  1. Franciscan model 6900, 1974/1975
    kitty

When I was 13, I was given my first guitar (Franciscan). I played (finger picking)for years. I haven’t played since the early 90’s and want to begin again. My question is: Has anyone heard of a Franciscan model 6900 (1974/1975)? It is still in like new condition. It needs some set-up work and strings. I will never part with it, but I was wondering about its history and value. Anyone know anything about Franciscans?

I’m a Japanese. Trump guitars are made in Japan. Perhaps all of them are made by ARIA, and most of them were exported to U.S. They have some brand names. for example BRUNO,CONQUEROR, and so on. Also In Japan, it is difficult to find them.

I just started to refinish a very old acoustic classical guitar. I picked it up27 yrs ago.
Maytan music in reno had placed their Brand sticker over the original Trump model T.
sticker. I pulled off the top sticker while refinishing. I’m guessing it is close to 40 yrs old

: My pawpaw gave me my trump guitar and he built this special app for it. it makes the guitar sound hollow but awkward in a good way. but my guitar was hand made in america by a musician in south louisiana. the trump industries accepted it and put it in but only 16 were made. they look horrible but upgrade it and the sounds and looks are 100% better.

      Steve

I purchased my Trump 12 string acoustic back in 1973 at the base PX. It was the sweetest and easiest playing guitar I’d ever had till it as stolen several years later. I’ve never been able to find another.

      1. trump ts 35 12 string.
        Phil

I have a Trump ts 35 12 string acoustic. My wife picked it up at a garage sale years ago. I don’t know anything about it. It has several adjustable features that are not commonly found on cheap guitars. I assume its quite old and in very good condition. I’m thinking about putting new strings on it to see how it sounds. Is there any info on this model?

        1. Trump TS53 12 string
          Ovedya

Trump 12-string ts-35 in 1978 while I was in the Air force. It has literally been around the world with me and I have played it for years. It sounds beautiful sounds and plays in my opinion like a Samick 12-string. I’m about to have it worked on to get the action a little better but it’s beautiful sounding guitar deep rich tones. I usually go with light or ultra light gauge strings on it does not sound silly at all. Matter of fact I had an ovation 12-string I had to sell one so I decided to keep the Trump and sell the Ovation.

        TOM

As i was taking out the trash one night, i opened up the dumpster and there she was……a trump model TS27. Looks like a gibson Dove (same pickguard)replica with a sunburst cherry finish. All i know is the woman upstairs passed on (87yrs)an the son tossed it out. He told me she had it for at least 40yrs. It’s alittle faded but plays as well as my yamaha fg460sa and ovation balladeer. Mahogany back and sides not sure of the top.

        1. I have one also, got it in a garage sale for 10$. cant find a thing on them, Ive had it for 20 years now, hardley out of the case, has a couple of birds on it
do you know what there worth, or whear to find info. on them

My friend has a trump guitar that he kept in the back of his trunk unprotected for years. He not being a guitar player assumed it was junk. When I played the guitar he hadn’t touch in several months, it was still in tune. It sounds great and isn’t made of cheap wood. The model was Ts 101 not hand writen. The tuning knobs were made in Japan but I don’t where the guitar is from or what it’s worth.

      1. Trump guitar
        Anonymous

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I have the exact guitar. It’s a Trump classical acoustic TS-101. I had a friend of mine who makes guitars professionally look at it and he said that they are a very rare guitar because Trump was actually a mandolin company and only made guitars for about 3 years. Any of these guitars are at least 90 years old and are solid cocobolo wood from either Mexico or Hawaii. I had mine appraised in a (used, in good condition) state with a few chips in the paint and a re-glued neck piece, and it still retailed at $800. Hold on to it if you have it!

          Anonymous

I have a Trump TS-21 and it was made July 29, 1979. That makes my guitar a little less than 34 years old. How would I go about getting my Trump appraised as no one around here has even heard of this brand. I like the sound of it, but it is need of, from what I can tell, minor repair. I’d really appreciate some input. Thanks.

UH,,,,I goofed back there. I, too, have an old TRUMP
guitar made in Korea (I think in the 50’s). I found one

one. The model # on mine is TN24. I believe the back and sides are mahogany; the bridge is rosewood, and the

          Hello,

I purchased a trump guitar for my husband back in 1979. I bought it at Walmart for either 100.00 or 200.00. I still have it and it’s in great shape.

