I have a Matrix model #1137. It is made by Kaman Music in Connecticut. I bought it 15 years ago for $100.00, it was my first guitar. Does anyone know a value? or age?
thank you.

The Matrix model was part of the Ovation line in the early 1980's, but the project was not successful for a variety of reasons, and was discontinued in 1984-1985. We do not know the exact value, but chances are that it would not be worth a tremendous amount since it was a rather inexpensive guitar to begin with, and we do not know of any collector's market for that model.

I have that same guitar..Mine is serial #009846. Blonde, with black and white binding and black and white decorative plastic trim around the soundhole. Bought it at a garage sale many years back for $40... It needed work: I made a new bridge for it, polished the frets, replaced the tuners, installed a nice set of bronze wound strings, and a neckstrap, and I love it! Great rich tone and nice action. I use it as a kick-around guitar to figure out tunes and just relax with. Probably not worth too much: I find that in the stuffy world of guitar collecting, only the "upscale" brands are desirable, like Gibson, Martin and D'Aquisto. Everything else is considered second-rate. It's all just hype, and doesn't mean other brands aren't playable and fun. At any rate, try to find an American-made folk guitar of this quality today for $100 or less! Impossible. Everything now is made in Korea or Taiwan. Your post was from a few years ago-- Hopefully you're still enjoying your Matrix, as I am!
