From what I know, Aria seem to date their guitars as follows:
The first two digits are the year of manufacture, the second two are the week of manufacture.
Therefore we can surmise that your guitar was manufactured on the 23rd week of 1996.
Aria ES335 copies are lovely. I got mine for €60. Great guitar for that price, but of course it will never be a Gibson original!!

        Anonymous

That’s not true about the serial number and year. I checked my dad’s 5502N Aria after reading this and the first two of the serial number are 96. I was playing it in 1989.

      1. Aria 5502N
        Richard

I too am having trouble dating my guitar. Also has a 96 starting serial number. 6 digits total. I know I purchased it used around ’73-’74. If the web is correct about the first number being the year that would make it 1969. Good luck.

      2. Charvel 81 no serial number. 1981
        Wolfy

I have a charvel 1981 with no serial number. 1981 date is written in pencil on the neck and pocket. Has 2 humbuckers and floyd rose. I bought it at guitar center in Hollywood in 1981. Any idea of the value? It is in excellent condition

      3. aria 5502N
        jeffjones

I have a 5502N with the serial no 362273. The guitar was given to me in the early 90s. My father in law had it in pieces attempting to learn more about guitar construction. I reassembled it last year. I guess its from late sixties early 70s. I would appreciate any info?? thanks

      4. I HAVE AN ARIA GUITAR MODEL 5502N WHICH ARIA SAYS THEY DON’T MAKE. I DO KNOW THAT THE N STANDS FOR NATURAL COLOR, OTHER 5502 ARE DIFERENT COLORS. IF ANY ONE HAS MORE INFO I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU THANKS ROY

I finally found you, are ya still building your guitars, or spending a lot of time marketing your cachet game. It would be great to talk to you again, isn’t it amazing how time flies by when you grow older, grey hair and all, well I guess that’s why they invented hair dye (laugh). I’m sure I’ll be searching for colors soon… It would be nice to hang out someday, thank you for your support through all the crazy days, and nights…
    Take care

  3. bridgecraft acoustic electric
    Mark

I just traded in an Ibanez acoustic electric PF with severe body damage made in 2003 for a flawless used bridgecraft acoustic electric with a hand written model number that I cannot seem to find anywhere. I cant find bridgecraft ac/el anywhere to find out how much it is worth…I had a few places tell me my ibanez was worth around $50 a couple years ago and the guy gave me an even trade while he had it marked at $125. does anyone know what a bridgecraft ac/el with model number AW-700G goes for? or what year it is from? Im happy with the new trade, but its fun to knnow how good of a trade I got out of it and know how old it is. Bridgecraft doesnt have a site that I know of but I can only find drumsets made by them and fender strat lookalikes. Gimme a hollar if you know the year or another approxamate apraisal cuz the guy I got it for didnt know anything about the guitar.
    thanks,
    Mark

  9. Abel Axe do not manufacture much
    Christian

I know Jim and Jeff Abel, the makers of Abel Axe pretty well and they don’t make Abel Axes as much as they used to. You can call them at (307)-789-8049 and ask them for details in making you one, but you gotta be able to fork out the cash for them, because they might be around $1500, a little more than they used to be when they produced them widely. I have an Abel Axe myself, which was given to me by the Abels as a gift, and I tell you, if I had to spend $1500 on one, I would do it in a heartbeat. If you want to ask them questions, call their number, but even if you leave a message, they more than likely won’t get back to you, because they are awfully busy with many other business ideas like the long dead Ketch-it toys and some fishing rod or whatever.

    1. Re: Abel Axe
      Todd H

I just finished speaking with Jeff Abel, he informed me that there has been a Big demand for the Abel Axe guitars. Jeff has been Very Bussy with his other business but is producing the Abel Axe guitars on a very limited basis.

The guitars are all one off custom pieces. You get to choose the color, and the pick-ups. The necks are Warmouth, and they come with Sperzal tuning machines. Initially the bodies are the slotted style. All guitars come with a custom aluminum hardshell case. All guitars are serial numbered and autographed by Jeff Abel on the back of the head stock.

Each guitar from start to finish never leaves Jeff’s shop. He does it all from annodizing to the final tuning. For anyone who is interested in a custom Abel Axe Guitar, they are $5,000 ea. Due to demand; there is a 6-month waiting list.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to order, you can email us at [email protected]. You can also contact Jeff at (406) 961-1283.

: What happened to Abel Axe? Did they leave guitar production yet again? Really beautiful works of art. Thier web page doesn’t even come up. thanks,

    2. Re: Abel Axe
      Todd

Abel axe is pretty much out of the guitar manufacturing business. They are making other products now. Your right they are works of art. I used to work for Abel Axe I have one of the original production models. I stamped the serial # into mine. its # 9405……94 was the first year made and 05 well the fifth guitar made.

My cousin used to work for Abel Axe. Marty was a guitar tech. I recieved an Abel Axe from Marty that belonged to his father. An awesome guitar, and a family heir loom. I sent a picture into the tribute site a while back.

Hey it’s Travis Parker, the intern at Barking Pig. I was messing around on the net and figured I’d look to see if i could find you guys on here. found a few things but no where to buy the album yet. hopefully the mastering went good and everyything’s going as planned let me know! Travis Parker

      2. Re: Abel Axe
        pedro

yeah, it’s certainly too bad about those Abel Axes not being made anymore, but the newer ones were way overpriced, and most of that cost appeared to be toward their complex color-anodization process.
I much prefer the original production model (round holes instead of longer slots), and my brother and I own 4 between us.

      Mary Parke

Hi! The Oden-Thompson family in California are very interested in knowing how your mother and father are. I can see how you developed your interest in music. Your mother and father sang and played music for us when they visited California. In fact, I helped them find the place that sold the Fender guitar to them. I also helped them shop for the things on your list (Levis, cowboy boots, and belt buckles). I alway wondered if they were the right sizes. It was a lot of fun. Our family loves music, too. It’s nice to know that you are continuing to love music and GUITARS! Your second cousin, Mary
