Re: Guild Madeira 2 String

: I have a Guild Madeira 12 String (model A-12)from the '70s that has an EXTREMELY high action. Essentially unplayable at this point. I've asked one repair shop about the possibility of fixing it and they tell me the repair will cost more than a new guitar of equivalent value. The sound is BIG and rich and I am reluctant to use it as a room ornament. Anybody have any ideas?

I JUST REBUILT ONE-THE PROBLEM IS THE THIN TOP AND THE EVEN THINNER BUTTRES JUST UNDER THE BRIDGE-THE WHOLE AREA IS PROBABLY LIFTED. I PUT A 3/16 BLOCK OF POPL;AR UNDER THE AREA AND BOTH GLUED AND BOLTED IT BELOW THE BRIDGE TO PREVENT IT. DIDN'T SEEM TO HURT THE SOUND AT ALL. IF YOU ARE NEAR LONG ISLAND NEW YORK, I CAN SHOW YOU HOW.
