The GG7 is the flamenco guitar, as presented in the 1971 (Kustom) Goya catalog (http://goyaguitars.tripod.com/catalog71_8.htm).
It is identical to the Goya FL7 guitar from the 60s catalogs or the original Levin LFL-7. The housing is made of extra thin maple, and the top is of extra thin alp spruce (according to Levin catalogs). I saw one go at ebay in august for around 600$.

Magnus – thank you for the posting. My GG7 does appear to be
identical to the GG7 or FL7 you mention, with the exception that my GG7 has an ebony fretboard. I still have the GG7 available, so if anyone is interested please let me know.

I am offering my Goya GG7 classical guitar for sale. I purchase the instrument new in the early 1970s. It is almost mint and hardly ever played. The neck is perfect and the guitar plays beautifully.
My research has failed to turn up any information on this guitar.
It looks somewhat like the G20 shown in the 1968 Goya-Greco catalog.
It has an ebony fretboard, spruce top, and beautiful flamed maple (I believe) back and sides.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has more information on the GG7. The tone is spectacular, strong and clear. I believe this instrument is competitive with higher-end guitars in the $1,000+ price range, and I would consider offers in this price range.
Professionl references available. Guitar would be shipped insured and guaranteed to be as described.
Please contact me at [email protected] for additional information; pictures to serious buyers.

1. Re: Goya Guitar Model M-50 Ser 3113 - Price?
Magnus

Hi, If it is a Goya M-50 as shown in the 1958 Goya catalog (http://goyaguitars.tripod.com/catalog58_8.htm) it is probably valuable, I have never seen or heard of one. I have only seen it in the 1958 catalog and the serial number should be in the range 366296 – 384905 for 1958.

Could You possibly send me a picture, I would like to see it!

Regards…/Magnus (owner of 3 Levin made Goyas)

Check out this website: http://www.whitetreeaz.com/vintage/goya.htm
If this site is as accurate as it looks, your guitar is from 1945.

I just found this list in trying to put an age to mine, which is 1917.

I just want to know a couple things about it like how old it approximately is. Another thing about it is that although both the nut and saddle should be ivory, only the nut is, and the saddle is wood. Also, from the pictures of seen online, I haven’t seen the same design on the front my guitar. I don’;t know whether it’s the quality of the pictures online, but my guitar has "veins" running up and down the front of the body.
: Thanks, Erik

Darren

i’ve just recently inhertited this beautiful instrument and i have no idea how valuable it is or what its worth. i have no idea what year it was made (no manufacturing date printed). Here’s all the info i have from the inside sticker:

GOYA INTERNATIONAL
A PART OF THE CF MARTIN ORGANISATION (yes its spelled with an "s" on the sticker)
Model #: G840
Serial #: G9020
Made in Japan

INSIDE the guitar stamped into the end of the neck, just under the truss rod, is this:
K
217025

Here is a picture of my guitar:
http://home.comcast.net/~shindo107/Goya.JPG

The inlays are mother of pearl, outline of the body is mother of pearl, outline of the mouth is mother of pearl. I’m assuming the K on the inside neck means Koa wood (?) and i’ve found conflicting sources for serial number dating for this specific guitar.

Thanks

My father gave me a goya G-13 that he got in high school. Not sure the age or value. If anyone knows how I might go about finding out this info please e-mail me. It is in beautiful shape…only minor dings and of course weather cracks in the finish. I can’t read the entire serial number, but what I can is 3_72862 and I’m not even sure about the 8. Anyway, any info would be great.

I have the same model guitar that I’ve owned for about four years that I acquired from a friend. I’ve only recently become interested in researching its past, so I have nothing to offer you other than an agreement to your comments on the guitar. This was th first one I picked up and I’ve never found another acoustic that sounds as good as this one and it just feels "right" to me.

I also have a Goya G-40. They were made by Levin in Sweden. The workmanship is excellent; nearly Martin-like.
I believe the guitar was made about 1960. In any event, the model was made for a short time. A number of websites have Goya sales brochures, and the model was not yet listed in the 1958 brochure and is gone by the 1962 catalog.

The guitar has brazilian back and sides, beautifully figured, and a close-grained Norwegian spruce top. I also have the original hardshell case, a very nice quality plush-lined case with faux-alligator covering.

The guitar has no cracks, has never been repaired and plays very nicely. It has one scratch on the top, presumably from a classical guitar string "tail."

If interested, please email. I should be able to send pictures.

Mike Daniel

My friend George was a very good classical guitarist but arthiritis ended all that many years ago. He now suffers from Altzheimers and his family is selling his instruments to help pay for his nursing home costs. One of those instruments is a Goya Model G-40 serial# 363880 (1957). About 15 years ago, for reasons unknown, my friend took the strings off of the guitar, put it in its case and put it on a shelf in his bedroom closet where it set untouched until last week. I do not know if there was something wrong with it or if he just couldn’t play it any longer because of the pain in his hands.
Is there a Goya expert in southern California that I could take this guitar to in order to determine if there is indeed something wrong with it and maybe even help find a buyer for it if it is OK?

