Have a Carlos model 238 in very good to excellent condition if anyone is interested. Email me at the listed email of interested, action is too high for me but sounds good, prefer my Gibson.
I bought a Carlos dreadnote style guitar off Facebook for 75 bucks. Other than being dirty and in need of new strings it was great. I’ve had Taylors and Martins that didn’t play as good or sound as rich as this Korean guitar. I’m simply amazed. It even came with a hard case. I think it’s either a Model 214 or 241. I can’t remember and I’m not near it now. I don’t think I’ll ever sell it because I’ve never had a guitar that I loved so much. Not even my 4500.90 Taylor played as nice. That’s the truth!
We recently acquired a Carlos model 104 made in Brazil. I haven’t been able to locate a mfg year yet. Family says it has to be from mid to late 1950’s. I’m a drummer so I’m oblivious. If anyone has any info on the model 104. Please feel free to tell us anything you know. Thanks!! -Greg
I recently traded am ibanez electric for this carlos

Got a job working at a pawn shop and was asked to clean out an old backroom. found 2 old dusty guitars that had been stripped of hardware, tuners bridge nut etc. They said throw them away or keep them, and i kept them obviously. The one is a classical, smaller sized, its like a toy, the other is a carlos model 209. Never heard of it, Strung it up and bought some cheap tuners and a rosewood bridge, bridgepin, nut and it really sounds great. Just was reading this and wanted to share my carlos story. Any clues what its worth?
I Want to know the value of my carlos 12 string acoustic guitar
Analisa
Hi I have a carlos ( made in korea ) 12 string acoustic guitar bought in 1977 .Its in excellent condition all original.could some one please tell me what its worth? Also is it worth keeping or should I sell it. And if I sell it how much should I sell it for? Thanks
Hello all.
I have a Carlos guitar 249 that unfortunately for me, needs a new home.
I am the original awner, bought it at a guitar shop in CO back in ’81.
It’s been in it’s original hardshell case always and only out to be played a few times.
I am putting it for sale on eBay with plenty of pictures.
After reading all the reviews and coparisons to Martin guitars, I am feeling guilty and sad to let it go, but I still think this guitar needs to be played and appreciated as the fine instrument it is, and not continue to be neglected as it has been for so long.
i have a near mint carlos 438 has a few minor scratches but you have to look for them all original if anyone wants to make an offer you can message me at [email protected] please put CARLOS as the subject!
: I am selling my near mint Carlos #249. It is mohagany in tone from top to bottom. My e-mail is [email protected] for questions. Thank you
i just bought a carlos at auction and got it for $46 dollars it looks like the 248 but i need to see better pictures of the carlos guitars so i can compare. Did I make a great deal?
I have a Carlos Model 207 mde in Korea. Can anyone tell me any info on it. I know that the company is no longer in business. It has a wonderful sound and is in great shape. I am plaaning to sell it and would appreciate info on its value.
I seriously thought I was one of only two Carlos fans in the world (the other being the guy from Marcys Playground). I need more information on the brand. I’m on my second one and it has no model number on it. I love it. The first one I had had a brass nut, i bought it at a garage sale in wisconsin, it was cool but it warpped beyond repair. This one is nice, I’m just upgrading some of it’s parts. I found it in a pawn shop in seattle. I’m looking to collect these awesome guitars. If anyone knows anything about the company or where to buy some more please let us know. Thanks
My dad was given this guitar by a good friend before he passed away in 1982, before that time it was already a few years old. My dad was wanting more information on it like when this guitar was made or what year. and any other info someone might have on it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LBCwGYxN8w
I can find a date stamp that reads "JUL 4 1 8" as best as I can make out anyway. Any idea what year it was made? Please feel free to contact me at skibum8199 at yahoo(dot)com
Also, if you’re looking for pricing on your Carlos guitars, I found this in an eBay auction for one:
"Many companies sprang up in Korea and other Asian countries starting in the late ’60s making quality copies of popular American guitars for the folk/rock music market of the time. The “Carlos” company marketed mid-level copies of the best American models from about 1976 to the late 1980’s, according to The Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide of 2007."
Check out that magazine if you’re serious. I just don’t want to spend the $27 for the magazine since I’m keeping mine. 😀
My old Carlos Guitar - bought from deaf guy 25 years ago
Elliott
Bought my Carlos Model 24QK from a deaf guy in college in 1984. All these years later and playing every day it’s still the best guitar I’ve ever played. Too bad I put stickers on it and banged-it-around w/ little respect till the last few years when trying others, etc. If you can get one cheep – do it – without regard to condition – they’re the best!
I just lucked out and found this model 209. Stored in a garage at a retired guys house. He wanted $75.00 for it with a case. After I got it home and started playing it I was totally amazed that it played and sounded so well. I did’nt see any #209 models in any of the posts?
I have a Carlos 207 that my dad gave me about 20 years ago, he’s passed away now so I can’t find out where he got it or what it is – see it’s a 4-string with a neck and body of a full size guitar. Guitar Center’s telling me it’s a Baritone Ukulele so I’m looking around to see what I can find on it. Any info would be great thanks!!
What you have is a Tenor Guitar. I am looking to purchase such a guitar so if you are interested in selling, contact me. Thanks,Jack

