Re: Yamaha SA-90 info ?

: I only recentley found out the model # of my guitar , was told it was an AE but it;s SA-90. Does any one have info on this guitar. Ray posted a Yamaha japan site that has pic's (thanks again Ray) but little other info that I can dechiper.

Contact guitarguru@yamaha.com and send him a photo. He'll tell you the year and a little more. I have a 1970 SA50 that I had a hard time finding anything about, there's not much on them on the net. good luck

Re: Wanted: FG 180

I have owned a FG180 since 1974. I had no idea that they were so sought after, although I suppose I should have realised, because it has, as I was told when I bought it, become better with age.
I have played much more expensive guitars over the years, and I can honestly say, most are not up to it.

Re: Wanted: FG 180

i have a fg-180 red label, what are you willing to pay..good condition for its age 80-90% condition, mostly play wear and belt buckle scratches

I have a Yamaha SA-50 "335" that I just got from my father-in-law. He bought it new and never had a chance to play it before shipping off to Vietnam. Once he got back he lost interest so in it's case it's sat for the past 40 years. Anyways, I'm interested in selling it. Dark Green in color.

A beautifully sounding nylon lovely...minor chords make your heart weep. Just brought mine out of 8 years and she still sounds as melodic, however the high action is hurting somewhat.

Re: Yamaha G-55-A

Good day. Vintage Guitar Magazine Dec issue has an interesting article by Michael Wright on the history of Yamaha guitars.

Info on Yamaha FG-180

I have a Yamaha FG-180 thats about 30 years old. I have no idea what its worth. It has a V neck and the metal yamaha insignia with the tuning forks at the top of the neck. The label on the inside says "YAMAHA FG-180 Nippon Gakki" Could someone please give me some info?

Re: Info on Yamaha FG-180

Isaac,
I too have a Yamaha FG-180 that my mom bought for me back in '70. It's been through thick and thin and while I've bought and sold all sorts of guitars since then, this one has stuck with me. I've got Bo Diddley's autograph as well as Jimmy Rogers' (of Muddy Waters fame)and a few others right on the body. It's pretty beat up but I love it. I've got no idea what FG-180s are worth. I haven't seen them on E-Bay and it appears they're not being made anymore.
Sorry I can't give you any info, but I thought you might like hearing from another owner/fan.
-PHil

Re: Info on Yamaha FG-180

: Isaac, hello, I also have a Yamaha FG 180. I bought it from new in 1972. It is in `showroom condition, it has fish tail headstock, and crossed metal tuning fork insignia. As yours it has a red label inside the body, FG180, Nippon Gaki
I would like to know value ..the sound and tone are exceptional. The gutar sounds identical to your own, all I can tell you for sure is the manufacture date is 70-71
