Vintage Kay Electric Guitar, strat style

My friend has in his possession a vintage Kay soildbody electric guitar. It looks like a maple body (kind of shaped like a fender strat, but with a shallower cut on the treble side of the neck) and a maple neck (3-on-a-side tuning keys), rosewood fretboard, 19 frets, kind of a natural burst, two pickups mounted on an off-white pickguard... I think they're like soapbars, and have metal covers... the bridge is made of wood, with a metal stop tailpiece, both of which are covered by a ashtray-style bridge cover. Any information that someone might have on what the hell this thing is would be much appreciated. thanks!
