  1. pickup switch wiring
    Scott Potter

My son recently bought an EMG powered pickup to install into his Jackson. Being the impulsive type, he proceeded to remove one of the old pickups, the old volume and tone controls, and disconnected the switch connections. He later asked dear old Dad to install the new one for him! Needless to say, he neglected to diagram the existing wiring before deconstruction.
The pickup switch is the standard 3-position toggle switch that came with the guitar. It has 8 terminals to choose from, and I need to find out where to solder the wires! I’ve soldered the tone and volume controls according to the EMG directions, but the diagram included shows a switch connection that looks nothing like the switch in the guitar. Please help!

: : i have a gloss blk ps-37 performer "rhodes style v" w/ a 7 digit serial also. i cannot find any info on this model anywhere.
jackson serial db only lists 4 & 6 # serial numbers on line.
this is a bolt on neck model, serial # 1048432.
        any info would be helpfull.

  3. Jackson V dimensions
    Joel

I have been searching all over the internet for the body dimensions of a Jackson V, or even a Rhoads V, for some time now and cannot come up with anything. I am trying to build my own and any info that anyone can give would be a great help.

    1. Re: Jackson or Charvel ?
      jim

Charvel aren’t really fake jacksons, but they aren’t really jacksons either. Charvel is the budget range of guitars made by jackson. Fender have squires, Gibson have epiphone, and jackson have Charvel. They can be quite good though, and in my experience far better than the s**t fender pump out and call squire. My friend had a charvel once, but made the terrible mistake of changing it for a Stagg. I dont think stagg make good guitars. Keep the Charvel.

    2. Re: Jackson or Charvel ?
      Joel

I have seen and owed serveral Charvels and everyone of them has had some sort of Jackson hardware on them. If nothing else you might have a Jackson with a replacement Charvel neck they all will pretty much bolt on to each other. Anyway Jackson don’t hold their value so all that really matters is if you are happy with it.

: I’ve found Charvel Fusion guitar. The problem is the back plate says: Jackson and the serial is also Jackson’s serial (I have checked on Jacksons website)I don’t know – is this fake guitar? Can anybody help ? Thanks

        Chris_X

I have a late 80’s Charvel/Jackson Model 4 and it has been a great guitar but the bolt on neck isnt as good as the neck thru. Also, the Jackson SL1 is one much nice guitar but it costs it too. I would always try to get a neck thru body no matter what guitar but thats where the price gets up.

    Art

I have a Jackson/Charvel #236007 w/case. I dont know what year it was made but I think it was made in the 70’s or 80’s. If any one knows the value of my guitar please reply thank you.

    1. Re: I need to know what my guitar is worth.
      Chris_X

I have a J/C model 4 and it isnt worth but prob $300 if that . If its in really good condition you might get more. The bolt on neck just isnt worth that much. Now if yours is a neck thru body it could be like $500 if in good condition.

  7. What kind of Jackson do I have
    Stuart

I bought my guitar at guitar center, and the tag on it says DXMGT-SP. I can’t find this model guitar on any website though, nothing matches it. it has a headstock like the soloist, a 3 way switch, one volume knob and one tone knob, two EMG-HZ pickups, 24 fret, bolt on, no whammy, the strings are body thru, not bridge thru, and it’s a metallic red color.

  11. What Jackson do I have?
    Q

I came across a Jackson guitar and I am having a hard time figuring out what model it is. It doesnt help any that I know zero about guitars.
This is what I do know about it:

    Double cutaway body design.
    22 frets.
    6 on one side tuners
EMG pick ups (2 small ones and a big one?) all black.
    Kahler tremelo (black).
    Pearl dot inlay.
Bolt on neck, with SN 2588, PO box 245, San Dimas CA 91773 on the plate.
Guitar is all black with clouds and lightening painted on it. Very well done, so would guess it was done professionally.
Has one volume knob and 3 toggle switches near the knob. Switches are only 2 stage (on and off, maybe?).

Thankyou for any help on this guitar. I could probably email some pictures if that would be of some help.

  24. Rhodes Custom
    Dale Burton

    Hi,
I have an older Jackson Rhodes Custom with ebony fret board, sharkfin inlays, black hardware, and it’s red. I was wondering if you could tell me what year it was made. The serial number is #997. Would the number be a clue to the date it was made? It was purchased about 5 years ago and it just rips!

Thank you for any information you may have.
    Dale

    1. Never mind. #RR0997 made in 1985 and,
      Dale Burton

according to the Jackson serial number list, it shows this guitar as the very first Rhoads for that year.

      Cool! 🙂

      Greg

: Does anyone know anything about the 1992 Jackson Soloist Professional ATT/ATN?

: I own a trans red archtop model. Mahogany back/maple cap body with 24 fret ebony fretboard and maple set-neck. Reverse "sharkfin" abalone inlays. Bound neck and headstock. 2 X Reflex Silver Series humbuckers with Reflex "Black Box" active circuitry. Licensed Floyd Rose made by Schaller Germany.

: How many of these Soloists were made? What are they valued at? Any famous players who own such a model?

      : Thanks,
: Donovan (Durban-ZA) It’s a lttle late in the game for the most part. Grover sold the company. The professional is made in Japan and not Ontario. However it sounds like a beautiful guitar. They were quite spectacular. Soloist features were one piece neck thru body, not a set neck, with poplar sides glued to a center piece of solid mahogany or maple usually. Arch tops were usually all mahogony with the exception the top which could be figured maple. No body binding right? Neck binding and the headstock too, right? That was considered a custom model option as opposed to a student model, back in the day. Ebony fret board on soloists, but arch tops usually employed rosewood. The idea being they wanted to give you a strat look and a Les Paul sound and feel. What else could a guy want? Unfortuneately who knows if it is possible but,I bet that is a pretty bold guitar nonetheless. Active electronics, usually 2 singles and a hum, maybe mini-switches. When Grover left so did many of the reasons artist used his guitars. Don’t know anyone famous anymore playing that one. Sounds like a $600-900.00 guitar.

      : Thanks,

I used to own a black one – which got stolen. They’re very difficult to get hold of, but I rate them better than the USA soloist – mainly because the action is better, and the active pickup’s a dream.
