SG 3000 current model

I know Yamaha U.S.A doesn't carry the SG 2000 or 3000 series anymore, but Yamaha Japan still does. I'm thinking of ordering an SG 3000 directly from Japan. Does anyone know whether the current SG 3000 is up to the standards that I read a lot of SG fans rave about? In particular do they have that extra slab of brass under the bridge? How do the pick-ups compare to the classic SG's from the 70's? What are the best pick-ups for a jazzier/ warm tone? Thanks.

yamaha TRB5 Bass hum

Yamaha FG-345 II worth?

Last year I bought one at a garage sale and haven't used it because I like my other guitars better. It's in average condition. I find the action a bit high.

Do you want to sell it?

Yamaha FG-180

I suppose I am lucky but I never knew. A few yearas ago i FOUND a Yamaha FG-180 on the street!! Somebody chucked it out and I thought: Oooh.....what a waste to throw a guitar in the trash!
That was 16 years ago. But only today was I told they are actualy sought after. Can anyone tell me what they are worth?

Mine has the Autographs of both Indigo Girls on it with an Indigo Girls sticker.(sorry folks, I did not know it was an exclusive guitar and I was 14 at the time:o) so I suppose that kills some of the value.

Someone please send me some mail and help me out. I *might* want to sell it.

Re: yamaha FG 165S

I believe they were made in the early 1980' Republic of China, made in Taiwan. My brother purchased one used, inexpensive, which I now own. They have a great tone and a rich bass. Are you looking to buy one? Mine does not have a serial # on it only the Yamaha Mfg. sticker inside which states, ~Yamaha FG-165S-1~ .

Re: yamaha FG 165S

Your Yamaha FG 165S was manufactured in 1976. The original MSRP was $199.50. The top is made of solid spruce, the back and sides are Nato. The Neck is Nato, fingerboard is Indian Rosewood, and the finish is Red Sunburst..Hope this helps!

Re: yamaha FG 165S

Just picked up an FG 165S, as good as the day it was made.
Even the strings are original.
One happy little guitar plucker!

SG2000

I own a Yamaha SG2000 from the late 70's. Can anybody tell me where they hide the serialno? On my SG1000 is in the back of the neck.
But unfortunately I still have no clue where the serialno good be.
Does anybody know?

Re: SG2000

Hi Robert,
I live in the Netherlands.....wrong guy I guess?

Re: SG2000

I have an SG2000 and the serial number is stamped/ engraved on the back of the headstock.

I suppose its 'possible' it could have worn away, but unlikely I'd have thought.

Re: SG2000 serial no.

I have an early SG2000 and mine is also stamped on the back of the headstock.

Out of interest, what sort of value could you put on a mint condition SG200 with the serial no. of 004904 ?

I know mine is priceless

Re: SG2000 serial no.

I have 4 Yamaha SG guitars and three have the S/N stamped in the back of the headstock that is easy to see.. However, one SG2000 appeared that it didn't have a S/N. It turns out that the S/N is there but I had to look at it in the sun and I could barely see it cause the s/n was stamped in the wood and the finish covers it up. BTW, I'm trying to find a dating scheme for these guitars ... Can you guys email me S/Ns and what year you think they are?

Thanks!

andy
