I found a Norati Guitar at a yard sale in the case for $15.00 It was make in Japan waht looks like the early 60’s. It has some inlay wood around the center, and at the top, and has not fret dots. It has a great rich sound to it and in good shape. The markings inside say Mac# 4328, Serial# 23140, Model# 1585 and "sold only by music and arts centers" I notice others nave posted inforamtion about theirs and would like additional information, well add me to the list.
Dad left me a guitar that has to date back to the 1930s in pretty good shape. It says MARWIN and ARTISTE on it? Any help on this?

I have a 6 string acoustic Giulietti Ten-na-lo guitar that has an unusual fret board and key markings at each fret on the purling of the top side of the neck. The guitar can’t be tuned to standard since the fret spacing is not standard…. How do you tune this ? any info. is welcome..
I know it’s an old post, but could you tell me more about this guitar? My email is gtarhunter at a o l dot com. Thanks, Tom C.
I received an e-mail from someone in FLA that said that his father had invented this style of instrument with Julio Giulietti (of accordian fame) but could not tell me anything about it…(like how to tune it or play it…) Since then, I have sold it to an Artist in Lynn MA who has mounted it to a canvas along with some other artistic items and it’s hanging on a wall somewhere near Boston, MA

This popular thread has been given its own page : Vox Folk 12 Electric
I have one very similar if not identical
: I have a wonderful old Vox Folk 12 Electric that I’ve been pounding on since 1967. my guess is that it was made around 1965 (I bought it from a friend ($125) who’d bought it at least second-hand in a Denver pawn shop. it’s a big-body dreadnaught of quilted maple sides and back, spruce top (all aged to a nice amber color), rosewood fretboard and a gloss-black neck made of I-know-not-what. It’s covered with a thick layer of polyester lacquer(?) which is impervious to scratches, but which has cracked in places because it expands at a different rate from the wood it covers. Heavy play for 38 years has done nothing to wear the heavy black-lacquered neck back and tuning head, which has a big “Vox” cut into it in white. It’s got a magnetic pickup mounted at the end of the neck and has black anodized, knurled tone- and volume-control knobs (one each). There’s a ¼-inch phone jack on the bottom side, about the same place jacks are located on Fender P-Basses or Rickenbacker guitars. The only example I’ve seen in photo is on the cover of an old Dave Clark 5 album. I believe it may be the model of 12-string used by John Lennon on the Help album (“You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”). On the back of the peg-head is stamped “Made in Italy by Vox.” I’m wondering if it was built by Eko, or did Vox actually build its own acoustic guitars in the 60s? It’s got a big, wonderful tone and it plays like a dream. Its body shape is identical to an Eko Ranger VI, and the distinctive pickguards are nearly identical. The bridge (ebony?) cracked in two in 1971, and I had it replaced by a rosewood replica carved by a luthier in San Francisco. Later, the neck block cracked in two, and I had it replaced and the neck reset in Oklahoma City by Don Teeter, a certified Martin repair ace and author of several guitar-repair books. It’s got a bolt-on neck with the number 238199 stamped on the mounting plate.

This popular thread has been given its own page : Norati guitar
I also have a Norati. My family purchased it about 15 years ago. I get compliments all the time about how "bright" the guitar sounds. I am also told often how rare it is to see a guitar with a brass saddle and nut. I want to know more!
I have a Norati guitar as well. The model number is 207K and it was purchased in Alexandria, VA. I took lessons at a Music and Arts Center for a short time. Too bad I didn’t keep practicing, but I still have the guitar today. It’s still in excellent condition and I remember it was $200+ at the time.
As someone else said, the Norati brand seems to have been sold only by Music & Arts stores. Mine dates from 1972, bought at a M&A in Alexandria, Virginia. Despite decades of mistreatment (many moves, considerable temperature fluctuations, etc.) it still sounds good, so I guess they’re better made than one might think considering they were made for "instructional purposes".
I have owned a Norati since 1981. I purchased it at a music store in VA. The label says "Sold only by Music and Arts Centers" then would have Mac # Serial # and Model #. I was told by the shop that makes primarily instructional guitars. I know I have received many praises for the sound of my Norati. Sorry, that is all I can provide, cause I have never found any other info on these guitars.
I also have a Norati guitar and I cannot find any info about it. Any info about it would be appreciated. Thanks
I just bought a Norati Guitar at a yard sale for $40.00. Has a really nice tone. Inside says Mac No 8393, Serial No 49271, Model No 1586. Would like to know if I got a deal.
I have purchased a guitar labeled Norati.. It is acoustic w/slightly arched top, brass nut, bridge, and inlay dots..double dots on 7th and 12th fret.old label on inside torn away, but appears to have been brown ink on off white w/log pattern border….is anyone aquainted with this critter…wonderful rich full tone and great resonance..would be nice to know something about it…help on sites with label catalogs etc. I can’t seem to find a thing, tnx much if anyone can help..c.y.
I have a never played Norati Model M-6, MAC 3272 and case. This was purchased as a gift and never played. The adult owner actually got a book to teach themselves but did nothing more than strum it or go through a few pages of the book. So its basically brand new in basic case. Always stored inside climate control. I don’t play so I have no way to judge anything about the sound. I need to get rid of this, any idea where I can find some information about its value?
Thanks

