The condition is not quite good. Everything works fine, neck and frets are superb, but the body has a lot of dings and dongs. But it still plays wonderful.
The guitar "lives" in Germany 😉
It’s about to be sold for 250 euro, so mail me quick and make a better price, if u are interested

Does any one have any information on this guitar! Is $175.00 a good price for one? When were they made? where were they made? what is the current value of one?

: Does any one have any iformation on this guitar! I s $175.00 a good price for one?

I have one. Flame maple bookmatched back and sides, laminated spruce top, diecast tuners. I consider 175 dollars to be a lot of money for this guitar. I bought it in 91 or 92 for about 300 dutch guilders, about 150 dollars at the time.

Well built, late ‘eighties, early nineties.

      1. Re: info Ibanez Lonestar LS300
        Tim Talbot

I too have a Lonestar Ibanez LS300 acoustic guitar, which going by the serial number was made in May 1986. I bought it in Australia a little after that for around $600, but I wouldn’t sell it for three times that price today. It’s such an amazing guitar because of the slimline neck.

I had played only electric guitars until I got this one, and the salesman in the music store told me Ibanez made the neck mainly with electric players in mind. It has an electric guitar feel and I loved it the second I tried it in the store. An advanced guitar student who saw me testing it asked if he could try it, and he said it had a superb feel and wanted to buy one himself.

Because the strings are closer together than on other acoustics, you can form chords faster and play licks cleaner and faster.

Does anyone know whether there are any modern guitars with this type of neck? It would be great if Ibanez re-released the LS300, but failing that what other acoustics have this amazingly easy-to-play neck? Anyone know?

      2. Re: info Ibanez LS300 -- it's priceless
        Abel

I don’t know about the BK model; maybe that was a slightly cheaper version of the LS300. The acoustic LS300 I had cost about $500 in 1986. It’s my all-time favorite acoustic guitar, and I would love Ibanez to re-release this guitar from the Lonestar series so I could get another one. Some connoisseurs who played them in the 1980s and don’t have them any longer may pay $1500 or more these days for one.
The reason is not the fantastic spruce and rosewood used, or the neat-looking black six-strings-on-one-side tophead, but the well-proportioned thin neck. The genius who came up with the idea of using the dimensions of an electric guitar neck on an acoustic should have got the world’s top guitar award. It was brilliant!
I played acoustic rock in the 1980s, then graduated to jazz chords — which sometimes means you have to get to awkward fingerings fast. The Ibanez Lonestar LS300 is the only acoustic guitar I know that allows non-experts to get to these awkward chord positions fast and accurately.
Hey Ibanez — how about re-releasing the Lonestar series?
This was like the Rolls-Royce of guitars at an affordable price because of the brilliant design. These days it would be more popular than ever.

            hello there
i have in my collection a 1984-5 ibanez black LS-300..
it has a couple of blemishes (minute) on the face and apart from that, like new.i also have a few name guitars of varying vintage and styles which it more than stands its ground with in all parameters.
these guitars are solid-and record beautifully in most mediums.
i am scaling down my collection some-what and i am looking for some-one who would be interested in purchasing this instrument for the right reasons and not just to have another guitar on the wall.
any ; that said if there is any-one out there interested in this exceptional instrument – get in touch and we can discuss it. i have had this guitar a long time now and it really does need to go to some-one who can use it get max enjoyment out of one of these unique instruments.

