: Vintage Joe Maphis Mosrite 12-over-6 guitar with hardshell case. Purchased new by myself sometime around 1966. Recently had the bridges aligned (new strings) and necks checked for warping by a local musician/teacher/guitar-collector. Some checking in the paint and a few other ‘character’ nicks as one might expect with a 44-year old musical instrument. Played very little. Case does not have keys. Guitar serial number: 2J013

      Price? Thanks!

  3. what kind of guitars?
    Sam

I’m looking for some decent guitars for my friend, but my budget is limited ( $150 at most ). I was wondering if you had any nice guitars for that much, give or take a little. I’d really appreciate it, if not, could you give me some advice for finding one in good condition for kinda cheap. You’d be a big help.
    Thanks

RE: I have a Rick Model 481. Manufactured 1975. I need to find some parts for it, preferably original. I need a pickguard, white, mine is black and is cracked. It was replaced and the original white one is gone! I would also like to know if the original pick ups are still available. I’m not sure if the ones in mine are original Humbuckers or not. Someone’s been inside messing with the wiring. I’ve got a bad 60 cycle hum, and 1 wire off, that I can’t find were it goes. And the wining doesn’t look at all like the wiring diagram I got off the rickenbacker website. I’m also missing the bridge cover, but I think that is still available from Rickenbacker. Any ideas on where i might locate some parts for my Rick?

To see the date, you have to remove the neck. All of my Mosrites have it’s date stamped at the body end of the neck, and on the body where the neck is bolted on. You may also find the date on the underside of the pick guard.
As for value, Mosrite basses don’t command near the interest as the guitars. Check eBay, there are Mosrites there all the time.
I have two Mosrite basses, they are the nicest playing basses my short stubby fingers have had. Let me know what offers you get.

        Jerry Pace

I have a Mosrite, made sometime in the 60’s. The re-issue
models are made in Japan, but they are still quality guitars. Mine has Seme Mosley USA and mosrite on each individual piece. It is sunburst with natural neck. The re-issue models are going for $1700.00 to $3000.00 and more, depending on the model. I don’t know the value of originals like mine but it should be quite a bit more than the Japan models. I don’t know anything about a bass, never owned one.
I took mine into a music store, after looking at all the Fenders, Gibsons and Taylors and others, I left with my Mosrite. He tried to get me to price it but I wouldn’t.
Where would I start? Wish someone would put something on the net about original Mosrites and their value. Thanks.