      **
I just about a Trump FG-41 from an antique store in Cartersville, GA this weekend. The model number is hand written and is the only identifying piece of info on it. The sticker on the inside says TRUMP and there’s an oval sticker on the head that says TRUMP as well, even though it’s off center so that a tiny portion of it wraps to one side…

It’s the same size as my Fender DG-7 but it’s not quite as deep, maybe a 1/2 inch or an inch skinnier. Makes it easier to sit in your lap.

After getting some new bridge pins and putting on some new strings, it sounds great. No idea where it’s from, what it’s worth, or any of the history behind it.

So if someone knows where to find something out, we’re all ears.

      Thanks.
      Mike C.

In 1978 an Army buddy bought a Trump Guitar that looks and sounds like a Gibson Hummingbird from
the Post Exchange for $100. I bought it from him for $25 and still have it. MY 17 year old is a pretty good picker and singer plays it every day and loves it. Unfortunately I dont know much about the guitar or the company. Good Luck.

I was given a trump guitar from my girlfriends mother, she said it belonged to her grandfather. It looks old and the serial number is handwritten. but the aged wood sounds great. it could use some work but I’m afraid to because i don’t know anything about these trump guitars, or how much they’re worth if anyone finds anything let me know!

I have a Tump Hummingbird acoustic. The model is a TS10 and the model appears to have been hand written on the label which makes me wonder if the guitar is older. No serial number I can find. Can anyone help me date this guitar?

      3. Grandpa's Trump Guitar
        emily h

I inherited a Trump WG-59 that my grandpa picked for a long long time. No idea how old it is, but I’ve been told they’re well made guitars. Right now I’m trying to replace the tuning keys and do some light cosmetic work on it before I start learning.

      4. Trump TS10/W
        Bobby Cravens

I have a Trump TS10/W I bought on a Facebook resale site for $50 . it didn’t have any strings , it was dirty from sitting in a corner for many years . I cleaned it up and put on new strings , it doesn’t have any scratches , very shinny . I think it’s one of the best sounding Guitars I have , very deep sound on the top E string , just a beautiful sound when playing it , I love it . and I have 2 Takamine guitars , a Gibson , a Johnson , a Fender , and this Trump has the best sound . I don’t know what it’s worth because I can’t find any information on it except the ID sticker inside the body . but I don’t think I would sell it anyway .

      5. Trump TS-21 Acoustic with mystery neck
        Bradass Mutterfugger

I was given a Trump TS-21 (Gibson Hummingbird) remake and it has the original Trump label inside the sound hole but the headstock says Castilla. If the neck has been replaced whoever did it is really good because it is strongly attached to the body and you can’t tell that there was anything serviced on it. Anyway, if anybody can fill me in on this guitar I’d like to know.

      6. Trump Drednaught Mahogany guitar
        David Newton Guitars

I have a Mahogany dreadnaught guitar in my shop just now, and it looks like a 70’s Aria, or Conqueror or other Japanese guitar of that time, but the label says “Trump” but the headstock has “Epi” painted over black and it shows where a missing sticker was applied.
So I’m thinking that “Trump” guitars were “Epi” seconds…

      8. My Trump ts-10 (hand-written)
        Willow

I’ve had my Trump for close to 30 years and it looked old when it was given to me. This is the first place and time I’ve found anywhere that covers Trump Guitars. Mine is the same size as my Epiphone Hummingbird, It’s dark chocolet with Black piping and pick guard, Black Bridge and Saddle. Smells like aged Mohagony , with a Rosewood fret-board. I too would like to find out who created these guitars and how much they are worth in todays market. From what I’ve been reading, we lucky ones to have been blessed with ownership my have a small God-mine. It holds a tune like no other guitar I’ve ever heard, it can be sooo sweet then bust out there when nudged. Set mine in a corner, walk off and Cough….it rings like a chime.