vintaxe.com has Carlos catalog scans online. They ask a $10 donation via paypal for access to their catalogs though. I just got a model 236 and it looks like this is the guitar on the front cover of the 1976 catalog.

I traded this Carlos #242 my wife bought at yard sale for $40 for this Gibson LP Custom at music store. He gave me $850 towards my new purchase. The guitar is made very well. The guy at the store was all over me when I walked in with it. My wife is furious now that I put it up as deposit for my new LP. If I were you I would hang on to your Carlos. There worth more than people are letting on.
I got mine for $44. Local Luthier used to sell them back in the day. Said they sold for about $100 but by todays standards would retail $250’ish. They are all laminate with spruce top and rosewood back and sides. They are the upper model while the 228 is the lower model (about $75 back in the day) for classicals. I ended up trading mine in on a Yamaki 12 string. Looking at a model 210 thats kind of beat up for about $30 now.
I purchased a Carlos Model 240, made in Korea from this yard sale for $20 from an elderly lady. This guitar is made really well. Have been looking everywhere to find out what this model is worth…lol seems like everyone has the problem…Are these worth anything..They play great.

: The price varies, if in decent shape $100-200, if in great shape up to $350. They play great, I would never get rid of my Model No. 240
How do I find out what case to buy for this guitar. I got it from my dad, and he said something about the shape making it difficult to get a case for it? Anyone know? Thanks in advance!
The Carlos mod 240 is a standard dreadnaught size flattop, just look for a molded softbag or hardcase that will accommodate a 40″ length, a 16 inch lower-bout and 4″ depth. Look on craigslist or e-bay for gently-used bargains. Also yardsales, but they’re hit-and-miss and you (I) often do impulse-buys on stuff you don’t (I didn’t) actually need. Good luck, happy playing!
I learned to play on a Carlos 240. I love the sound and how it feels. I would love to buy one of anyone has one available and in good shape, I am definitely interested!!!
I’ve had this guitar for almost 30 years. It is still my go-to guitar. The brand did not have the best reputation, in part because it was Korean made during a time when the best brands were still American made. However, I love the sound! Rich, deep bass with an equally exotic high end. My guitar actually sat in the attic of my parents house for 20 years before I rescued it. I re-glued some of the structure (through the sound hole), restrung it, replaced the tuners and presto! One of the best sounding guitars I own (Fender and Takemine are my other acoustics). They only fetch around $50 but they really are well worth the money. If you find a Korean made version, buy it!
I have a Carlos E240 my mother left me. It is very clean. I know nothing about guitars but found this looking for info on it. How much will you pay for the guitar?
O.K., I have a model E-240 (Electric/Acoustic),that I got in a trade, back in the early ’80s.Does anyone know anything about them? i.e. rarity, value ? This one is in great shape.Everything works, great tone. The pickups are in the fretboard.Any info would be appreciated.N56HD
My Dad left me this guitar a few years ago. I am trying to find out its value. It has a great sound and is excellent condition. Can anyone help me with this?
: Hi, could anyone tell me more about this guitar I have? Are there any sites that I could visit to learn more about my new guitar?
: Thanks a bunch!!!
I have one and it’s like honey.
Like a violin they keep getting better with age. Most of the info I find on them is that the originals were hand-crafted and it seems like the model number we’re in was part of that group. Enjoy it!

