led Zep’s "Rain Song" in our studio and I almost fainted!!!
Now my question to you other owners of one of these diamonds, what am I looking at – pricewise – to get the frets changed? And what frets should I choose?
Also, to the person who is looking for a Matrix –> deep down in my heart I am a "Martin" man anyway, so if you want I can send you pix, so you can judge the condition of the guitar yourself. And if you like it, "make me an offer I cannot refuse"

I too bought an Ovation 1132-1 in 1977. With the exception of needing some neck work, this has been a really great love affair.
My Ovation is tone perfect and appears to still look brand new, and I play nearly every day. 33 years and it is still my favorite and I’ve owned many, many guitars This guitar stills resonates like a piano. It is an absolute shotgun and would consider selling it. It has never let me down. I doubt it has much value $ wise, but to me it is priceless
I also have one of these 70s Ovation Matrixes (Matrices?). Got mine in ’78, been playing it regularly since. Still sounds great, still use it for some amateur gig stuff with a soundhole Fishman. Only real complaint is that there’s too much fret buzz. This is stems from a) the action is low to begin with, and, b) as noted by others in this discussion, you can’t mess with the neck or frets because they’re a solid piece of aluminum. But otherwise still a great sound to it.

I had one from the late 70’s in natural that I just sold for 750. I still have my original early early 70s in sunburst. I’ve never had a guitar with such a fast fingerboard and rich sound.
I got my new Ovation matrix model no 1132-4 serial no 145030 in 1979 at a knock down price of £120. I believe the list price at the time was Aprox £ 250. this is in england .
and the guitar sounds better than ever these days it is an acoustic only model, although i am tempted to get a pickup installed in it. I was told that it was never a very succesful model , due to its alluminium neck which is supposed to go out of turn in different temperatures. I must say i have never found this to happen to mine. as for value.. I’m not sure , but would imagine in england , them worth approx £ 300. not that i would ever part with mine. it plays superb and the sound is as good as any £1000 guitar i have ever played
I just had my guitar stolen with my car and need a replacement cost. 1132-1 model, I had a parametric pickup put in and bought it 2ndhand about 15 years ago for about $1200…. still sounds awesome. Im a little at odds about the varied prices, some $3000 and some down to $11 on ebay. Can anyone enlighten me? thanks
i’ve just found one displayed in an ad in a paper and it reads: Good condition Ovation Matrix 1132-4 guitar, stand and strap.
Guitar is in good condition – slight mark on the decorative bit under the strings (not sure what it’s called!) but otherwise in good nick. Comes with leather strap and stand. Never been gigged. Just light amateur use.
how much do you think i should part with to get this as the seller is open to any offers, also i will be moving abroad to a hot and humid country so do you think this will affect the sound of the guitar?

I just bought my matrix and i love it. I have many guitars and i have to say this is one of my best. It does have a minor crack right under the bridge. This does not effect the sound at all. The reason why is the one piece aluminum fretboard/frets. The frets eventually wear down and I’ve been told by Ovation themselves that they are impossible to replace. My model is an Ovation Matrix, model 1132-4. This was my first guitar, given to me as a gift by my now deceased father, and I’ll never get rid of it. But I sure would love to play it again.

Looking for information on my first Ovation acoustic guitar CC 057 serial number 1615926
I was given an Ovation guitar with the model number of 1132-4. There is another number in the sound hole on a sticker under ovation. The number is 110836. Is this the serial number? There is also the number 10 engraved in the fiberglass above the sticker. I am trying to find out the year of the guitar. Please help! Thank you!

Hi I just purchased an Ovation Matrix model 1132-n it is autographed as well by Toby Keith, Junior Brown, Gary P Nunn and David Alan Coe. I was wanting anyinfo I could get about the guitar itself if anyone has a clue. It seems in overall good shape, although it does seem to have some cracks (not deep….) on the front of the guitar. My inner tag says it was made in Korea, not Japan, like some. I wish I could get more info on this little guitar.

I bought a 12 string pr 715 in about 1980 or 81 and just found it in the closet.Don’t know what its worth but I don’t play it and would like to get rid of it.Anybody know? It was made in Japan.

hello…..My sisters and I bought my dad a PR-715-12 ASB over 25 years ago maybe….excellent guitar…love it….my dad passed away and now it came back to me…..took it in and had it cleaned up…..man….it looks brand new and plays as such…..i’ll own it forever…..what a full sound it has……love them 12 strings…..thanks…just wanted to share this……Mike…Chicago IL.

I have the same 12 string. It sounds great! I recently put some Peavy strings on it. I am the oringal owner and purchased the guitar in the early 80’s. It used to break the high G string but this new set has lasted a couple of months.

I just purchased the exact same model as you own. Made in Kalamazoo Michigan, 12 string and tghe serial number is 12402. It also reads that it was made in Japan.

Well Well Well if it isnt the old t 60. I almost did the same thing as you did. I just finished giving my boyfriend head and I really felt like rubbing some guitar strings against my genitals. So I whipped the peavey out and busted a nut all over it.