: If anyone is interested I have a 1970’s Ibanez Strat copy for sale with tobacco sunburst finish in near mint condition everything is original including finish.I believe it was nicknamed the "Lawsuit Model". Asking $500US

it is not one of the pieces named by norlin/gibson in ’76.
it is either a challenger or a silver series model( i have both) the street price on that piece is about 275.us
the actual piece named in the lawsuit was a dead bang copy of the f-10 mandolin. although most people think it was the les paul, the destroyer(explorer) or the double neck. it eventually encompassed all gibson designs, and ibanez seeing the way the the wind blew dumped all copies by 1980

  9. Ibanez Musician No Thru Neck
    Enno

I recently got offered a used Ibanez Musician. As I know this guitar from the beginning of the 80ies, when I started playing guitar, I like the idea of buying it (the guy who sells it asks for 300$). But I am a bit confused by the screwed-on neck of this guitar, because I always thought all the Musician Series guitars had a neck thru-body. Anyone who knows more? Does the price sound allright?

    thx,

Why buy a bolt on neck when you can buy mine for $450? Must be an echo in the room. But seriously, you got a see it. It’s an early 80’s neck thru, gold hardware, 24 fret, lemon butter paint on body neck, and headstock, hardshell case, a beauty. Contact James at [email protected] and I’ll send you pics.

Owned one for ten years, at one time had two. Ibanez abandoned them when the rbm models came out. The rg560 is a 550 with a ssh pickup layout. My only criticism is the pickups are two bright.

They were their own entity, however the guitars were "parts" guitars. The bodies were made by ESP. I got one in 1986 (a Superstrat H/S/S style) it was my first electric guitar.

More Info: Most V300 models had a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, However the V320 had a spruce top and rosewood back and sides and the M340 had a spuce top and flamed maple back and sides. The V300 was also available in left hand, model no. V300L.

    2. Re: V300 Accoustic
      Alex Harris

I have since found out that the BS at the end refers to the finish of the guitar i.e. V300 = natural, V300BS = sunbrurst, V300BK = black, V300VL = Voilin finish (whatever that means!!)

      Alex Harris

I Have Just purchaced an Ibanez V300BS accousic guitar and there seems to be a lot of people who own these guitars but cannot find out anything about them. From the research I have done so far, They were made in the late 70’s to early 80’s, you can find the exact date of manufacture stamped on the neck block inside the guitar in yy/mm/dd format i.e. 780714 = 14th July 1974. If the model number has an S at the end i.e. V300BS this means that it is a solid top. Judging by the general appearance of the guitar I would say it was designed to replicate a 1970’s Gibson J50 Deluxe.

      1. Ibanez V300BS
        Hugh Middleborough

I have a Vintage Ibanez Sun Burst V300 that I bought brand new in September of 1979 at a guitar shop in Innisfail in North Queensland 80 kilometres south of Cairns. Its serial number is 790627 which I take it means it was manufactured on the 27th of June 1979 and must have only just arrived in Australia days before I walked into that shop and fell in love with it and decided that I had to have. I can’t remember the price but I feel sure it was somewhere between two and three hundred dollars, probably about $240.00 or $250.00 but it played like a thousand dollar guitar and still does. I don’t play it all that often any more, tending to stick to my electric’s but whenever I take it out of its case I have a great time with still.
Oh I see here in this forum that the BS is supposed to stand for Sunburst, I’m still not sure if that’s the truth but its the best explanation that I’ve been able to find so far.

I also wish I could find out more about it. I had an Artec ASE pick-up installed, with Elixir nanoweb strings – I’m yet to find a guitar that plays so well and sounds so great without costing you both your arms and a leg.

