How good is Yamaha?

I will post this message again. How good are Yamaha guitars? I live in Southwest China and the best guitar here (the most expensive, and the only import) is a Yamaha. The model I have seen is APX 4A. Where does Yamaha rank in the guitar world? Would Yamaha be a good buy if I wanted a reputable guitar?
