I've got an ovation ae-136 too. I bought it new in Germany about 10 years ago. Yes it is supposed to have a forked head. It should also have 'ping' closed machine heads. Mine has always played well, Just had the nut professionally replaced (was chipped. They were so impressed that they lowered the bridge for free. It now sounds and plays even better than my new pinnacle cu 247 which I bought to replace it. Ovation are USA made, they also build applause in Korea (cheaper production costs, but mine is living proof that the quality is just as good. Don't ever sell it!
