dont knwow what the true value is, but i took mine to a violin/acoust guitar repair specialist to have a pick up fitted. he compared it to the martin guitars he had and said that i would have to spend £700 – £800 to match its quality. thought you would like to know!

I just finished rebuilding a 1963 goldentone and its great I did it myself and would do your guitar as well. depending on the condition of course the guitar if mint condition is wurth about $550.00

E-mail me and well find out what to do about this

      1. Re: 1965 Ibanez Goldentone.
        Tony

Re goldentone prices…the prices mentioned are obscene…these are real Ibanez’ with that great "kitchy’ look and work well…how a 1960’s guitar of any quality could be considered worth even as low as $250 means the collectors of the future are soaking them up now….for mine at $2000 they are better buy than 90 % of anything else….I’d snatch them at the low price…and store them for the not so distantt future when the Fenders and someother are priced out of the average Joe’s pockets…I have even seen a 74 Fender recently go for some ridiculously low price…but thats a $2000 min guitar…cheers tony

: I recently was given an Ibanez Professional Bob Weir model from an Uncle who said he bought it new in the 70’s or early 80’s. I looked it up on different sites. The question I developed after looking at several Bob Weir models is that they are all made of light colored woods and mine is a darker coffee color. My uncle says it came in this finish, and it does look immaculate and untouched. Does anyone know if the Ibanez Bob Weir Model came in woods other than the light maple-like colors I have seen, and if so,were there many or just a couple? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.-S.

saw your msg whilt looking for info on these guitars ones on e-bay for £135.00 ive read cimar were cheaper version of ibanez and they are pretty budget like tuners ect arent great if you get this let me know what you feel about yours

        Dave

I have and Ibanez Blazer and was looking up info on it and noticed the Cimar line of guitars that looked identical to the ibanez. The blazer was basically a strat copy and kept be happy for alot of years. I wouldn’t say it was as good as a good fender squier but it was what I could afford at the time. I paid $300 in 1980 or so. Whether or not the Cimars are the same as the Ibanez’ is another question.

yeah for the price these guitars are awesome i have owned two of them and currently have one they were made by ibanez back in the late eighties thats about all i know anyway hold on to it coz there an excellent guitar (replace the pickups with something half decent tho the originals are pretty noisy thats about it)

  7. Looking for 79-81 Artist semi-hollow, possibly older artist ash solid body
    Todd

I have been looking everywhere for a 79-81 Japanese made Artist 335 style guitar in good structural condition, preferably AS100. If anyone is trying to sell one, let me know! I’d rather not buy something sight unseen, so mid-Atlantic or New England locations would be preferable. I would also consider buying an older carved-top ash solidbody Artist.

don’t know if this is still an active thread, but do you guys still have the same feelings about the 450S? i’ve had one i bought years ago before giving up the dream, and now considering selling but can’t find a thing about it other than “it’s rare” and “keep it”. while i am a sentimentalist and love rare things, i’m also not a collector, so to speak, and if it goes for a grand or more i’d like to sell (near mint condition and beautiful). any thoughts, as the axe remains a mystery online?

  8. early 80's Ibanez AS80, AS100, AS200
    Todd

    Hey folks.
I’m currently looking for an early 80’s Japanese made Ibanez semi-hollow. I’m considering bidding on an ’83 AS80 on eBay. I was wondering if there’s any significant difference in quality between the 80, 100, and 200.
Also, I have gotten the impression through my internet research that Ibanez guitar quality started going downhill in the early 80’s. Would an ’83 likely be of equivalent quality to an ’80 or an ’81?
    Thanks.

      Harold

I made the mistake of buying an Ibanez PR-1660 from e-bay some time ago. I paid a bit over $200.00 for it but what I got was certainly not worth that price. The person who listed the guitar on e-bay must have found it in a pawnshop or a similar place ’cause the guitar was in really bad shape. Dirty beyond belief, rusted strings screws and knobs, traces of rust on the pickups, cracked hardware, etc. It came in a beat-up case w/o any cables not even a strap!

Since I do not have the time to rehabilitate this wreck by myself nor do I know how to do it I was wondering how much it would set me back to take it to a professional to make a guitar out of this mess. On the other hand, would I be better off buying another guitar and selling the Ibanez for whatever amount I can fetch for it, considering the condition in which it is?

    richard Thorne

To all you lovely knowledgeable ibanez guys

I wonder if you would be able to help me track down exactly what model my guitar is and how much it is worth.

I bought it around 3 years ago to start with, I believe I am its 3rd owner and i paid just over £400 for it.

It is a member of the RG family, but i have been unable to find a model number anywhere on its body. I do however have the serial number which is

    F508475

To look at, this guitar is very similar to both the RG470 and the RG550 it has the two double humbuckers for both the neck and bridge with the one single coil pickup in between. the body has a natural finish and it has the usual floyd rose trem system. It has 24 pickups and was made in Japan. I would love to be able to tell you what woods it is made from but to be perfectly honest, i havent got a clue.

the part that confuses me however, is that the hardware on it is all gold (The Tuners on the headstock, the trem system and the volume and tone knobs) the guys at the shop where i purchased it said this was because it was some kind of limited edition – hence the reason why even they could only guess at what it is and how much it is worth

Please could you attempt to value this instrument for me. if you need more information, perhaps you could let me know somewhere on the guitar where there may be a model number (although i have looked everywhere)or perhaps i could get a camera and send you guys a picture.

