| Contact: Rich Mermer, Jr.Last Update: 23/11/1998Post Comment | Fine Handcrafted Guitars by Richard Mermer, Jr The instruments that I build incorporate tonewoods and materials of the highest quality. All woods are air dried and well seasoned prior to their use. Although several species of "exotic" woods may be used, an effort is made to obtain these materials from trees that have fallen as a result of natural phenomenon (i.e., wind, erosion, etc.). In addition, "sustainable yield" materials are used whenever possible. As I build custom instruments that are commissioned by an individual, the design and specifications are dictated by the desires of the client. The most important aspect of building a custom instrument is communicating with the client, and understanding their needs and expectations. The materials used, body shape, size, and overall design all depend on what the client wants to hear, see, and feel. It is my task as a custom builder, to select the appropriate material and design the instrument to get the desired results. Each instrument incorporates features that will enhance the instrument's musical performance and playability. An aesthetically pleasing form and tone are the hallmarks of my instruments.