I have a Carlos model E241C. it was stamped with the date 11/19/1987. It says "Quality Product of Korea" on the sticker through the hole. It is jet black cutaway acustic/electric. the machine heads seem to be of good quality, in fact the entire guitar seems to be of good quality, possibly even handmade by the looks of the construction.
A day does not pass that i do not pick it up and play, even if only for a brief moment, and it shows, tons of dings, scratches and even a bit of superglue on one corner. the action is a bit high, and the pickup (might just need some cleaning) dosent seem to pick up the bass quite like it should. Otherwise the sound is good. Probably won’t ever get rid of it.
apparently it is somewhat rare, from what i have seen here, and on the rest of the net. somewhere out there, someone has some information on these guitars, and they are holding out on the rest of us. So… if you have any information on the Carlos guitar company we would love to have it.
: Any Inf on a model #236 carlos guitar would be much appreciated, Thanks
i ALSO HAVE A cARLOS GUITAR MADE IN kOREA # 236, i WOULD LIKE TO SELL IT BUT i DON’T HAVE ANY INFORMATION EITHER.
: My boss has a 236 carlos and wanted to know what it’s worth any help would be much appreciated
I purchased a Carlos #236 Nylon String acoustic new in 1989 for $225. It was not the cheapest guitar on the rack, but close. I really like the feel and sound of this guitar, it is my favorite.

Hey there! I’ve been looking to buy used guitars from people, and this lady has a Carlos Guitar Model #228- and she wants $200 for it- would it be worth buying?
I picked up a Carlos model 260. It had a separated bridge which I fixed. I noticed that it has exquisit construction technique. Scalloped bracing the same as a Martin and cleanly done. It also says made in Korea. I have had other Korean Guitars and found them all to be of very high quality and sound. This one has a adjustable bridge which is interesting for a acoustic. Its body style is a dead ringer for a Martin D-28. Spruce top that may be laminate. I must comment that too many people are refurring to lamitaes as plywood as in cheap. These moders laminates are highly engineered for sound reproduction and added strenght. You cannot judge a guitar that sells for under 1000.00 by whether it has laminate construction. Some are excellent. This guitar has the cheapest tuners ever. I tossed them and bought a good set of tarnished ( new but look old )Gotoh gold plated tuners as I thought this color would enhance it looks. I know that this will make all the differance in the world. I have a multi part guitar detail
ing that I have learned from countless guitar details and applied the works to this guitar. It looks awesome and I can’t wait to get the tuners. I will post the end results. Lets start a Carlos club??? It will increase thier visability and value.
i bought my 260 in 1981, it still looks and sounds brand new and is in mint condition. it has proven to be as good or better than the taylor acoustic and fender that i have
I have a 12-string that needs some parts. More specifically a new tuning key bracket that screws into the back of the head. Any help on where to get this part would be great. Thanks in advance.
carlos quality musical instruments Korean or Mexican? 249
Lynn
Hi I have a model 249. Got it at a flea market, it sounds wonderful but needs some repair as it goes out of tune fast. The bridge has been reworked- it was probley lowered.
Years ago, I brought it to a friend who makes guitars and he liked it, said it was an early model and he said it was hand made. I’m not so sure it’s a Korean carlos, he seemed to recognise it and called it a "carlos negros". If I remember right he thought it was an early mexican guitar from a small company. We spent more time looking at his work and I didn’t ask more questions.
Can anyone tell me if this is a steel string guitar? Looks like it but it goes out of tune so fast…
Has a rich mellow sound, with wonderful undertones, better than a gibson and sounds like a martin. Is all dark wood, I think maybe mahogany.
Says "carlos quality musical instruments" on the inside label but the type font is not the same as the Korean carlos logo- unless they later changed it. Looks like an old western or Mexican font. Kind of "scroll-y"
BTW, Possibly just a coincidence, there is a Korean American guitar maker in northhampton (?) ma named Leo Hwang Carlos… ??? Who started his own company but there is little info on it. Maybe I’ll try and write to him.
dont know if youre even still alive to get this but here goes. Thats the exact model i have inside sticker and all. My dad gave it to me for a present and then bought another online. the one he got was different. the inside sticker was the made in korea version and the headstock carlos decal was painted on, mine was a sticker. I have played both and believe that the quality musical instrument one has a richer sound. also i find it to be a better built guitar. The korean sticker one showes an obvious learning curve, whether it was a rookie or the company was hurting for good builders i dont know, one of the fret dots on it was not anywhere near flush with the fret board and the head stock had an obvious point of attachment you could see and feel. mine on the other hand seems to be a single piece neck and head stock. one defect i have noticed that is similar of both guitars is the neck where it goes into the body. from the body to the sound hole it raises slightly and then drops sharply. this can best be seen if you look down all the frets from the bridge to the nut. this causes a little fret buzz which i will eliminate with a file the next time i restring. also i noticed the saddle on the korean one is really low giving almost no angle to the strings on their descent to the bridge. the one my dad has has grooves on the saddle, could be an attempt to lower the action from some owner. mine is decked out with grover tuners and brass bridge pins to complete that beautiful brass sound. I will soon upgrade it with an infinity matrix electric set up. ive heard the korean one and seen similar models on line with that low saddle and im not impressed. whether korean or mexican im keepin my eye our for that quality musical instrument sticker and brass hardwear combo. I dont think there is a more interesting guitar out there and you definitely cant get anywhere near that sound for less than 1000 bucks these days.
Wow, you would think, based on these messages, there would be information out there on Carlos guitars. I have an acoustic 12-string Carlos, model 485. Great sound, but the strings play a bit high. However, I know nothing about the guitar itself. Keep the thread going until someone can find something.
Christina, I think you could bring it to a good repair shop and get the strings lowered fairly inexpensively. By the accounts here it seems it would only make it sound better.
Mine has the cheapest crappiest keys, but such a nice body and sound. My strings have been lowered it looks like and it doesn’t seem to have hurt the sound a bit.
: Can you tell me what this model guitar is worth? I have serial # 014503.
: Thanks