It was given to my dad by my mom as a wedding gift. I found a website telling me how to date the guitar, but all I know is that it is from February of 1978. It says "Professional" in a script font on the machine head, and it’s a solid body with 2 "humbucker?" pickups. I can play it but dont know much about it. : I picked up this cool looking Ibanez Les Paul from guitar center one day. It is sunburst with gold hardware. It has white pickups and a white pick gaurd, trapezoid inlays. I believe the model number is 2340. The serial number is L761890. Im guessing it is a 1976 model because I went on vintageibanez.com and it was the first of the copies that were listed there. Please give me some information on this beutiful guitar and how much it might be worth.

if it is a fittied neck about 500.00 bolt on 175.00 – 250.00

  13. trying to properly identify and find value of ibanez buckstar
    brett

I have been told by ibanez that the guitar is a 540 b or buckstar . The body is like a telecaster with two humbuckers that read IBZ USA and also a edge locking tremelo. Body is stained and cleared with matching pickguard. was thinking of selling but do not know what it would be worth. guitar is like new . any information would be greatly appreciated.

      Harry

I have an Ibanez Salvador F-hole (Ibanez Century on body)displayed on my loungeroom wall in Sydney Australia. Mine is a bit of a basket case structurally but is complete and looks nice. I obtained it from the family of the guy who used to play it and other guitars in a rock & roll band in the 50’s and early 60’s. I have not seen another. Did you find out any more info??

Have just seen an Ibanez Salvador (on label inside gtr) F-hole, steel string acoustic. It has Ibanez Century printed on the body (just below bridge). Does anyone know anything about these guitars? Dates? Prices? etc. Serial no in 1100’s. Cheers.

  15. Schematics Ibanez Artist 2622
    Patrik

Need the schematics. It’s the one with active preamp; 1-vol, 1-preamp-vol bass, mid, treble and an preamp-switch. Someone has been messing with it and everything works except for the shielding. If I touch the pickup covers it makes a lot of noise, regardless if I touch anything else that is suppoesed to be grounded.

    Regards

Hi, Patrik, I would really appreciate the schematics for an Ibanez Artist EQ, the model with a volume pot and tone pot, plus 3 EQ knobs (treb, mid, bass).

          Thank you!

        Hi Moe

Sorry for the delay (only about a year!!), I’d forgotten I’d posted the question in the first place. Just did another google search for the B660 and my name came up!

Anyway, I don’t have a pic at the moment but I will try and sort one out. The two most discerning features are the large, old electric style headstock (single row of tuners along the top), and a sort of cow horn style of bridge.

        Sound familiar?

        Thanks.

        Paul

Hi Paul! I have an Ibanez B660, which I purchased back in the early ’80’s, for somewhere around $375, plus taxes, CAD.

What does your’s look like? Could you send me a pick? I haven’t heard of anyone who has one.

        Thanks!

I am just trying to find out a retail price on it. It is black with black chrome hardware and has V7 and V8 pickups. All acess neck with a wide strip of bubinga on the back of neck. It is a great guitar I am not to fond of guitars with locking nuts so this RG is really what I like. I am more into Strats and this is is a great super strat style guitar.

      Pete

I have one also. Here’s what I know:
Made in Japan in the late 1970’s. They are made of maple usually. Depending on some of the features(ie not a bolt on neck..stuff like that), the value varies between $200-$600. A big factor is who you sell it to. If you find someone into collecting vintage Ibanezs, youll be able to get more for it.

I am looking for an Ibanez Destroyer II, that is black in color. I had one several years ago and sold it and now I am kicking myself for it. The serial # on my old Ibanez is A850039. I would love to find my old one but would be happy to get one just like it. If you can help, please let me know. Thanks

  18. RG440/Roadstar II/tremolo
    Mike Connell

I have an old roadstar II, it is model RG440 from about 1987. I have stripped the tuning screw on the tremolo and the local Ibanez dealer is telling me that he cannot replace it. Does anybody know where to get the right screw for this thing. If not what type of tremolo should I use to replace the whole thing, I want to make sure that I get the right size if I have to buy a whole new one. Help.

the actual instrument that was the cause of the norlin/gibson suit in 76 was the f-10 mandolin copy. all gibsons were included to stop the copies. as for the value?
fitted neck- about 500.00 in great shape realistically 350.00

I have a black Ibanez LP copy w/gold hardware, it’s a ’74 or a ’76 it also has 3 humbucker pickups. Nobody seems to know anything about these guitars. I haven’t even seen any except for mine. It’s nice to know i’m not the only person with this problem.
