  2. rainsong guitars--HELP!

I just bought a rainsong new from a company over the internet. Got it in today and found an area on the lower side of the upper bought that looks like the carbon fiber got distorted and fuzzed up. It’s probably purely cosmetic (the dealer assured me so), but it’s a pretty noticeable blemish/defect. It may be the nature of the beast, and if so, I can certainly live with it. If this is not typical, I’m probably sending it back to exchange it. If you have an opinion, please respond asap as I will be talking with the dealer tomorrow. The guitar sounds great, plays well and the defect is not in a noticeable area to an audience, but had it been on the top, it’s real clear to me that NO manufacturer would have sent it out. I mean for that price I could have had a Taylor, Gibson, Martin, take your pick…

I bought a om-1000,had to send it back. The frets top 8,by the sound hole, were so far out of the neck that the e string got caught under all 8,rainsong said that they would replace it.They did,but they also said that there is (no guitar that goes out is perfect)but for the money they should tell you that befor hand,The 2nd guitar like yours has some spots on it that I wish were not there, but I dont want to send this one back.Dont know what I will get,so I will keep this one,it sonds so great, best guitar I ever got ,other then the bad spots but I would definitly get another one (but would like to have several to chose from this time

  3. Rainsong Sound vs. traditional wood

I’ve played both the WS and the OM models (2001 vintage) – they are great ! Both have a well balanced sound: ample low end without boominess, great mid-range and clear trebles. The guitar is incredibly light, but the sound is anything but. If you perform or find yourself playing outdoors, this is the perfect guitar. Great looking, great sounding and it laughs at humidity changes and normal temperature changes (of course you cannot leave it sitting in a case in a hot car, but you can’t even do that with your dog). You’ll begin to see more of these great guitars in the coming years. Every performer should own one.

  4. Pickguard
    Colin Smith

    Rainsong,
I received a WS1000 for my nineteenth b-day and i love it. I told my parents to get another one before they stop making them perhaps. I don’t have a pickguard on it right now and my style of playing doesn’t really abuse the guitar too much but i sometimes like to jam. Do you recommend getting pickguard installed or can the finish be renewed if it begins to wear too much? I really like how the finish looks right now and even a clear pickguard will distort the appearance of the guitar. Thanks if you respond. I enjoy playing much more than before since i picked up a rainsong. They’re awesome.
    Thanks,
    Colin

Colin, I’ve seen an older WS with a factory p/g. It was black over white laminate and tear drop shaped. It looked pretty good! I think a blk/gray would look good.

:Colin: I’m a professional musician and own a Rainsong Jumbo. I’ve taken it to England, Brazil, and all over the States. I have no pickguard, but see no reason not to install one. I kind of like my guitars to show the history of their musical adventures. These Rainsongs seem to be tough anyway. Good luck with your playing. Oh, by the way…have you plugged yours in yet? The onboard system is amazing. Terry.

  5. I have a Jazz Rainsong archtop. This is an extremly rare model. It is all graphite and sounds wonderful. It compares easily with expesenvive
GUild, Gibson and even accoustic arctops. Stays in tune perfectly.

I have a Jazz Rainsong; I do not know how many were built, I was told less than thirty. It is in fact very rare. You should post your comments on Harmony-central database . I am curious to see your evaluation of this guitar. By th way , How much did you pay for it? Thanks
