Travis Bean

Travis Bean '98 guitars & basses

Travis Bean used to make excellent guitars and basses, unfortunately he passed away on the 10th of July, 2011.

We have left this page here as a tribute and so you can discuss the excellent instruments Travis used to make.

I have a feeling he's "closed shop" again. I doubt anyone was willing to pay $6,000+ for one of the new travis bean guitars / basses. I think the older ones look cooler anyway. Not to mention I'm sure the new ones didn't play much better than the originals... Then again, I'm kinda biased. I own a black lefty standard bass and a cream color wedge bass :) And I payed less than half of the $6,000 he's asking for a new standard for the both of them combined. Sure the newer ones are quite more "advanced" as far as the design and manufacture goes, but I don't think anyone thinks a new wedge is worth $8,000 because it's semi hollowbody with an all aluminum back. The only way I'd spend that kind of $ on a new one was if I could afford to throw away that kind of money and just buy it to show my appreciation for his amazing ideas and craftmanship.

Re: What happen to the new Bean's?

: Nevertheless, doesn't anybody have any idea where Travisbean.com has gone? Has anybody actually seen a reissue - and where are they all now? How many were made? I've never once seen one for sale anywhere in the world, or heard of an owner. Was it all a hoax? Who out there in bean land has actually laid eyes on one of these so-called "re-issues" (which are so utterly different from the originals, I'd say they were a completely new guitar - they sound even better to me).

I inquired about the new beans about a year ago. I found their website by accident. After e-mailing them many times, I repeatedly got no reply. eventually, I linked to Bernie Hepner of Edenhaus guitars. He was a distributor for Travis Bean. After speaking with him, he told me that his company actually made the new Bean guitars for TB under a contract. I think he said about 9 or 10 were made. He said he did not know the where abouts of them.
I have an Artist circa 1978, and was actually looking to buy one of the new ones, but I can't find them either.