I bought a 238 about 22 years ago when I was going to learn to play. It sat in my closet until just recently when I started to take lessons (after 22 years). When the instructor picked it up to tune it he was blown away by the sound. I wouldn’t know a good guitar from a toy but this guy has been playing for 40 years and he was impressed. Can’t remember what I paid in 1989 but it could not have been a lot. I really like the guitar though and am now sorry I didn’t take the time to really start learning all those years ago. (by the way, the original strings are still on it. wonder if the sound will improve when I change the strings)
I have the same Model(238) I took it to a store the other day to see what it was worth. I thought maybe 50 bucks….when the lady looked it up she said it was worth $250, I put it back in the case and left. It is the best sounding guitar I have heard. I learned to play on it and wanted an upgrade. Its been sitting in the case for 5 years. I pulled it out the other day and put new strings on it. It still has an excellent sound and I have decided to keep mine……Steve

I bought a 238 carlos at a yard sale for $30.00 and I’m trying to find its worth. I love it . Sounds great and well built. I will keep it.
i too have the same Model(238)…not sure if it’s the same serial but I got it a while back when I began playing, say, 10 yrs ago. then switched to electric. now i’m literally pulling it out of the closet 10 yrs later to have it restrung. I’ll check to see what the shop thinks in terms of value but I plan on keeping mine regardless.
I could care less about the name printed on a guitar or what the paper tag says inside the sound hole. What I care about is the sound. String instruments have been around for centuries, long before, made in the USA got stamped on one. However since we are talking about Carlos Guitars, Let’s Talk. The guitar was manufacter by a Korea company that manufactered many different products. Between 1940 and the late 1960’s they built a series of Carlos Guitars, many hand crafted, and using the patents of companies like Martin, Washburn, etc. I recently purchased a Carlos 238 and to be totally honest with you. It’s an outstanding guitar. In comparison to my Alvarez, Aria, and 10 series Washburn, I’d give it a better grade. It feels like my D28 Martin, It looks like my D28 Martin and when I lower the saddle to get my personal feel, I’d bet you it will sound like the martin. Now to answer you question, what’s it worth. Right Now I take $500. I didn’t pay that but that’s what it’s worth. May our world see peace again someday, Goodluck everyone.
OK, I’m jumping into the fray. I just picked up a model 210 acoustic. The action is way too high for me, but I’m starting to appreciate the tone after re-stringing. Anyone know anything about the 210?
Carlos made some fine guitars the 210 is not one of them. Its the cheapest model they made. They made a fine Acoustic Eletric that can hold its own with the best . Look for a tapered headstock not the martin style like the 210