Just picked up a Norati classical guitar today for $15 on Craig’s list. It was dirty with broken steel strings instead of nylon strings. Also had a few broken string capstans on the tuners. Inside label reads: Sold only by Music & Art Centers. Mac No 6469, Serial No 0050, Model No 1586. Took it to Guitar Center and bought new tuners and capstans and nylon strings. This guitar sounds incredible. I will hang onto this one.

Hello People,
Does anybody know how much my 1967 Eko Ranger VI Acoustic Guitar is worth today? If you do not know how much it is worth, do know anybody who could help me. eg. Acoustic Guitar Expert!! etc
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi
Ive had eko’s since 1969 when i got my first ranger 6 ,still have it. Set up properly they are a fantastic guitar, not loud as some people claim, compared to a Loudon or Avalon. I paid £80 pounds for it in 1969, 3 weeks wages for me in those days. Today on ebay a good one with a little wear nothing serious fetches between £80 to £120damaged ones a lot less, I bought one with a few tiny holes and lots of varnish damage recently for £50, but it played sweet! low soft action when set up properly. A mint one can be £200 up. Eko craftsmanship was second to none for massed produced instruments, the wood selection and matureing was enviable. They made all sorts of instruments, banjos , mandolins ,bouzouci, electrics fretless bass acoustics the list is endless ,i have mandolin with a plastic mouded back 19’s pre Ovation plays wonderfull. the factory closed in the seventys and the remains sold off. Brandoni’s in London bought a lot of stuff and i think the DeLouca brothers in America got a lot . Brandoni’s are very helpful and still have a lot of old stock for repairs and rebuilds and can build one for you. Eko stared up again and still make excellant budget instruments I recently bought a used and abused s 300 and after a little work sounds and plays as good as any standard Strat. I have to mention the excellant ranger 12 string an excellant guitar and a good one could fetch £250 a mint one maybe $400. The old glitter electrics change hands around £700 to sky high. Hope this was of use to you.

The EKO Electric Accoustice is a fine Italian made guitar – a few years earlier the EKO Company imported guitars from Yugoslavia. The serial number labels are always initialed by the craftsman, if you are fortunate enough to find one with the serial number tag intact. Many performing musicians are looking for them and the cost can range from $600 and up. They are one of the sturdiest guitars ever made and the only thing that sounds close to them are older Martins. They were staples in studios in the 60’s, you can hear them on a lot of recordings. Take care of that jewel and put good strings on it, I like the Martin strings for the strongest sound.
Enjoy – Rich
I have recently purchased a lefty EKO ranger VI, made in Italy in the ’60s/’70s. Haven’t found any other lefty eko anywhere, seems pretty rare. Does anyone have a clue how much this buddy could be worth?

Hi
I also have a Karl Von Gruner Torres Model Guitar. I bought mine on eBay some years ago. I have been searching for answers since. I have found a site that said it appraised at 500-800 Dollars but don’t know if it’s the same wood. If anyone else can help me find out more info I would be very happy. I will be posting a blog on MySpace called "Antonio De Torres by Karl Von Gruner". It will be a few days yet so don’t go looking for it right away. Todays date is 4-22-2008
I had a guitar by Karl von Grüner, it was my first classical guitar and I bought it around 1972 for about 500 German Marks (250 Euro). I gave it away for nothing to a friend.
