If anyone is interested, I have created an Antoria website with an ever increasing amount of information on it.... please take a look & join up if you're interested.. the url is as follows:
My Dad bought this one in the early 50's , he played it all through my childhood. Now Im playing it for my kids. Anyhow its acoustic with F-holes, front and back are curved. Where were these made and marketed. The old man may have bought it in England but I think its a japanese model. Seems like a lot of people have questions about Antorias and cant find any info. Thanks Y'all.

I used to work for Coppocks years ago, It could be that the JL in JL music was one , John Lawson, a previous director of JT coppock although the MD of Coppocks also had the JL initials, John Lomas.
its only a guess though.

Don't know if I can shed much light on your value, but I had a Sakura 6-string 32 years ago. Was a great guitar, rosewood body, tight grain spruce front. Sounded as good as my buddy's Martin D-18, and much better action. Had it stolen from my VW van in Seattle, 1980. Love to find another one and see if they age well...
I purchased this guitar in 1971. (£85)- gorgeous resonating sound and a great looker. I am thinking of buying the genuine Gibson SJ200 but reluctant cause I don't know how much different it would sound to the Antoria. Anyone any thoughts + any idea of current value of the Antoria copy?

: Any web sites, phone numbers etc.
Hi, I bought my Antoria mandolin 20 years ago when I was in Scotland, still in excellent condition and still play it. I havent seen or heared of another one untill I stumbled over your comments.
my brother went to scotland on a trip with my brother in law and bought my antoria mando and played it for a few years and then gave it to me, it is my first mando and now looking to move up to another one
Same problem here! I have an Antoria Gibson EB0 or EB3 (can't remember offhand which one it is) copy style bass. Mine plays lovely too, (despite shoddy attempts at home electrics tampering, but thats getting sorted!).
I'm just about (just for my own interest really and if anyone else is interested) about to start building a database/site on Antoria's, simply because I'm trying to find out a bit about them myself.
All I know is that they were built in the same factory as Ibanez until the late 70's and were just badged different. I may be wrong, but i found this out from some guy in Newcastle.
If anyone can give me any further info, or even send me pics of their Antoria's (guitars, basses or acoustics) I'd be really grateful, so i can start this database/catalogue thing!
Cheers