      1. Re: Do you Know Ibanez V310? Yes!
        Cassidy

        Hello Ibanez friends!
I do own an Ibanez V310 as well, BK. I held on to the catalog pamphlet with it and the gorgeous floral model for a long time, alas I no longer have that. As far as technical infos I guess I can’t help. As yours probably says, on the inside it is hand crafted of ‘select woods’, sure the pamphlet identified those, but…
All I can contribute is a bit of its ‘biography’. I bought it new, on October 17th 1982, the day after Bob Weir’s birthday, whose own model electric Ibanez lead my choice (300 and some odd $ at the time). I bought it at the Haight Ashbury Music Store, with my last dollars, the ones I had kept to return ‘home’ to Belgium. I sure never did regret that impulse buy! This guitar not only sounds wonderful (still!) but it travels well too! It has been in the most trying climates, along with me. As in sweltering hot Egypt, Spain, back and forth from CA to Europe a bunch of times, Mexico and so on. It never suffered at all from it! This is really a fine and lasting work of art. Granted, I loved it so much, its wooden case (heavy!!!!) could have taken a beating and the babe in it not suffer the least damage! After all this year it still sounds great, if not better, as the aging wood seems to make the sound even better. I still cherish it to the point where I wouldn’t even (ever) trade it for anything, including food if I was hungry (and I’ve had some hard times!) I guess it’s a love at first time and built to last affair for me!
Nice to talk to folks who have the same model in their care.
Oh.. i never did have a pickup installed in it, though I considered.
Don’t want anything to pierce holes through its body! But that’s just me… romancing the Ibanez!
        Cassidy

        1. Re: Do you Know Ibanez V310? Yes!
          Chaz

I was driving down the street one day about a year ago or so, and stacked outside of a thrift store with a multitude of tables and chairs was an acoustic guitar! I slammed on the brakes and went to check it out. $30.00, and I got it at a discount for $15.00!

It was missing most of the bridge pins, and had a few dings, but that’s nothing but cosmetics.

Turns out it’s an Ibanez V310.

I know nothing about its history, but I assume it’s from the late 70’s or early 80’s due to its great craftsmanship.

It sounds great with the nylon strings I put on it.

I don’t think I’ll ever replace this acoustic guitar.

I don’t know if the "tune-o-matic" was an Ibanez creation or a modification by a luthier. I have recently acquired an Ibanez Jamboree 698 and oddly enough, mine is also fitted with a moustache bridge and holes at the back of the bridge which would have held bridge pins at some point. — This indicates a tune-o-matic or end stop bridge, but the bridge pins have been removed and a tailpiece is also present; the tailpiece holds the strings which merely run over the top of the saddle of the tune-o-matic bridge.

I immediately assumed that the tailpiece must have been added, as the moustache bridge is a standard feature of these J-200 style guitars and was always designed as a "stop" bridge. — Having both a tailpiece and a tune-o-matic bridge is supefluous and makes no sense.

I own 2 Ibanez 698 Concords, dates are from 1978 & 1977. They feature a red sunburst finish, black pickguard with pearloid flower & vine decorations, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany laminate sides & back, laminate spruce top, pearloid crown inlays on the fingerboard, adjustable mustache bridge with pearloid inlays, torch inlay on the headstock in pearloid & the name ‘Ibanez’ in pearloid. My favorite of the two sounds wonderful, loud & warm, very rich & full. Of the 7 acoustics I own it is my favorite, I would never sell it, I have played few guitars that sound as good. It’s great sound is probably a fluke, as these guitars are all laminate construction, but sometimes with these cheaper imitations, on occasion, everything jibes & you get a great sounding instrument. The other sounds good, but does not have the volume & depth of it’s twin. These acoustics are essentially copies of the Gibson J-200’s with a few variations. Anyway, I love these guitars, they are great looking & my favorite of the 2 I own sounds incredible.

Im looking for a Destroyer Three picku model wit a factory kahler pro. I know Phils wasnt the only one out there. I have $2000.00 ready for the anyone who has the real deal. I see alot of people advertising "THE PHIL COLLEN MODEL" Then when I see the guitar it has a floyd style trem or a big bolt hahler trem. I only want the four screw flush mount pro model. There is a kahler that looks loke the pro but its mounted with four big bolts. I dont want this. Remember I ve been looking for a long time so I know a homemade job when I see one.

I just found a v300bk at a pawn shop. Paid $125 for it. I went down to my local music shop and looked it up in the book. I said it sold for $420 new and was worth around $250 used. I think I got a good deal. It’s a sweet guitar and plays very nice. unlike my last girl friend I think I’ll keep this one.

