Re: Info on Yamaha FG-180

I also have one. sounds exactly like yours except mine has the yamaha label on the headstock, not the crossed tuning forks.

Re: Info on Yamaha FG-180

Thanks Pete, I have no I dea on prices, however yours is probably worth more than mine. Yours sounds like the exact same guitar with the fish tail head and all, however mine isn't in the best shape. It has a few nicks on the body and the neck is kind of bowed in, giving it very high action.

Yamaha FG300 worth???

I have an FG300 that I got for a deal from a friend and I would like to know its worth. It is a FG300 Nippon Gakki red label. The neck was cracked once but was fixed. It sounds awesome. All the write ups on this guitar say its awesome but where can I find the year it was made?

fg 450 sa

can anybody tell me anything about a fg450sa.i know it has a solid top.. thanks

Re: fg 450 sa

: can anybody tell me anything about a fg450sa.i know it has a solid top.. thanks

The FG 450 SA is a wonderful guitar made my Yamaha with inlay around the pickgaurd, snowflake inlays on the frets, solid high-quality spruce top. I have had mine for about 8 years and it has aged beautifully, with a very balanced tone and more than pleasing volume. The bass notes aren't quite as heavy as one would expect from say a Martin, but with a little action adjustment it will quickly become one of your favorite flatpicking, strumming, or fingerpicking guitars.

Yamaha FG-450sa

Just bought a used one and it is in splendid condition. I have owned several higher end martins but found the necks to be too wide. This yamaha model has alot of nice features like the snowflake inlays and bound fingerboard. The abalone inlay around the soundhole and the dove on the headstock are equally nice. The neck is perfect for my hands and the sound is bright and full. I noticed as well that the bass notes don't boom lke the martins do but I payed $350 bucks for this thing as compared to > $2,000 for all the martins i've owned. I'd say that if you can pick one of these up .. go for it. For the money, i'm not going to lose sleep if i ding it here and there and it sounds wonderful!!!

pacifica 521

Could anyone give me an idea on how good my Pacifica 521 is?
I'm curious as to its current worth, and generally how it rates
1-10 for quality. Personally I have found it to be a great little unit, but with all I here about the Pacifica range getting rave reviews O.S. I wonder if we are just slow catching up here in Aussie.

I have a 521 (1989)which i have had for 7 years, i would not sell this guitar for anyother as i think nothing else touchs it. I have 2 fenders and another Pacifica 812 which are good but the 521 just wants to be played,it can shread like a motherfuck and also give a smooth jazz tone (very clean and very warm). So the answer to your question is, its a gem of a guitar but thier not worth more than 3-400 english pounds.

Re: pacifica 521

I bought mine second hand for about £199 but i saw a new one for around £450.

Re: YamahaSG 500

I have one, it's bad ass.. had it for 3 years now

Re: YamahaSG 500

Rock!
The Yamaha SG feels more like a contoured Les Paul than an SG,is pretty basic looking, has powerfull pick-ups and is built like a tank! I like the way that the selector switch is located by the volume/tone control, all round it has a different feel to the other yamaha models,in fact if you like the "500" then you probely wont like the other models in the range.

p.s,The "500" was produced up untill about 5-6 years ago,I know this because I own a music shop and I bought mine from Yamaha-Kemble myself!

This guitar is made in Japan in years from early 1970's - 80's. It was then discontinued. I have one and it looks similar to a Gibson SG but better !!. The sound quality is great. The price was great. If you are trying to find one good luck. Many who had the guitar usually keep it for its sound quality and durability. Hope you have a strong shoulder caue its quite heavy. One remedy is to use a wide strap !! I have no complaints about this guitar. I Have one the only change I have made is i have changed the pick ups to seymour duncan pick ups just for personal change. This is a great testiment to japanese know how in creating such a good musical instrument

Re: YamahaSG 500

Well, orderd the SG 500B 2 days ago.
I'm looking forward to it cuz the sound is really ok an the price is more than good for a guitar in this quality.