Might as well add my opinion of the 210. I bought mine used some 25 years ago. It has always stayed in tune, has a great recording sound, the neck has NEVER gone out of adjustment! I’ve moved around the U.S. quite a bit in the last 15 years and until recently just kind of thought of it as the used 100 dollar acoustic I bought some years back. But my newer ovation sounds thin compard to the 210. Just because one of the messages says it’s the cheapest model they made, doesn’t made it’s made crappy. Look at Epiphones or the even newer Fender Indonesian made teles, they play just fine. I’ve been a pro. musician for over 35 years and I give my Carlos the thumbs up for longevity and tone.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s I was a guitar salesman and sold Carlos guitars, first as a store manager and then as a wholesaler who sold them to music stores. Back then they were poorly made Korean models that paralleled the Talamine line. The F-307 was the cheapest. Later the Korean shop obtained machines from Takamine but still made them in factories with dirt floors and cheap materials. That improved their quality a great deal – this happened in about 1984. In order to buy the line, a dealer had to buy 72 guitars at one time once per year. They bought 6 (box lot) of any model they wanted. I sold hundreds of them to some dealers. They were OK in the cheap price range after they obtained the Takamine equipment. I haven’t seen new ones for years.
I bought my Carlos 205 from a pawn shop for $80 when I started college in 1999. I learned how to play on him and have owned many different guitars since. He is still my favorite by far. By like a lot, it’s not even close. I would kill to be able to find another, but they seem to have disappeared forever. It’s really sad, it’s such a great, practical guitar.
I have a Carlos 240. I have had it for 35 years and still play it. I have other guitars too but an old friend gave it to me when we were kids and i have had it ever since. I will keep it forever until the day he asks for it back…lol.
Hi my dad bought us both same guitars in 1976 , I am now almost 60, my friend of family has the other one. Dad passed away 25th October 1997. A mellow guitar., lovely .
I bought a Carlos C-950PP3/4 a few days ago from the Dove Hospice 2nd hand shop for nz$35 (US$23.60). The label says hand made in China. It’s a salmon pinky colour. I’ve never heard of Carlos brand. I couldn’t try it out in the shop or compare it with their other old wrecks as none of them had a full set of strings. The body is in perfect condition, just needed a bit of a clean. The tuning nuts are a bit stiff but better stiff than sloppy. I’ve restrung it with D’Addario ProArte Nylon core e745 and it sounds great. The strings are still settling but I don’t think they will slip. A real bargain. Does anyone know anything about this model – when it was made etc?
Hi,
I have a Carlos electric acoustic cutaway EC 326 guitar and would like to find out more about it’s history, today’s value.
I have had it for years, it has a wonderful, beautiful sound. I am not looking to sell, I just can’t find anY information on it.
Wow! I’m way late in this game!!! Hahahahhaha! I have a Carlos Acoustic. Gosh. I don’t know what the wood is. It’s dark. Mine has the brass nut and inlays as well. I bought it with babysitting money when I was 15. Well. I’m one month away from 50, and I still have my “old lady” as I refer to her. I put new strings on her last night as a matter of fact. She still sounds awesome. I was just curious about the makers of Carlos guitars and stumbled upon this blog. I will always keep her. I was really saddened about a year ago, my Daughters cat knocked it off of it’s stand, and it really chipped it good, right on top. Does not affect the sound however, so I’m thankful for that… Well, that’s it! I hope to hear from some of you Carlos peeps! Have a great evening!!
I bought this guitar from a music store in Appleton Wi back in the 70s. It is a great guitar and I still have it. It is made in Korea and I am interested in knowing the present value. Any idwas?
My folks bought me a Carlos model 210 made in Korea when I was in Jr. High for music class.
My father had told me that it was made with Rose Wood. It also came with an Allen wrench so you could ajust the neck. I still have it, it plays great and I am 56 yrs. old now.
I am glad to have found this site.
I literally picked this guitar out of the garbage! Carlos 210 1979 acoustic folk guitar.
New Martin light gauge strings and a good cleaning and I have a little beauty.
Sounds great. Stays in tune ….What a find!
I found an old Carlos while working for a rafting company in North Carolina. Found it in an old cabin with a storage space above bunk. It is the 207FK made in Korea. It’s the folk 6 string. This thing sounds as good as any guitar out there. It also has a brass nut. I think it was made in the early 80’s. Any one know what they are worth? I’ve heard between $500 and $1200 just for their rarity.
Hi, just wondering if the one who posted that he sold Carlos guitars will see this post and know something about my Carlos guitar, or if anyone else does.
I am trying to find a date for when my guitar was made.