      9. trump electric guitar
        jeffrey

i was given a trump electric les paul copy by a friend who wants me to start playing again and i want to know the true value of this instrument(not a pawn shops opinion) she is in near perfect condition , the headstock ‘nut’ is brass so i think it was replaced at some point .. or?? my friend said the brass nut gave it a ‘neat . unique’ sound..?? im told there became a component/electrical issue with her..it is a Les Paul copy, orange to red sunburst finish, original pickgaurd, tuning pegs are ‘made in germany’,no model number visable…the back has two black access panels ..one behind toggle switch and one behind volume/tone knobs..
it has fair to good string ‘action’ on frets.even in close to the body or higher on the scale..as close or closer to the frets of any quality axe ive handled… very solid .quality feel to the neck and body…it jus feels to be quality crafted..the fretboard is ‘edged’ with the same white material as the body edging,(between TOP and SIDES and BOTTOM veneers)its as heavy as any Gibson ive ever picked ..exellent sustain and marvelous harmonics too ..and i havent had them tuned yet.. and the Trump logo is with playing cards …
please enlighten me with as much info as you can on this instrument .. my email is [email protected].. hit me there if you can becausei want her repaired soon and the nut thing has me baffled.. (brass?) i wanna HEAR this girl sing in her own voice ..but i wanna know all i can before a single screw is touched … thank you very much ..
        sincerely jeffrey

      10. Trump TFG-01
        Eric

My 11 year old daughter needed a nylon string guitar for Mariachi guitar lessons given at her school. I found an orangeburst Trump 3/4 size guitar(perfect size for her). It has ‘TFG-01’ handwritten inside. The guitar is made in Korea and seems pretty nice. It plays and sounds very good. I got it at a flea market in El Paso, Texas off some guy. I paid 40 dollars for it. It even had the original box. But there is no additional info on it.

I have learned some from 33 years experience, also recommend books by Ron Kirn or Jacksonville FLA. Find them with google search.

Anyhow, if your spraying environment is warm enough, I think the sparkle finish should adhere. Overlay with several coats of acrylic lacquer, not nitrocellulose. Let cure for at least 3 months before assembly.

Also, my silver sparkle Strat-type guitar custom-made serial number 001 made by Bill Nash/Nashguitars has survived temps of minus 30 degrees, and is okay, since I warmed it up for 24 hours at room temperature before opening. BUT, nitro would have cracked, I think.

DO contact Ron Kirn. He’s a nice guy and and expert, after all he wrote the book(s)!

You will find something comfortable and then you will move upwards…I have only spent about $500 on any guitar (acoustic and electric) but, I find there is something missing…so Im going to have to save my allowance and then get the guitar that I want….

      Good Luck in your journey….

  11. what is easier to play?
    Jimmy

Is the acoustic guitar easier to learn how to play than an electric guitar? What is a good price for an acoustic guitar? What is a good price for an electric guitar? What is a good brand name guitar? Thanks, Jimmy

    1. Re: left handed guitars
      Ronny

Try looking for a Epiphon AJ100 series. with an L after the model number (Lefthanded) Reasonable priced guitars. Some $250-300. Also look at used guitars. If handeled right they are just as good after 20 years as they were new. I found one today for $230, but that was here in Sweden 🙂 It was a lefthanded western guitar 20 years old but a very good one.

  12. I need to paint my guitar...nothing fancy, just a color
    The Butterfly Effect

does anyone know how to go about painting or putting a finish on a self assembled fender body guitar? The one person in my town who might know says that you cannot do it in the winter because the finish will not hold…I need to see if there is another way to paint a guitar white and make it look good in the winter. Respond or send me email at [email protected] …thanks

    1. : Hey, I’m sooooo interested in learning to play the guitar for a Skaband, can anyone recomend a good starting guitar????

Yes, my dads friend Rod Cursey sells guitars called traditions. They are very nice and enexpensive, as a matter of fact I had one when I first started I really liked it. My dads friend Rod cursey has a music shop in greencastle Indiana if your have any questions please e-mail.

    2. Re: Guitars
      the butterfly effect

I would go with something relatively cheap, like a squire or a rogue for starting, once you get better, buy something better cuz you will need it.

      1. Re: Guitars
        Sardukar

Don’t listen to em’ man, Squire’s are unplayable pieces of crap. If you try to learn how to play on something crappy with horrible sound, the only thing your going to learn is how much you hate your P.O.S. guitar. Always buy the nicest rig you can afford. Hmm… Fernandes makes some decent one’s for the money, looking around a $300 price range for the guitar only, which is really about as low as you want to go if you actually plan on continuing to play the guitar. For ska sound, double humbuckers will be good for rhythm, give you that kinda full dirty phased sound that almost all ska bands use. BTW, ska has been done, so be original, come up with some wacked shit.
