I can't tell you much outside of I have one with an earlier serial#. I checked the Martin website (Mguitar.com) and the DM series is called the "Road Series"
It will also show the manufactured date. Mine is listed as 1951 however I bought it new in about 1981. Was your made by Signa Guitars?

looking for a 1970-71-72 Guild d-25 - the dark read one

has anyone seen one for sale? Beeen searching guitar sites and auctions to no avail

Re: looking for a 1970-71-72 Guild d-25 - the dark read one

I have a Guild D25 Serial # 0G629 probably dates to 1960-70. I'm the second owner, bought it in Knoxville Tennessee in 1971. It's definitely seen The Road although for the past 25 years it's been retired.

I believe it to be all mahogany since the top's been quite dark since I bought it. Lovely old guitar, very mellow, thin neck, sounds really good with Martin Silk & Steels. Very full highs for recording.

Probably wouldn't sell it...just wanted to praise the Old Guilds. I had a bunch of them: Two early '60's F-212 Twelve-Strings, A 1965 Starfire 12 String, a 1964 Mark 2 or 3 Classical, and this D-25.

The newer Guilds don't hold a candle to the Guilds of the New Jersey & Rhode Island days... So much for Fender's Acoustic Line.

I have a Guild D-25 for sale -- dark red (rosewood?) finish. Slight finish wear, with a few small dings/scratches, but beautiful tone. Hasn't been played for years, so am willing to part with it for a reasonable price. Have photos, if you're interested. Guitar dates from approx 1976. Let me know if you're interested.

I have just what you'd like if you're still in the market.
Serial # DA1154423 is a 1974 dark red solid mahogany back & sides with a solid red spruce top. It has a factory installed Fishman transducer. It's in excellent condition with two very hard to spot small dings on the top and one by
the RCA input. $875 and it's on it's way. Make it a good home! Call me at 843 853 6470 if you want to talk live.

re: All D-25's were made with a Mahogany top as well as back and sides.

Just thought you'd like to know

Re: re: All D-25's were made with a Mahogany top as well as back and sides.

What about a 68 D25 BR (which I have)?

Re: re: All D-25's were made with a Mahogany top as well as back and sides.

All D-25's were NOT made with mahogany tops. Mine definitely has a solid spruce top.

Martin D-42

What do you know about Martin D-42? How many are made? How does the sound compare to others?

Re: Martin D-42

: What do you know about Martin D-42? How many are made? How does the sound compare to others?

Alright, Like everyone knows Martin and Co makes one of the nicest accoustic guitars known to man. I currently own one and I have played my whole life. The sound on a Martin Guitar is unmatchable to any other guitar. To my knowledge there was a limited number made on the Martin D-42. I know that you are lucky to own such a nice guitar. For further questions just take it to your local guitar store and they will be more than happy to tell you about your guitar.

Re: looking for info about the Fender strat

screw you

Re: looking for info about the Fender strat

well just saying i need info on strats leaves a very very broad realm.first of all there are tons of different models(standard strat, american std,delux......)naturaly the cheaper ones dont sound AS good as the more exepensive models(this doesnt mean they sound bad though, standards are the cheapest but i have one and it still sound pretty good).you should go to harmony central.com and look at some user reviews on fender strats if you would like to learn more about the fender stratocasters