Well I must say this Carlos guitar I bought blows me away. Sounds like a Martin D-45, big brassy sound, well balanced. Of course when talking about how good guitars sound it’s important to realize that any guitar, no matter how good it is can have many different sounds. Just today a friend came over, an old folkie who used to own his own a music store and sold Carlos guitars and many other guitars imported by Coast Wholesale, and we played this axe with 2 different flat picks. Of course the guitar produced 3 different timbres. So the point is that even something as simple as the type of pick has a lot to due with how a guitar sounds (people argue all the time about what the best pick is, let alone what guitar is best). This model 210 is the killer bluegrass guitar, awesome neck, hand made bridge, all in all a well made guitar and a steal for the price.
I have been playing and performing for over 40 years, I have several killer guitars of the high-end brand group but I always amazed when makers like Carlos, Yamaha, Ventura etc. make these killer sounding guitars for such little money….not everyone can fork out 2-3 grand for some handmade copy of a Martin or a Vintage martin reissue. I have played expensive guitars that can’t come close to what this guitar sounds like!
Well, this forum was quite interesting. I’ve had a Carlos model no 210 since 1979 when i went to the music store with my mother to purchase one for a class in school. I was just cruising around the web and thought i would do a search and found out that they are quite rare…but maybe not, as I have seen a lot of model no.s mentioned. Now I remember paying quite a bit more than 100$ for mine and we had to actually set up a payment kind of thing. I think that the total with case was about around 250,but then again that was quite a while ago and I’m sure that I don’t have any reciepts from then..lol I have always gotten comments about its look and sound and I have to say that it has gotten even better with age. The materials that this one is made are of rather high quality. the neck is mohagany and back and main body of rosewood as is the fretboard also. The top is of spruce and head mohagany with rosewood laminat. since I’ve had it the bridge has had to be reglued down some 15 years ago and I replace the tuning machines about 8 years ago and have had nothing but pleasure since. It’s good to see all of you out there playing around and enjoying these instruments and that’s what they’re for….so play on!
I just picked up this carols guitar at a pawn shop for $20. not $200 not $500. it is the best sounding guitar i have ever played on and i have hit shops that had $2500 guitars that don’t sound this good. i also had the same problem so i took the string off and adjusted the neck and tightened it with an aliens wrench and fixed the problem because it was so loose i could move it with my fingers. it was hard as fuck to play now its perfect and has no buzzing to the strings like cheap ass or new crap that is shit that cost to much and plays like shit. keep it if they don’t pay more than what its worth as sound quality is because it is priceless
How crazy is this mystery guitar?!? My mom bought me a carlos guitar for my 16th birthday. I’m now 28 and still have it and have never found any info on it. The action is to high on mine also so I have a hard time playing it but it’s a great instrument. Any info…let me know PLEASE.
I have a model 438, made in korea. It doesn’t have a date, or I can’t find it. Anyone know the value of this guitar, or when it might have been made? It was probably made after 1980 since the 207’s, etc were in the 80’s.
I just thought i’d let you guys know that i own a model No. 249, it’s my favorite guitar, i’ve been playing for a while and own several different makes, models, and types of guitars. It’s in very good condition, and has an amazing sound. i have know knowledge of them to your dismay. all i know is my dad got it from his brother who bought it in korea.
I bought a Mod. 249 from a pawn shop in 1995 for $150.00. I lowered the action and it plays really nice. The sound of this guitar is beautiful…I was surprised actually. Can’t find anything on the manufacturer. It would have been a complete mystery if it weren’t for this page. It has a few dings and someone etched their names on the back of it up towards the neck so I sanded it down. Have not decided on how to restore it yet, but I know the machines have already been replaced. It’s definitely a keeper.
I have had a pair of these so-called guitars. The fingerboards wore out so fast that a local lutier told me he thought they might be made of old orange crates. They got so bad in just a few months that they would bend the strings and un-tune any notes or chords I would play. I thought I had lost my ear for notes and tuning. Esthetically, they are pleasant-enough guitars, but they just wear out too fast. All they are good for now is wall hangings or something to throw in a bar fight.
Hi, I recently purchased a Carlos Guitar with the serial number 014885; Model number 207. I would like more info on the value of the guitar; I found it in a thrift store. Wher might I find this information. It is in excellent shape.
I just picked up a Carlos. Plays nice and sounds good. Mine has a cutaway, date inside says 1982. The label is half missing inside and I don’t see any other indication of the model number. Anyone else have one of these with a cutaway? If so, do you know what the model number is? This guitar has a mohagony body with bookmatched back and a solid spruce top.