T60 and all T series Peaveys were not made until 1977 and not released on the retail market untill 1978. There is NO WAY you have a 1976 Peavey of ANY model number.

My 1998 edition of blue book guitars says that in the 70’s the T-60 was $299 with molded case. Finishes other than natural are worth more also worth more with a rosewood fretboard. In the 1970’s $300 bucks was like a $600 guitar today.
Julia, if you have a Peavey T-60 that was made in 1976, then you’ve got the only one….first year for the T=60 was 1978

Peavey t60 $175 to $225 according to vintage guitar price guide.
sure would like to know what they call the fifth vol. knob up on the cutaway! like to the year of it too (anyone seen one like that its factory!) think they call it master vol.
Peavey customer service (avaialble on their website) could answer your question for sure, but from what I have seem of T-60 serial numbers, that one would be no later than 1980.

The 01389793 is a 1983 model, unfortunatly thats the best I can do since Peavey really didn’t keep track of production numbers very good
the production numbers for 1983 ran from 0130 to 0169 so you can pretty well tell that it was produced early 1983

I have a T-60, white with maple dot neck. Great guitar!! I contacted Peavey a couple of years ago, and they told me their serial/numbering system was not very good, and said there was really no way to tell what year it was made. From what I understand they started making them in about 76 up until about 84.
Try peavey.com website. While you are there download a manual and see what a wonderful instrument this is. I have one, black with black rosewood fingerboard and pearl dots.
My serial number starts with 011 there must have been plenty sold. I saw one (natural color) for sale in a pawn shop. They wanted $600.Canadian
I just bought one too (I’ve been on the look out for one for ages.)
Mine is natural with maple neck. Very solidly built, serial no 00345831, and in good condition.
I’ve already contacted Peavey customer service, and will post details if there is a ‘formula’ to the serial no order.

You cannot get a guitar today made like these t60,s without spending big dollars. Go to Ebay to get one. They normally sell for what they cost new . 2 to 3 hundred. A bargain for a great guitar.

The name burned into your T-60 is probably NOT Chip Dale, but instead it’s Chip Todd. Chip was the lead designer/developer of the T series of Peavey guitars. Hartley Peavey wanted to market a guitar of very good quality and then sell it at a reasonable price point.
If you have the name burned in – that is one that Chip has worked on in recent years. It’s not something the factory did. i’d need a picture or two but there has most likely been some custom work done on your guitar.

I bought a used T-60 in 1978 and the serial number is 474637. I still have it after all these years. According to your chart that guitar was made between 1990 and 1991. This is certainly a few years after I purchased min in 1978
you are reading the chart wrong.6 digit starting with 4 is 1979

I was in Seoul Korea last 2 weeks and was looking for a Les Paul copy guitar…. Korea guitars are very cheap in Seoul (duhhh…)
I was actaully looking for a Tokai LoveRock which IMHO is the best LP copy! (I’ve tried one before) and it’s handmade. But couldn’t find any in Seoul. So I tried other brand and Hohner RP200 is definately the best in it’s peers.
It has the built and sound of a LP, the only thing I don’t like is it’s cheap looking tuners. But, I can’t complain for a US$170 guiatr!! 🙂
BTW, anyone knows how much is the RP200 selling for in US or UK? just wanna know the price.

I bought mine in New Glasgow,Nova Scotia,Canada in around 1988 it was second hand but it was in good shape.Mine was also ivory in color and really metallic, had 2 single coils and a humbucker and a fine tuner tremelo bridge. I still use this guitar today although i’ve had neck work done.The humbucker sounds great and the whole guitar is really quiet.I can’t find anything out about this guitar and i’ve really tried!, it seems its pretty rare.I’ve seen another guitar that was very similar it was called a "Gibson USA-1" but it did’nt bare the epiphone name. It was the same headstock and pickup config. also the three mini toggle swicthes for pickup selection.

Epiphone has rights to build Les Pauls to Gibson specs. They are mostly built in Korea. There is a wide range of prices. See if you can locate the guitars model at http://www.musiciansfriend.com. One thing to consider too is does it have a hard shell case? These usually cost between $60 and $70. If so, I would offer the dealer $200 cash.

I just purchased a wine red ephiphone with sunburst les paul about 5 months ago. I have played a wide selection of gibson les pauls and cannot tell the difference. What I can tell you is this, these guitars sound great! I also liked the gold hardware but be wary of one thing, if your home is very humid, you might want to invest in a humidor, because the gold machinery is prone to surface rust.

I’m looking for pictures or info ona guitar that was made by Gibson in the the mid 70’s I think around the time of the L-5. What I remember the most was that it had single coils like a strat and I believe it was maple and a double cutaway. I don’t think was seen at the time as as sleek ro as pretty as the other Gibson products. It didn’t last long in production and I can’t seem to eyeball in achives or galleries.

