  5. '87 Charvel model 6/ info about serial number
    Ben

I have a 1987 Charvel model 6. It’s my main guitar I gig with and is the best guitar I’ve played in my 22 years of playing. I’ ve been trying to research it and no results due to there being no records of the model 6 from the Chu Shin Gakki shop in Japan that is now closed. I’ve even contacted Jackson/Charvel and they told me that there is no information on my 6 at all. Anyone have any info? How about an old employees from the Chu Shin Gakki facility in Japan?

  7. Old, Original Charvel?
    Dean

Was wondering if anyone could tell me… I have a guitar that I bought from a friend who says that he bought a charvel “kit” guitar at a place called Red’s music. There are no logos, serial number, no markings at all on the body or neck that I can see. It is a strat headstock, had a skunk stripe, and the 12th fret markers are close together. Original Floyd (the one with fine tuners, not the really old one) all tuning keys, and jack plate are correct, but chrome, not brass. Routing for control cavity look correct. Pots don’t have any markings, but there looks like there is some solder smeared over the back of them, so there may be something there I can’t see. There was never a professional finish on the guitar, just amateur. Neck is unfinished. I don’t know what type of pickup is on it. I have owned it since 1988 or 1989. Any idea what the deal is with it? Thanks for any input.

Hi, All guitars with a Fort Worth neckplate are made in Japan & Fort Worth was the import location for the Japan made axes. Still a very nice axe.

  10. Charvel/Jackson CH-600SC amp
    Anonymous

I have had this amp for almost 2 years – best or second best combo amp I have ever had out of Unknown 2x 12″ I had as a teen, Fender Princeton 1997 or so, Marshall Valvestate etc.

Just talking about it for interest sake, don’t see a place to post pics, don’t have a wiring diagram, don’t know much about it other than it is worth double to me what I paid for it (or more), heavy as hell, loud as hell, has a kind of annoying hum but I play loud as possible so I don’t care.

It has a ton of features for something from the eighties/nineties??

I only bought it as I had a newer So-Cal MIJ and it was in so nice of condition I thought it was newer and made a good mate for my Charvel guitar.

The guy that sold it to me didn’t say where he got it, I found it funny he was parting with it despite being the owner of a brand new So-Cal MIJ and the new amp he had was a smaller, tinny, solid state that didn’t do anything for me – but to each his own.

    Peace

It’s a neat little amp, they must not have made many of these.. Not much info on them. The thing feels like it could take a serious beating and still work. really nest little amp.

  11. Identification help
    Dennis

I just purchased a couple used Jackson Guitars in mint shape. I have the serial numbers and was wondering if someone would be able to assist me in identifying the model and year as well as any other info that might be had.

Jackson 65003887 (Printed on what looks like a white label, I was told it is a Performer PS-4), but it is not marked anywhere as such. Color Dark Metallic Blue.

Jackson 200710339 (stamped in a metal plate, I was told it is a Performer PS-2), this one really looks like the Dinky JS 20 to me. Color Dark Metallic Blue.

The guy believes that they are from the mid to late 1990’s but couldn’t find any paperwork or his receipts. It would be really nice to know all I can on these.

I Found a little information on the model 250 but none on 250 b and the model 250 did not have the floyd rose tremlo bridge and had a 3 pos switch instead of a 5. ITs a 22 fret looks like mother of pearl inlay on a rosewood fingerboard .it has CHarvel by jackson/charvel pickups 2 singles one double a tone and volume knob and a 5 position switch. It also has a Floyd rose tremlo bridge and the string locks that you tighten with allen wrenches the serial number is 9081179it has a silver plaque on the back of the guitar with the seial number then po box2344 ft worth tx 76113 usa and a sticker on the neck that says model 250 b the tuning keys are all charvel. The charvel model 4 guitars had a ft worth neck plate and are considered to be one of the best imported guitars ever made any information would be greatly appreciated.

  18. Charvel Model 4 Pickup wiring schematics
    rafe samonte

Hi there, I was wondering if you know where I can find Charvel/Jackson Model 4 Pickup wiring schematics on the internet?

    Thanks- Rafe

    1. Model 4 wiring
      Anonymous

Hi Rafe, it’s a piece of cake. You should have a Jackson JE-1200 mid-boost circuit in which the volume pot is attached. Needs a 9V battery. There are 3 toggle switches one for each pup. The toggle switches are on/on. Each pup needs the hot pickup wire soldered to the outside tip of it’s corresponding switch. There is a wire on the JE-1200 that is attached to the center of the 1st switch. Solder a wire from the center of the 1st switch to the center of the other 2 switches. That takes care of the pups. You need to use a stereo output jack because the battery ground wire is attached to the ground of the jack. When a cable is plugged in it makes ground to the battery which powers the JE-1200. The JE-1200 normally is completely wired with volume, tone & mid-boost level pots. I’ve probably wired & rebuilt 20 Model 4, 5, 6, & 475’s. I still have a few JE-1200’s here. I have the Jackson tech manual which shows the JE-1200 wiring & 2 pictures of an actual Model 4 wired with the module & switches out of the control cavity. Send me an email & I can send you the info. Dave

      1. Thanks Dave!
        Rafe Samonte

Hey Dave, just now saw your response. I actually had a shop overseas build a new replicated JE-1200 and complete wiring with pots and switches. My model 4 was just in poor shape and glad I found this custom replacement. Thanks for your response though. I spent like $450 for a complete electronics set-up utilizing the original pickups 🙂

  22. Jackson USA made in 1990
    Joe

Ok, I’ve got this Jackson USA body and neck..had em forever. They are separated and all the parts have been stolen years ago. I know originally it had a custom paint job, a girl in a bikini laying on the beach..been sanded down since and has a green wood stained face. Anyways, since not having any neck plate with a serial number, all I have to go with are some markings underneath the neck. On the body where the neck goes its stamped USA-8, date written in 10/22/90, also written in pen is H6 ( I believe) and a straight faced smiley dude. At the base of the neck is stamped FUS. Also looks like a signature in black marker under the back tremelo spring plate. Pic links below.
Anyways if there is anything anyone can tell me about this guitar, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I’d like to know the best way to obtain the correct parts to piece it together.

    1. Re: This popular thread has been given its own page :... Bob
      Bob

I love this bass. I bought it new in Albany NY in ’85, ser # J1508. It is fire engine red neck thru. I believe it was called a student model for it did not have shark fin inlays, just dots on a rosewood neck. Originally it had piezo pickups built in the bridge but had to be sent back to Cali a year later. Unfortunately the piezos were a callback for defect and the bass was routed for p/j standard jackson pickups. I still play it often and is the best bass out of many I’ve owned over the years. Anyone have an idea what it could be worth ballpark in good condition? I also own another JCCB ordered custom new in Rochester NY ’91 ser.# 5238 metallic black. Any info on either of these would be appreciated.