Joe Howard

I am interested in the subject of your email, because I collect Goya’s. The prices for them seem soft, certainly given the quality of them. I have never encountered a G-40 for sale on the internet, but recently bought on ebay a G-15 for $250, a G-17 for $400, and a G-30 for $475. All of them had some cracks and substantial crazing, but were structurally sound. All of them play and sound great and have great projection. $1200 for your G-40 does not sound bad in the current market. Of all the ones I have, I like the G-17 the best. It has a very full, gutsy sound, and it’s darker in tone than the G-30 (mahogany vs. maple). The flame maple G-30 with gold-plated tuners and mother of pearl is the prettiest, having originally sold for twice the price of the G-17. I would like to get a G-40 sometime, but there were not as many made. How would you rate the tone on yours?

The tone on Goya g-40 – well its Brazilian rosewood – and that.s hard to beat very warm deep bass with bites on on the high,s – an 3,000.00 dollar tone. wish i didn’t sell it – Actually it was put up for auction by mistake or pre-maturely. Hope i find another one soon. The one i sold was beat up , no cracks tho . lots of nic,s etc and names carved in it and the person who bought it thought it needed neck reset but is well pleased with it.

It has a loose back bridge whichis loose, which will need
re-setting before I can string it up.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

12. GC-6 picture and worth?
Aaron Simonds

I received a goya classical guitar for christmas from my gilrfriend and it says Goya on the inside sticker and another sticker that is labled "10026", which I believe is the serial #. I searched for it online but I have not had much luck finding a picture or price of it. I haven’t even seen a "gc-6" listed among the sites. I did find a serial # page for goya guitars and 10026 would have been made in 1908. Can someone help me find a picture to verify? Thank you!

1. Re: Goya model 172 serial# 3929079
Randy

Your Goya 172 was made in 1959, same as mine. Don’t know much else. Good serial no. reference site is noexcusesguides.com. If you find any other sites, let me know. Very similar to the t-14, t-16 styles in the 1967 catalog. Check out Jack Walsh site at goyaguitars.com. Don’t bother trying to email him, though- he’s really backed up, apparently.

Magnus

Hey,
For the record, model 172 replaced the T16 in the late 60:s. You can see it in the 1971 catalog at Jack Walsh´s pages.
The same model back in 1959 was named S-16.

18. Goya Nylon String Classical?
Daniel T. Albertini

Hello sir I have done some minor repair to a Greco Model GR 121 designed, serviced and adjusted by Goya Guitars, INC. stamped service by H, serial #17323 I replaced the missing saddle and the spanish luthiers joint end cap as well as the malfunctioning tuners with major oxidation and wear damage. I am not sure about which species of tree the flamed back and sides came from it is similar to mahogany or cherry but with a unique hue. Rosewood fretboard and bridge. Bridge is starting to pull so needs reglued. Someone had tried putting steel strings but the pitch is still ok. I did a level crown and polish to the fretboard and frets and plays really well now. I was trained and graduated from Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in 2001 and have had quite a bit of experience in repair since then as well. I do not have much knowledge other than seeing some of these guitars with original stickers made in Sweden. I would appreciate your opinion of the value based on your experience with these instruments. And any other details you might know about it. Thank you very much.

The Greco classial guitar sounds ver much like one that I recently found in a thrift shop. It is in great shape and was made in sweden with a serial # 42530. it has a sunburst front and does not resemble any of the Greco classicals that I have managed to see on line. If you find out somthing let me know.

I hear they are wonderful guitars for the price and if anyone has one please contact me at [email protected] and let me know what you want for it. I would prefer a G-20, but I would buy a G-30 at the right price. It must be in xlint condition though I know Goyas tend to get a crackling in the finish which is okay, as long as there are no cracks all the way to the wood. The action must be standard for a classical, about 3 mm at the 12th fret for hi E string. If you have one you would like to sell, please, please contact me.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Wade

1. I have a G-20 SN 257334 (circa 1951).
I am the original owner. The guitar is nearly showroom new. It’s very pretty. I also have a case.

I might be interested in selling it for the right price.
I live in the Washington DC metro area.

: : Any idea what year this guitar was made?B.C.

: According to <http://goyaguitars.tripod.com/goya_info.htm>
: "Goya brand guitars were made starting in 1954 to 1996" so looks like you’ve got one from the 50’s.

That’s partially correct. The G-10 was manufactured beginning in 1958, so the low serial number would probably indicate that year. Although, I’m not sure if Levin actually serialized by guitar model or not. I think they traditionally serialized all guitars in order of manufacture. I would look long and hard at that 94 number, it may have some other numbers worn off. Just a thought.
But for sure, the guitar cannot be older than 1958, and is probably before the Martin takeover in 1972.
: Hope that helps

Let your 8 year old have a go at the guitar! I recommend that you take it to a guitar shop for them to look over.

20. Bridge Pickups
Mike

I recently found a Goya acoustic for sale. I’m considering buying it, and have the following question. Someone installed a bridge pickup at one point or another, and I am wondering how that affects the value of the guitar.

Thanks,

Mike

: I recently was given a goya G 17 serial 4195073.
: Obviously it would be impossible to appraise it without looking at it,
: but if someone could give me a ballpark idea of price ranges, it would be greatly appreciated
Your Goya, depending on condition would be worth, from $250 to $450

Wendell Vaughn

Sept. 15, 2005 from Wendell- I have a Goya Swedish G17, serial no. 34 handwritten. I bought it new in the 1960’s. I bought it for $250. I had it appraised in 1981 by James Fagan Music in a music store outside of Texarkana, Texas. He said it was made in the 1950’s despite I bought it in the 60’s. He appraised it at $1550 with the $100 hardshell case I purchased from him. I appreciate any follow ups also.