I bought mine new in 1981. The serial number is 801001. It cost me c. £100 together with a plush hard case. I wonder what is the current value?

I bought mine in 1979 in London and I paid £95 including a hard case. I have mine valued in 1998 at £450 replacement value. This woudl pyut in in line with the cheapest martin (DMX?) but I’m convinced it is a better guitar.

I’ve checked and my serial number is 800424 (so it can’t be the date)Those of you who can’t find a serial number mine is on the base of the neck looking through the soundhole. Its a great guitar but does need heavy strings to get it really going. I recommend DR’s. I have had it set up three times in the 25 years I have been playing it.

                Hi Mal,

My Ibanez V300 serial number is 800406, and is stamped on the body brace located above the label inside the guitar. I bought it new at guitar shop in Bakersfield back in 1980. It was a toss up between a Takemine guitar, but I decided to go with the Ibanez and am glad I did. Currently, I’m using Elixir medium gauge strings, but will switch to lighter set on next change over to accomodate my finger-style playing. Did your guitar come with different tuning machines? Mine did and they look like Schallers, instead of the standard Ibanez chrome type. My guitar sounds better with age and I’m very happy with it.

I bought mine new in 1987 (a V300 natural) and the serial number starts with 870706.. what may mean that the first six digits of the serial nr indicate yy/mm/dd. From others I heard that this was somewhere stamped into the neck piece but I cannot find this on mine.

Sounds like we all have the same problem. I purchased my V300 in 1980 or 1981. All I received was the guitar and a cheap case. The guitar however, has been wonderful. Well made and delightful to play. I am still aquainted with the person that originally sold it (new) to me and will see if he can supply any more information regarding the V300 acoustic. Thanks!

        Anonymous

I’ve had my V300BSL (L for left handed) since late 1977 or early 1978. I think it was £120 new at that time. It came with D’Addario EJ16 strings 0.012 and I’ve used nothing else since. It’s had two refrets, once up to 10th fret and once to the 5th fret. Love it. Serial is 791121 so it can’t be the date.

      2. Ibanez V300L
        Willieidle

I have an Ibanez v300 left handed version. I bought it new in 1986 in Auckland New Zealand, and have carried out one modification, putting in a bone saddle. It’s traveled around the world, been battered, bruised, and has a slightly warped neck which causes D chords to play slightly flat sometimes. But the tone is just getting better and better every year, and I would never sell it. Its a very loud guitar, but at the same time has a very mellow tone. I have been using it a lot for slide in recent times, and as with comments on using heavy strings, yep, heavy strings work really well. Every time I look at it or play it it brings back a lot of good memories.

      3. Ibanez V-300 WN
        Malcolm

I bought this guitar new in Hamburg in 1982. I can’t find the receipt although I’m sure it’s here somewhere. Its serial number is 81081781. It was a beautiful walnut guitar until it was recently damaged in storage in a storm. It plays like a dream and sounds fab. I need an insurance estimate for replacement value so if anyone has any ideas I’d be very grateful – cheers, Mal :0)

I have ibanez vintage v300 but it said in the sound hole is 910101 my father gave me this guitar since 1996 i wonder how is the value for my ibanez can somebody tell me???

      5. I have an Ibanez V300 that I’ve had since 1981, when I bought it for $200 off a co-worker looking to raise money for his wedding. It survived several moves, several different climates, and flooding from a major landfalling hurricane. I’ve had electrics come and go, but I’ve never thought about selling this guitar.

In any event, I’ve seen a few other websites that purport to know the meaning behind the serial number. Mine is stamped on the bottom of the neck tenon, so can only be viewed inside the soundhole. It reads 780826 and is apparently the year/month/day of manufacture, so August 26, 1978.

      6. I have an old hand-me-down guitar. It is an Ibanez model V300 stamped as 050146. I have no idea what any of that means or how to find the value. Anybody know how to get that info or know about what it’s worth? Any helpful information is very much appreciated.