: Can some one who owns a m0del 249 please let me hear from you. I just bought one a few days ago.I love it! Thanks! Sammy
I have had mine for 20 years, and of all the guitar I have owned and played, it remains my favorite. It has all the bumps and bruises to prove it! It wasnt’t the most expensive or most famous brand, but it certainly is a fine instrument! I’ll never get rid of it, and may even be buried with it… It’s been with me longer than my wife, and truly was my first love, to my wife’s dismay!
: I have owned the same one since I was 18 years old. I am now 41 and just will never get rid of it. It has the best sound of any guitar I have owned. I love mine too.
I have had mine for about four years. My dad got in a pawn shop for $100. It is the best sounding and playing acoustic I have had, and Dad has a Martin. I’ve been playing since I was a kid (I am 34 now), and I will never part with this guitar.

I too have a Carlos Acoustic/Electric made in Korea. It was given to me in the mid to late eighties. From what I understand from the Music store owner that it came from they are hand made, and a subsidiary company of Takamine. Or at least they were in the eighties. It has a great sound and action. I don’t know which model it is nor do I care. I have been a sound engineer for over 14 years and tone means everything to me. This guitar has never let me down. Don’t let yours go if you can help it.

Thanks!! -Greg

Excellant condition looks used but well kept. Would like to know the value. I seem to collect or rescue guitars in need of a good home. Thanks, Eloy
Hi I have a carlos ( made in korea ) 12 string acoustic guitar bought in 1977 .Its in excellent condition all original.could some one please tell me what its worth? Also is it worth keeping or should I sell it. And if I sell it how much should I sell it for? Thanks
PERFECT CONDITION CAN I GET A ESTIMATE ?
After reading all the reviews and coparisons to Martin guitars, I am feeling guilty and sad to let it go, but I still think this guitar needs to be played and appreciated as the fine instrument it is, and not continue to be neglected as it has been for so long.
do you still have this guitar and what are you asking?
i have a near mint carlos 438 has a few minor scratches but you have to look for them all original if anyone wants to make an offer you can message me at [email protected] please put CARLOS as the subject!
I am selling my near mint Carlos #249.

Thank You,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LBCwGYxN8w
looking for info on recently acquired Carlos guitar model CN-8

I’m in the market for one for these guitars. Please email me if you have one available
I have one for sale. It has only been played a few times. Still has the sticker with number g162
I have a Carlos 240k I’m looking to sell!
Are you still in the market for a Carlos E240 Guitar? I have one I am looking to sell.
Are you still selling it? What would you want for it?
If it is a genuine Carlos from the 1980’s I’d pay $100 plus shipping. As long as everything is in good condition.
I have one I will sell if your still looking.

