      there wouldn’t be a pick guard on a classical guitar…you don’t use a pick
: There are some unique features. I believe the frets are brass. There are no dots on the top between the frets but there are 5 on the side

              Dee

Hi. I’m so glad you posted this, albeit a decade ago. I have an AWN 90 that I picked up at an Estate Sale last year. I already had the Savona SN20 which made it possible for me to quickly identify this guitar as it’s piping and rosette are identical. It’s only other markings are the AWN 90 Stamped on the inside with the words Made in Brazil. Were you able to find any more information on yours? Dee

I also have this guitar, my grandfather gave it to me several years ago. It has an amazing sound, and I am in love with it. It has been hard for me to find the perfect strings for the instrument though, I have been using Savarez High Tension Nylons, but I might need to find something with a lighter tension. I’ve seen a posting on craigslist boasting a $2,500 dollar sale as well. The instrument is priceless to me, but perhaps it is valid information elsewhere. If anyone finds any more history, please do post!

I own one of these, also saw some speculated hype about the value of the guitar and had it appraised. I took it to Gruhn’s Guitars in Nashville, one of the nation’s most well-regarded appraisers of stringed instruments, where I was told that "it has many interesting features, but is not a ‘valuable’ instrument." Mine has a production date of May 1974, brass frets, and in near mint condition. Sorry for the disappointing financial news, but the key thing is that you have a great instrument and many people can’t even say that much.

      1. I bought my Savona model
        Tom

I bought my Savona model AWN20 new in 1975. For its age it is in good shape, and I still enjoy playing it. I bought it to save wear and tear on my Ovation Balladeer that was new in 1968. I sold the Balladeer back to an executive at Ovation, as he wanted one with the three-panel front, over adecade ago. I have always preferred the Savona because for its size it has a nice rich sound. I know nothing abour Brazilian made guitars, but I like mine still.

      2. i also own a Savona Awn 20

Hello. I see you also have a Savona AWN20. I am having extreme difficulty trying to find out anything about it. The woods used, the value, etc.
Have you been able to acquire any information about it? I have read that it was made by Ginannini, though im not fully certain. Any information you
can tell me would be greatly appreciated.

I check this guitar out and only a limited amount were made due to the cost of the brazilian wood this guitar is probably like 30-40 years old since its actual release and only a couple hundred were made, i would say it is a very rare keep and may be worth a lot some day now i would estimate the value of the guitar at about $2,500 dollars if it is in good condition, hope this helps

I am a non proffessional 50 years old Israeli guitarist. I have been playing guitar since almost 35 years. I am crazy
about Brazilian Bossa Nova style ( but also some soft jazz ) music. Of course, I believe that Tom Jobim is the genius God
of this music. I like to play every good song ( even some well known jazz master pieces and others, for example – Misty ) wity Bossa Nova
tempo !. I don’t play with other non proffessional musicians, becouse It is not easy to find others " lovers " of this music.
I would like to know if there are other crazy guitarists with this kind of "sickness " and contact them. Sorry for my
    bad English !

Hi. I had virtually given up the guitar for 10 years of child rearing, etc. Then I decided to learn the music of Jobim, and I take the guitar everywhere I go!
I have so far translated into english 10 Jobim songs. Most I’ve found no other translations for, some I didn’t like the available translations. Visit my website to hear some examples, although I ask your forgiveness in advance for the amatuer quality of my playing! http://homepage.mac.com/sonnenberg/jobim
