Hi I was wondering how much a Takamine guitar model: NP-18 C (cut away)
is worth on the market right now. A friend of mine is offering me this deal on his Takamine NP-18 C and ask 1,0000 (canadian dollards) for it.
Saying also that this guitar is worth much more money!!!
I am trying to find out if it's worth a 1,0000 bucks or is this friend trying to pull a fast one on me.
Thanks for ansewring.

takamine NP-18C

I love mine. Sounds great with medium strings (Dean Markley's). Plugging it in is a real treat. The action is unparalleled. It's important to adjust the neck when switching the gauge of strings. Keeps in tune very well. I love it when someone else plays my guitar, even when I'm in another room. I always think, WOW, what a cool sounding guitar, and it's mine! Great for bluegrass, even with the cut-out. Must be the spruce top.

Re: takamine np-18 c

I have seen NP-18c's in good shape go for $300 to $600 USD on eBay in the last 6 months, so if you're patient you might be able to scoop one up for less. I own one that I played for years, but I recently got a Gibson Hummingbird so the Tak hasn't left the case for a few months. I thought about selling it when I got the 'bird, but I saw how little they were going for so decided to keep it as a traveling guitar. On the plus side, it has a nice fast neck, smooth ebony fingerboard, great electronics if you play plugged in and looks sweeeet. It's main drawbacks are that it sounds good but not great played acoustically because of the laminated back and sides. It really needs med gauge strings to sound good so it can be a workout on the hands. If you're looking for a great sounding acoustic there are way better options w/solid back and sides for what your friend is asking for the NP-18c. (Guild D40C comes to mind or you could probably get a nice used Taylor, although I'm not a big fan of Taylors).
Cheers, Jimmyd

Hey: I own a NP-18C It is by far the best soundin guitar I have ever owned It is owned and played by some of the best american and english musicians in the world like Garth Brooks, Phil Collins/Genisis/ Keney Chesney, Brad Paisley and many many more it was made from 1990-1996 and only limited runs each year it listed at 2199.00 american and is worth 5 times now as he is asking for it I say take it before he changes his mind!!!

Tak NP-18C

The Takamine NP 19C is one of the best kept secrets in their historical
Lineup. Produced and only short runs, this guitar quickly became very popular among professional musicians everywhere.
The original MSRP for this particular unit, was set at 2199. Today this guitar is a very hard fine, and when it is, if in good condition can sell for as high as $3-$4000. Today if in very clean condition with the original hardshell case, it can demand upwards of $5000. Garth Brooks recently purchased one of these At auction for $5750, and it was in good condition only. Guitar collectors around the world are scrambling to find these because they are so rare. The market is anticipating these guitars will no longer be available within the next five years.

Pricing for a Takamine NP 18 C guitar

Well what I have read on this guitar is a number of years old. It is now 2011 and I would like to know what a Takamine NP 18 C guitar is worth now days. The guitar has been played maybe 3 or 4 times, comes with a factory hard shell case. Thanks, JJ

Takamine NP18C Value

IMHO depending on market /economy fluctuation, Play wear as well as cosmetic condition these guitars are marketable in the range of $750 to $2500, I understand Garth Brooks played these often & he just payed $5000 for one in , well OK condition. Still these guitars are well kept sleeper secrets. Not that many where sold with a list price of over $2,000 and retailing out the door for $1500.
Many players where reluctant to pay that much for a Takamine. Up till then their guitars were more midline priced. In retrospect, those who did have a good eye & feel for quality performing instruments. They are coveted and for good reason. WHen you look at videos you will note that most players seen with this Natural line form Takamine are celebrity players or those quintessential Pros playing in support of them.
I don't think there is a company out there selling a contemporary guitar in the $2000 range that comes close to the tone / playability & performance of the NP18C. I've owned in excess of 300 acoustics but thats one man's opinion.
