      In response to the message below I also have a Valencia 1972, serial 0062225, and can’t find out if it’s worth keeping or selling or just giving away. Did anyone respond to this earlier post?
      Cheers

    STAN;
    I have owned and used a bass guitar for many years and after running across your web site thought maby you could help identiy it for me>It looks very much like a
    gibson instument but it says Kalamazoo USA on the peg board. It is a short scale and was very easy and fast to play when compared to say a Fender Jazz bass.I bought it used in l970 and it served me for 20 years working in a weekend band.I would sure appreciate any information you could give me on the builder and any history you might know about this bass.It is a solid body(white) and has a single pickup with two volume and tone controls.I sure would appreciate any info you might have on the guitar. Thanks for your time. Sincerly: Larry Janke,Alma Center, Wisconsin

          Adam,
          I have one also. I was told by the guy I got it the guitar it was built by Gibson and sold via Wards or Sears. I guess Gibson used to sell guitars outside the dealer chain with this name. It comes from the name of the town they reside. Kalamazoo, MI

          If you find out something more let me know,

        Hey stan, I read the comment of someone inquiring about the Kalamazoo Bass guitar. Imagine, how we take for granted such items eh? I was eleven and traveled to Detroit to cut an album with a trio and a friend. My dad bought an Ampeg bass amp and the Kalamazoo Bass. I’m now 47 so the guitar has gone through a lot as it has been carted around by the family. I managed to snag it and it needs work. It needs to be repainted. The ebony thumbrest needs to be replaced. The chrome cover has to be found as well as the one that bridged over the strings. Some new strings and a neck adjustment would pretty much restore it. Currently, it is in Canada where I live. If you’re interested make me an offer.

        Thanks
