Looking for info about Guild F30 NT HR

I just bought this guitar second hand and haven't been able to find much info on it. Serial # is AF 300297. Anyone know if this indicates it was made in 1997? The sticker says it's from Guild Music, Waverly Rhode Island. I paid $1000.00 Canadian funds including a hardshell case and want to know if I was over-charged. Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Looking for info about Guild F30 NT HR

it would seem to have been made in 1996. (see http://www.mrgearhead.com/guild/dating.html). depending on its condition, etc., the price doesn't seem out of line. i'm still playing the 1976 model that i picked up in about 1980, and it's only gotten better. enjoy it.

Re: Looking for info about Guild F30 NT HR

I have one with serial number 300001. the date stamped on it is February 18, 1998. Yours probably has a date, too but you have to look hard. It is stamped inside on the block of wood where the neck meets the body. You need a flashlight to find it.

Guild F-30

Hi. I have recently come into my Dad's Guild F30NT. Serial number A1-287 (at least that's what it looks like, it's hand written). He owned a recording studio, and as his "house axe", it got very little use, and excellent care, and subsequently is in gorgeous condition.

I would love to know what year this guitar was made, and what it's value might be. In lieu of that, perhaps someone could refer me to a site where I could find this kind of info.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave i would say that you have a nice guitar of about mid sixties, valued at aprox. 500 to 1000 $ us. learn to play it, make dad happy and you have a new friend.

Re: Guild F-30

The serial number is probably AJ not AI. That prefix was used around '65-'69. Its probably worth 750-1000 I think, and there is possibility that it might be worth more. I'm not sure about its current market value. I'm seeking to buy one from this era, and this is the price I'm expecting to find it at. PW.

I bought a Guild f30 antique starburst brand new in 1964 for $180.00 I still have it and play it regular. It has been a really good almost trouble free guitar. I took it into a music store for a check up several years ago, and mentioned to the owner that it was getting old and maybe I should replace it. He told me No way! should I ever let this guitar go. It's gonna be very valuable someday. Seeing that the new ones sell for $1300 and up, I guess he gave me good advice.

Whats it worth!

I have a six string Guild Madeira, model P600R SN#A1669. I love the guitar, but was wondering if anyone could let me know what the market value is today. Thanks Craig Howard

Re: Whats it worth!

It depends on the shape the guitar is in and how well the buyer knows Guild and Madeira. What year was it made, that could make a difference too. I have the P500. Is yours a 2 or 3 piece back?

Re: Guild Guitar from the 1950's...Style X50

I have a 1958 Guild model x50, I cant find the value either. If anyone finds out the value please email me

Re: Guild Guitar from the 1950's...Style X50

My local (UK) guitar store has a mint '66 X-50 in stock as of August 2004 and is asking £800.

Re: Guild Guitar from the 1950's...Style X50

the x-50 model was an entry level guitar , made in N.Y.C. in the 50's , then moved thier shop to Hoboken , N.J. in the late 60's ,early 70's.
they were made from laminated maple tops-(which is a cheaper way of making guitars )-instead of solid tops and backs.
A mint condition 1950's x-50 model would run you about $500.00-$600.00 tops.
these are great guitars!!! i have my grandfathers 1951 x-50,and it still plays like a dream ...even though it's a little worn around the edges. And ya just can't beat that tone!!!!

A14-12

I recently aquired a 12 string Madeira. The sticker inside lists the model as A14-12, the serial# does not seem to be printed there. I was wonsering if someone could tell me about how old this guitar might be and what it might be worth. It's in raelly good shape.

Re: A14-12

In 1972 my wife purchased a Maderia A12 in Norfolk, VA for $230 back then $230 was a real $230.. I had that guitar until 1992 when someone decided they wanted it more than I did and so while in my bedroom changing they walked in and took it, leaving the case. I would say that the A12 is at least 20 years old.. mine would have been 33 years old this past Nov 2004... Sorry I couldnt help you out more. JB

Re: A14-12

My Dad gave me his old Madeira guitar and the model number is A-14. I haven't been able to find any information on it, but I can tell you he bought it in the early 70's. Mine is only a 6 string though. Hope this helps.

Madeira quandry

Its hard to believe the lack of info on these guitars. I have a A30MF. I have seen more info here than anywhere, but that F is puzzling.
The quandry: Mine needs some work, but it is hard to get past the looks I get when asking about the price to fix. I guess from the inquiries here, many people can't believe this is just a good sounding 'cheap' guitar. Count me in this group.
It would sure be nice money-wise to figure how much to spend on repairs.