C.F. Martin Company, Stinger Model Guitars 1985-1996
In November of 1985, C.F. Martin unveiled its Stinger line of solidbody electric guitars and bassâs. Most
Stinger guitars were made by the world renowned Samick Piano Company located at 424 Cheongcheon 2-Dong, Bupyeong-gu Inchuon, South Korea and shipped to the C.F. Martin factory located at 510 Sycamore Street, Nazareth, PA.18064 for a final inspection and set-up. In 1989 Martin expanded by 10% adding 6,200 square feet to their warehouse to accommodate for the Stinger line. After final set-up some guitars received a clear decal placed on the seven digit, serial numbered neck plate that stated âPrepared and Inspected by C. F. Martin & Co., Inc.â before being distributed to dealers. The Stinger guitar line was advertised as âStinger from the Martin Companyâ. However, not all Stinger guitars have a serial number. C.F. Martin also advertised and sold Stinger brand guitar strings also in 1989 amplifiers and effects boxes. All Stinger models had a one year warranty on the guitar and 90 dayâs on the electronics. Stingers were built to C.F. Martin specifications and are high quality.
C.F. Martin never actually produced Stinger catalogs, but they are known to be listed in some Martin catalogs, magazines and flyers. C.F. Martin claims they did not record any serial numbers so a detailed record is unavailable. Early Stingers were four basic body styles, a conventional Strat shape, a Strat-style with an arched top, a Tele and a Precision style bass. These came in a variety of finish and pickup configuration options. Headstocks were a kind of modified Strat-style six-in-line, with a pointed throat and slightly hooked nose, with a painted (or decal) triangular Stinger logo running under the strings. All had bolt-on maple necks and frett board. Guitars were 25.4â, and the basses were 34â scale.
Sources other than available flyers do not mention all the fingerboard and hardware color options.
The basses followed a similar pattern. The SBX sported one split-coil pickup, volume, tone and black, candy apple red, white pearl and gun metal finishes, with matching colored neck and colored chrome hardware.
The SBL-10 (1986-1988) offered a split neck pickup and single-coil bridge pickup, with two volumes, master tone, three-way select, cream, black, white, and black pearl finish option, with matching maple neck and hardware.
The 1988 November Stinger price list contained the SWG strat ($281), SGV ($294), SSX Strat ($308), and STX ($330) guitars and the SBX ($337) and SBL-10 ($367) basses, the black SSX and SBX now available in lefty versions (add $15). Essentially these were unchanged in options. Other known Stinger guitars are the SSX-10, SSL-20, SSZ, SPX, SRX and ST4.
Three guitars and two basses were listed in the Guitar World 1990-91 Guitar Buyerâs Guide.
Basses were the SBL and SBL-105. The SBL was a P-bass with split-coil and single-coil pickups, rosewood âboard, and black hardware. The SBL-105 is a five-string version of the SBL. These later models had a âShark Toothâ headstock which was originally designed by Randy Rhoads for his custom built Jackson guitar.
These last Stingers apparently hung around for a year or so. In the Guitar World 1992-93 Guitar Buyerâs Guide only one Stinger guitar was listed, the ST-2, an inexpensive Strat with three single-coil pickups. No basses were listed (The ST2 was available in a guitar and bass model).
In 1993 Martin Stinger sales lagged. The Stinger ST-2, tremelo Strats in black, red and white were still in the 1996 C.F. Martin catalog. Stingers are well built guitars that setup well, with a decent hefty feel. Stingers were always well made, clearly âMartins.â However, C.F. Martin Co. claims they where only distributors the Stinger due to the Trademark. However, Martin is heavily associated with the Stinger guitar line.

Could anyone tell me the value of the SBX or where I could find out the value? I have a dark green (almost looks black) bass that I would be interested in selling, but I’d like to find out the value first. Thank you for your help!

Yea, i Have one. I’m actually trying to sell it. It sounds really nice on clear channel. I dont know if u wnana by one, but they are good guitars. I have no idea how valuable it is.
I actually just acquired a red "Stinger" with the strat shape that bared the initials "SWC" on the headstock and I assumed it was just some generic brand. Cool to see it’s a Martin!!

recently ive been taking it apart and replacing everything
my guitar has a dark silvery blue strat shaped body and a black ibanez looking neck(their standard neck i supose
the neck doesnt even have a tress rode attached to the body so i am quite pissed
replacing it with a beringer nech
and gibsin les paul hummbuckers…..

I actually have a stinger srx offset v model ive had since 94. I can only find a pic in an old flyer of 1. If anybody has 1 or info about them i would appreciate seeing n hearing about it.
I purchased a stinger (X-16 was the model) back in 85-86. It was shaped very similar to the Dean that dimebag played. It was flat black, double humbucker , with a Floyd licensed trem.
I picked it up in Toronto, Ontario and took it with me when I moved to Morro Bay California. I came back to Toronto in ’88 without the guitar and eventually it was lost 🙁 I still think about this guitar all the time, and the fact that I can’t find any more information on it has been driving me crazy for years.

Why did the Stinger SSL-1 have a non-Floyd post spacing? I cannot find a single tremolo system to replace mine after the block broke on it. Martin and Samick have been unhelpful.

It has a serial number on the back of the neck stamped in ink saying "a 0232". It has the 30th anniversary edition on between the 18th and 19th fret. It has pearl keys and 2 pickups.
