Looking to buy a Frank Gambale 6 string electric guitar??

D'Agostino guitar

My husband purchased a D'Agostino guitar from a pawn shop several years ago. We can't seem to find any information about it.
We have taken it to be restrung a few times and were told that it was a beautifully made guitar.
Do you have any information about it?
Thanks

Re: D'Agostino guitar

I purchased a D'agostino double cutaway solid body electric guitar in 1982 from a guitar shop in the Bronx. It was red with tan colored pickups, ebony fingerboard with abalone inlays and had D'agostino written in abalone on the body. It was a really great guitar. I met the man who owned the company and I believe mine was one of his first. It was stolen from a Allied moving truck when I moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama in 1988 along with a lot of other personal belongings. I miss it very much and it was a really great guitar! I heard that the quality dropped and the company may have gone under, but I don't know that for sure. Judging by the one that I had, they made at least one very well made easy playing guitar!

Re: D'Agostino guitar

I just bought a D'Agostino solid body. I have some information, though not much. Mine was manufactured--or to be more accurate--hand made--in Italy, in a small guita shop that was purchased by Eko guitars. It was eventually moved to Japan, where the Benchmark I and II were maufactured later. That's about all I know. Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.

bob west guitars manufactured in U.S. in early 1900's

Seeking information regarding "Bob West" acoustic guitars manufactured in early 1900's. I have one which was handed down and I am beginning to use it in my act. I would like to have some details about it for the "romance" and "nostalgia" of having such an old guitar with such a good sound.

KENT GUITAR

WHO MANUFACTURED THESE, AND ARE THEY OF ANY VALUE IN TODAY'S
VINTAGE MARKET?

Re: KENT GUITAR

Kent guitars were made in Japan and Korea from around 1964 thru around 1975. They were an offshoot of the
Teisco company. Teisco made cheap guitars for every company that needed a private label cheap guitar, like
"Lafayette Electronics", "Woolworth's" and "Montgomery Ward", but not Sears. They were not made by
Hagstrom in Sweden, Hagstrom took to distributing them at one time. Kent guitars are a dime a dozen, since
the Japanese have always flooded the markets with their products, just like they do with cars today.
But "quality" guitars they are not. It wasn't until Ibanez that guitar making in Japan became serious.

Re: KENT GUITAR

: WHO MANUFACTURED THESE, AND ARE THEY OF ANY VALUE IN TODAY'S

As with any "vintage" piece, the value depends on damage, parts replaced, etc. I have a 1960's semi-hollow body model 35, it is a great guitar, can hold it's own with any Gibson semi-hollow body, but since it has a little known name it will never be worth what the big boys go for. Kent is a Japanese made guitar. There is an exclusive article on them in the Feb 2002 issue of Guitar Player magazine.

made in sweden by hagström

Re: KENT GUITAR

I was told that they were contracted out for a store such as (Sears,Wester Auto, etc.) to be made as an inhouse brand. Story goes if the head looks like a Gibson head thats who made it, same with fender. each year a new company was to make that model. this came from a guy who (back in the day) play them exclusively cause he got the quality without paying the hi dollar price. I haven't been able to prove or disprove this.
I own one and was told the according to the style of bridge it's late 60ish at the newest and it's a hollow body. As far as value I was offered $300 for mine (but can't offer any more than that).

Re: KENT GUITAR

I believe they are made in Japan.

Re: KENT GUITAR

: Made in Japan by Fujigen Gakki in early 1960s.

Don't know who manufactured but I am looking for one - a 1960's model that looks like a strat (kinda'). It was my first guitar and I would like to find one for sentimental reasons.
