According to <http://goyaguitars.tripod.com/goya_info.htm>
"Goya brand guitars were made starting in 1954 to 1996" so looks like you've got one from the 50's.
Hope that helps

That's partially correct. The G-10 was manufactured beginning in 1958, so the low serial number would probably indicate that year. Although, I'm not sure if Levin actually serialized by guitar model or not. I think they traditionally serialized all guitars in order of manufacture. I would look long and hard at that 94 number, it may have some other numbers worn off. Just a thought.
But for sure, the guitar cannot be older than 1958, and is probably before the Martin takeover in 1972.

Let your 8 year old have a go at the guitar! I recommend that you take it to a guitar shop for them to look over.

I have had my 174 since about 1972 or 73; it was a bit over $300 new. My guess is yours is from around the same period and may be worth about that if in reasonably good shape. Just a guess.

I have had my "174" since 1968. I bought it for $350.00
I believe it has Rosewood sides and back.
Last appraisal on mine was @ $1000.00.

Help on repairing a 1948 Goya F-11

I love this guitar and play it to death however the bridge is starting to get cut by the strings at the base of the pin set. Is there anyway that any of you know of to stop further damage? I really don't want to replace the bridge, i'm afraid it may damage the intonation. Anyone had this problem with one of your instruments?

Thank you.

Re: Help on repairing a 1948 Goya F-11

I wouldn´t worry to much. It is not unusual on older guitars as the saddlebone is adjusted lower and lower. he strings simply get to low angle and cuts through the bridge a little bit. Without having seen this particular case i´d say it could even improve the sound of your guitar to carve with a fine tool to create a "canal" for the string so the force from the string on the saddlebone is harder. For further info go to www.frets.com, where You can see pictures on how to do.

By the way, There is no such thing as a 1948 Goya. The Goya brand was started by Guitars of Sweden in 1952/1953 to have a sellable brand for the american market. For further info go to www.goyaguitars.com.

Best regards Magnus, Gothenburg Sweden
