The home of Gibson electric guitars today is “Gibson USA,” built in 1974 in Nashville specifically for the production of Gibson’s Les Paul guitars. Although the entire guitar industry went through a slump in the late ’70s, the spirit of innovation remained strong at Gibson. In response to a growing demand for vintage stylings, Gibson tapped its rich history and reissued the dot-neck version of the ES-335 in 1981 and the flametop sunburst Les Paul in 1982. At the same time, two legendary guitarists joined Gibson- B.B. King in 1980 with the Lucille model and Chet Atkins in 1982 with his new concept of a solidbody acoustic guitar.

: My frend has a gibson gs 330 guitar that he uses in a band.He would like to know about when it was made ,and what is it worth in todays market. The guitar is in very good condition. Thanks for any help you can give . Tom
Hi Tom – I was just talking to my uncle last night. They made them for only 2 years. Many of them were modified to include a tremelo bar which quite significantly lowers their value in today’s market. He bought his in about 1965 for $400. Gas was 28 cents a gallon at the time. The unique thing about this paricular gibson is that the entire body is hollow. Most gibson hollow bodies were only about 7/8ths hollow. I assume the finish is quite cracked but still looks good. This is true of all g s 330s. If unmodified, it is worth at least $7000. This is quite a rare piece with an incredible sound. You’ve really got something there.
email me a pic and i can tell ya
that guitar was one of only 6 ever made, it was discontinued after it failed to be liked by any famous guitarists of the time. i have only ever heard of one other one in existance. to help me confirm it is a original GS email me a picture of the guitar

To tell when a guitar was made you need to look for the serial number which is probably at the back of the headstock. There is a list of numbers and corresponding years at the gibson home page. It will be worth the most between arond the mid ’50s to late 60’s. The mid to late 60’s guitars in particular. However once the date hits 1970 the value is significantly reduced. Make sure it is kept in good condition and is looked after. DON’T REPAIR DAMAGE OR REPLACE PARTS. This will reduce the value for a collector.

My friend need some tech information on how to adjust the neck on his Gibson Les Paul custom. The neck has a slight bow in it right before it gets to the body of the guitar. He would like to get it straightened out. Thanks

Basically this is a technical job requiring care and accuracy. If you don’t know how to do it find someone who can. You might be lucky to find someone in a music shop but your best bet would be to find a specialist in guitar repairs who should do it in about 10 minutes.

you should take the neck of the guitar and stick it right up your arse. then, twist is a little bit to the right, this gives it that slight overtone and intonation of the butt. this will gather enough energy so that you can play mean ass rock n roll like drive like jehu. take a spin to the san diego spock rock scene. DRIVE LIKE JEHU baby!!!
You sound like you have been self medicating man !
Halve the dose!
He should take it to a store that sells guitars, and they’ll do it.

The information you have given is too vague. Can you find the model of the guitar on the gibson website? Also only quote the PRINTED serial number. Number of pickups, colour, any other things written any where else on the guitar. All of these things would be useful.