I have one and it’s like honey.
Like a violin they keep getting better with age. Most of the info I find on them is that the originals were hand-crafted and it seems like the model number we’re in was part of that group. Enjoy it!

I have a carlos Guitar and it has a grate sound. I play a martin for my churches band because it has a pickup, but my Carlos sounds just as good.
Thanks, Russ

(originally posted 14:59:33 12/18/05)
Jon
Can you tell me what this model guitar is worth? I have serial # 014503.
Thanks
Joe

I bought a 238 about 22 years ago when I was going to learn to play. It sat in my closet until just recently when I started to take lessons (after 22 years). When the instructor picked it up to tune it he was blown away by the sound. I wouldn’t know a good guitar from a toy but this guy has been playing for 40 years and he was impressed. Can’t remember what I paid in 1989 but it could not have been a lot. I really like the guitar though and am now sorry I didn’t take the time to really start learning all those years ago. (by the way, the original strings are still on it. wonder if the sound will improve when I change the strings)
i would really like some info on the model 238. specs? hardware? wood used? anything? much appreciated, thanks.

Look for a tapered headstock not the martin style like the 210
: Carlos made some fine guitars the 210 is one of them. Its the greatest model they made yet . They made a fine Acoustic Eletric that can hold its own with the best one to .

This popular thread has been given its own page : carlos guitars
Bought a Carlos tenor for 65 bucks about a year ago. Brass nut and bridge. Changed out for a bone bridge. Sounds great!
Picking up a Carlos Tenor this afternoon. Hoping it sounds and plays well.
I would like to know everything about my model 226 serial no. 043464. It was my deceased father’s
Carlos guitar model no. 228
Serial no. 037354
Would gladly like to know how much this guitar costs nowadays?
I bought my Carlos 205 from a pawn shop for $80 when I started college in 1999. I learned how to play on him and have owned many different guitars since. He is still my favorite by far. By like a lot, it’s not even close. I would kill to be able to find another, but they seem to have disappeared forever. It’s really sad, it’s such a great, practical guitar.
Hey Noah
I have what you are looking for – or maybe you have found one already.
I am in Norfolk UK
Just bought an E438 electric/acoustic for 50 bucks. Anyone have any info on this model?
I bought an electric/acoustic E438 last month also for 50 bucks. Put new strings on it and it sounds so good. Electronics work like a new one
I have a Carlos CN-8 acoustic that I’d like to sell to a student. Any idea what it’s worth?
My wife has a Model 240c and it plays really nice. It has wonderful deep tone. I like it for a low end guitar. Does anyone know about this model?
I have a model 240K. I think it’s mid 70s it is a great sounding guitar. Killer craftsmanship ,brass nut bridge inlays
Hi, just wondering if the one who posted that he sold Carlos guitars will see this post and know something about my Carlos guitar, or if anyone else does.
I am trying to find a date for when my guitar was made.
Carlos Acoustic Guitar
Model CA40-B
Serial No 022164
I have it listed here with photos: http://www.guitar-museum.com/guitar-101509-CA40-B
I wouldn’t sell it, so I do not care too much about its value. Curious about value, but really want to know when it was made.
Thanks!
Sorry for the typos on my review of the model 210. Should be “and we played the axe with 3 different flat picks.” not 2.
Do you want to sell it?
I am looking to replace one. If so what is the condition and price?
i am also looking for a 438
: i am also looking for a 438
Still looking for a model 438? I have one I’d consider selling.
All they are good for now is wall hangings or something to throw in a bar fight.

i have a carlos 240k acustic.my mom had it when she was lil and now gave it to me,i was wondering if it is a cheepy or a classic?
I just picked up a Carlos. Plays nice and sounds good. Mine has a cutaway, date inside says 1982. The label is half missing inside and I don’t see any other indication of the model number. Anyone else have one of these with a cutaway? If so, do you know what the model number is? This guitar has a mohagony body with bookmatched back and a solid spruce top.
